Looking Forward to Spring Fashion 2014

To warm up those February blues, let's look forward to the upcoming trends for Spring. This season is all about looking soft and feminine, which is deal for refined, yet fashion-forward ladies. Overall, we are also seeing a variety floral-themes and a resurgence of 1920s elegance, filled with short hair, flapper dresses and sleeveless oxford shirts. Ultimately, the designs for this season are truly exquisite!
Florals
For Spring, designers are embracing a light, floral touch to a variety of ensembles. Rebecca Taylor shows this trend stunningly with a pink collared shirt and cropped, flowing trousers. Oscar de la Renta reveals a more playful interpretation of this floral motif with a lime green A-line dress with white lace at the sleeves. These gracefully feminine designs are excellent for feeling vibrant at any patio lunch or outdoor gathering.
Sheers & Layers
This Spring, sheer tops are a great way to look fresh and stylish. Calvin Klein reveals a Bohemian-inspired take on this trend, showing a sheer white dress with fringes at the sleeves and hem. For a more conservative look, women can layer these pieces over a beige camisole, which creates a nice layering effect. You can also combine these sheer pieces with gladiator sandals, a perfect touch for Spring weather.
Maxi Dress
The maxi dress offers the perfect combination of comfort and fashion. Known for its weather-versatility, the maxi dress is long enough for chilly evenings, yet also light enough for humid days. Women often pair also a loose cardigan or light scarf with the maxi dress, giving the outfit more complexity and style.
Blazer
Blazers are hot, hot, hot! They are ideal for adding structure and refinement to those flowy spring dresses. Also, the blazer can help create a smoother look for a shapely figure. IN terms of colors, black or white blazers are a safe and classic option. However, blazers in the pastel-color range are also quite vogue this Spring such as yellows, mints and peaches.
Bridal Jewelry
Fashion Supremacy features a dreamy set of necklaces which make exquisite bridal adornments. With the Enchanting Dream Necklace, every bride can feel proud to walk down the aisle. This piece features gorgeous white glass pearls, bright Swarovski crystals and a stunning central snowflake for added sparkle and drama. The Enchanted Dream Head Piece also provides an treasured addition to a bridal gown. For extra dazzle, the Frosted Glitz Necklace is also a popular piece with rhinestone beads and hand-blown glass pearls, elegantly weaved through a crocheted wire bed. There are also Swarovski crystals and silver flowers laced along the center, allowing a bride to glimmer and elicit awe as she walks toward her new life.

Embrace the midi. You may as well just give in to temptation already because this new silhouette isn't going anywhere... It's perfect for gals in the in between who don't like the sound of a mini and whose maxi-length skirts and dresses are collecting dust (like mine are, partially because I'm still not sure if my height suits them).

This Staple The Label beauty I scored at the Styling Suite a few months back caught my eye immediately, despite telling everyone a second prior that I own too many stripes and had to steer clear... "But it's a different kind of stripe... and it's a different length!" I tried to justify the second I slipped into its soft, stretchy goodness. I haven't looked back, and you shouldn't have to look further than the little collection of midi's I've put together for you below!

If you're stumped for ideas on how to maximise wear out of the style, try:

     1. Pairing it with heels for outings, while opting for Birkenstocks or sneakers for a casual look
     2. Adding a cropped jacket to break the fabric apart a bit on your body and making sure to try on different fits to find the perfect style that flatters your figure

And, let's go for the obvious but perfect option:

     3. The crop and midi skirt pairing that's taken the world by storm in various form of matching co-ordinates, or clashing prints and textures.

Have I convinced you yet?

NICK VERREOS FIDM.....Nick Verreos Special Appearance at FIDM San Francisco 3 Days of Fashion 2016: BLOG RECAP!

San Francisco 3 Days of Fashion Fun: Nick Verreos "Special Appearance" at FIDM San Francisco 3 Days of Fashion 2016

Rounding out my "Special Guest" appearances these past two weeks for the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM's fabulous "3 Days of Fashion" Summer Program, the FIDM San Francisco campus was the last stop--and a SUPER WONDERFUL one to boot! Previously, I had the honor of making special visits at the FIDM San Diego, FIDM Los Angeles and FIDM Orange County campuses and so San Francisco was the last one to get to.

Many of you may know that I spent my teenage years in the Bay Area, after my family moved to San Bruno and subsequently, nearby Millbrae. To make a long story short, I always have a special affinity for San Francisco since, well, I kinda grew up there (or at least nearby!). So...back to my visit to FIDM San Francisco...

Uh OH!--I was flying out of LAX to SFO via Virgin America. My flight was scheduled to depart at around 10 am. We boarded but 15 minutes later, we were all deplaned. Yep, we were asked to leave the aircraft! Then, it was announced our gate was changed and then, our departure time was changed from that 10 am time to...2:30 PM. It would have been fine but, that was EXACTLY the time I was supposed to be at the FIDM San Francisco campus--with my NIKOLAKI and NV Nick Verreos dresses--ready to speak to about 100 students! So, needless to say, this was NOT AN OPTION. Luckily the airline found a space for me--and my gowns--on the 11am flight and...

I Made It!--Nick Verreos in Union Square San Francisco

So, thank goodness, I made it to FIDM San Francisco just in time and everything worked out FABULOUSLY! Here are all the photos to prove it:

Short Curvy Girl Fashion - Super Cool Tips

To help you settle any stature-related style issues, we're sharing the best mold guidance for short young ladies. With insider tips and customizing traps, this is your definitive manual for grasping your stature.

From the hues you wear to what styles of garments to stay away from, there is by all accounts an abundance of rules and regulations out there.

While my principle fashion tip for short girls is to have certainty and stand tall, if making the deception of additional tallness is the thing that you need to accomplish then investigate at the accompanying style tips for shorter young ladies.

1. GO MONOCHROME
Wearing a solitary shading from head to toe can make an extended outline, giving the fantasy of tallness. An excessive number of various hues can separate your outline, making a blocky appearance.

2. SAY HI TO HEELS
A standout amongst the clearest and grasped style tips for short young ladies is to wear heeled shoes.
Whether you're after somewhat of a lift or included inches, a couple of heeled shoes will physically give you additional tallness.

In case you're not used to wavering around in stilettos, why not attempt a "more secure" alternative like a wedge shoe?

3. WEAR HIGH WAISTED STYLES
Making the presence of being taller is about extents.
Wearing high waisted shorts, jeans or skirts makes a sort of optical dream.
The higher waist prompts the presence of longer legs and in this way a more delicate outline.

4. Try not to BE AFRAID OF MAXIS
Maxi length dresses or skirts appear to be a noteworthy stress for shorter young ladies.
Full, creased skirts tend to 'gobble you up' which might be the place the trepidation of maxi skirts lies.
My design tip for short young ladies is that to make the maxi work for you, stick to smooth segment style skirts and dresses.

5. Flaunt SHORTER HEMS
Small skirts and dresses are extraordinary in the event that you have the legs for it.
Consolidated with the right decision of shoe, they can make the presence of long, incline legs.
Notwithstanding, skirts and dresses that complete simply over the knee are a more secure wager for shortest young ladies.

6. Pick THE RIGHT PANTS
With regards to fashion tips for short young ladies for wearing jeans, it's about getting the right extents.
You'll need a fitted style that isn't excessively massive. Boot cut and marginally flared pants can make you seem taller.
Attempt and stay away from any wide-legged or excessively voluminous styles.

7. Maintain a strategic distance from CROPPED PANTS
While picking some jeans, stay away from edited styles.
Pants that complete over the shoe can likewise make the presence of thicker legs.
You need a stitch that spreads the greater part of your shoe as this will give the presence of longer legs.

8. Be careful THE FIT

Shorter young ladies need to grasp fitted apparel.
Anything excessively slouchy or voluminous can possibly add additional mass to your look and make you seem stockier than you are.

9. HAVE CONFIDENCE!
Regardless of how short or tall you are you'll just #look as marvelous as you feel. It's imperative then to ooze certainty, whatever you're wearing.

These are only a couple fashion tips for short girls that can give the dream of included tallness.

Nick Verreos Hosts Macy's Fashion Show at 2011 LULAC Convention & Expo in Cincinnati Ohio: The Recap!!

Hola Cincinnati!!

Last week, in the midst of my FIDM 2011 "3 Days of Fashion" appearances in SF, LA, San Diego and Orange County (whew! That's a sentence-full!), I flew for an overnight trip to Cincinnati Ohio to host a FAB Macy's Fashion Show. The Fashion Show was to take place as part of 2011 LULAC/League of United Latin American Citizens Convention and Exposition's "Voces Unidas: Concierto de la Gente" (United Voices: Concert for the People) featuring "Los Lobos" (yes, of "La Bamba" fame) and "El Guero".

Upon arriving from my flight from LA to Cincinnati (via Salt Lake City), I was greeted by this sign, welcoming all LULAC Convention and Expo out-of-town guests and attendees to Cincinnati. You know I had to take a quick photo as arriving passengers were impatiently trying to get onto the escalator, making their way out of the airport.

After getting to the city, I checked into The Cincinnatian Hotel, which I heard was "The Best Hotel" in town. I immediately went to my room and as it's become a "Tradition" here on my blog and my Recaps, I took photos of my bed and the room itself (it was very nice indeed!).

The shower had TWO, not just one, but TWO, of those "Rain Shower heads" PLUS SIX coming-from-the-shower-wall jet streams. I made a mental note to get up EXTRA early the following morning to enjoy that before I had to catch my flight back to Los Angeles!

I had about one hour to change from my "travel outfit" and into "I am Hosting a Macy's Fashion Show" TopMan turquoise blue jacket, Dolce & Gabbana black jacquard tie and Zara black skinny trousers ensemble and then make my way to the Duke Energy Convention Center, site of 2011 LULAC Convention and Expo--as well as my fashion show event. It was about 90 degrees HOT and Humid so thank goodness I was NOT in head-to-toe wool!!!

The Center was "busy busy busy" as attendees made their way in and out of the Expo and from various different conferences and meeting rooms. After climbing three floors on the escalators (it's a BIG place you guys!), I made it to the Grand Ballroom, site of the Concert and Fashion Show.

After checking in with my Macy's clients, and the producers of the fashion show as well as all the models (they were SOOOO sweet!), we had a quick rehearsal, got all my note cards and was ready to BRING on the Macy's Fashion to LULAC! The Concert's "Mistress of Ceremonies" was the beautiful Melissa "Crash" Barrera, TV host and Mun2 personality. She introduced me and well, of course, I had to begin everything...

With one of my "Nick Runway Walks" (photo courtesy of JackFleming.com). Then, it was onto the Fashion. Being that it was a Macy's Fashion Show, there were LOTS of great looking clothes, naturally--and all available in two blocks distance at the nearby Macy's Fountain Place.

The show began with a tableaux of fun and flirty printed maxi dresses--perfect for a July 4th Bar-b-Q, cocktails in Cabo, or even "dressed up" with heels for a party.

We also showed tailored business attire for the professional Latina, and even some Comfy-Chic separates. Trends included tie-dye, flower prints, bold and bright colors, metallics and statement-making scarves.

In between the fashions, I even gave some "Lessons" in what dresses work best for what body types and what details (shirring, diagonal pleating) also help visually "slim" a figure. And of course, I got in on the act and even modeled with one of the gorgeous girls!

There were BOYS as well, kids! And they, naturally, were also wearing head-to-toe Macy's looks from Macy's-exclusive brands like INC and Alfani.

After the fashion show ended, I went down into the Grand Ballroom area and took photos with guests as well as signed autographs and drew "Fashion Croquis" for them as well (photos above). I had A BLAST hosting the show and now it was onto watching--and listening--to "Los Lobos" and "El Guero" do their thang! And then return to my hotel and enjoy a good night's rest. In case you were wondering, yes, I got to use that AMAZEEEEEING shower back in my room the next morning! The sounds that I was making...well, I'm surprised my next door hotel neighbor didn't call the Hotel Security!!!

Ciao Cincinnati!!
