Tour Down Under Unley Gourmet Gala Gallery

We kicked off the beginning of the 2017 Santos Tour Down Under at the Unley Gourmet Gala on King William Road. An evening of South Australian wine, local eateries, and unique entertainment to celebrate the first official race of the TDU.

Art & Breast Awareness - KUDOS & M2 Galleries.

In the interest of avoiding upsetting anyone too much - one hopes, with our first post for 2017 - I will point out very early on that the awareness at the joint show at KUDOS was of a very different nature to the underground comix art type of breast awareness at the group show at M2 gallery. Space 1, KUDOS was (on NOW) Bec Litvan's BEAUTY AND THE BREAST; Painting, Photography, beautiful decorative Mastectomy Bras and a table of pearls as part of the installation. Bec told me the work was born out of the change she saw in her mothers personality after the breast cancer operation, the works are intended to bring back the beauty and a sense of the joys of life, and her mum modelled for the photographs in the show. COLLUSIVE MISCELLANY by Amy Claire Mills, Bailee Lobb is not about breasts however it is a work performed in the nude so-to-speak, while interacting with the large wind blown fabrics which have themselves been manipulated through tying & heat - even the fans blowing did nothing to diminish the heat of this performance of which there are to be three more iterations; Live performances in space 2 : Saturdays 14, 21 & 28 January, 1-2pm. Was it a strange coincidence to be at M2 the very next night? GORO a group show of five artists who, as mentioned above are very much in the style of the underground Comix of the 70's & 80's; think Charles Burns, Robert Crumb & H R Giger but with an Aussie-Goth/Surf Culture tie in.. And the breasts? Well of course, Dominatrix style and plenty of them. I must admit I rather enjoyed this show and it was a great and friendly crowd for the lens of Street Fashion Sydney too. Harbour Life Music Festival Sydney 2016.

I want to thank Windsor Smith for the invite to celebrate their 70th anniversary at #HarbourLife for which they were a major sponsor. You can read all about that epic sojourn in the VIP Marquee behind the stage if you missed it HERE. BUT because I was at this amazing venue for this amazing event and an event within an event; I could not resist documenting both, day into night to the best of my abilities. I had never been to a day club/Festival/Rave(?) before although back in the day I certainly liked to hit the dance floor at the small clubs in Brisbane & later Sydney & even Barcelona. So although I didn't actually do anything other than take pictures (once back out in the main music areas); I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the people and everyone seemed great and really laid back. If you see a friend, please share the blog & let them know. I have also decided to post the pictures to a folder on the Street Fashion Sydney - Facebook page, link at the bottom - please share from here first, and you might like to Follow on Facebook when you get there. Thanks to everyone what a great music event, what a location! Even if I do feel conflicted about public park being used so-often as a venue.. We will talk about that another time.. Cheers to you!
