BOOMBOX LAURA MARANO FASHION SHOW 2019

LAURA MARANO!! Literally one of my favorite people, not just work people, but PEOPLE people! She’s the best. We met in 2016 when she asked me to direct her first music video to her first single BOOMBOX (I’ll link it on my story) and this past fall she asked me to direct the first single off her EP ME (I’ll also link in my blog ) but I don’t adore her just because she keeps asking me to direct videos for her, I adore her because she is the sweetest, kindest, most hardworking, appreciative artist ever. It’s a joy working with her, but also just being around her, and for that reason I’d be honored to shoot her for as long as I can operate a camera. She also just dropped her EP and it’s killer so go have a listen (will ALSO link that in my stories) <3 U LAURA!!! What a fun thing to see you at the oscars!

FROM MIAMI SWIM WEEK TO SWIMISSUE ANGEL STARDOM

You may know our friend Alexa Collins as one of the models you saw quite a lot of at last Miami Swim Week. She’s very beautiful, with a beautiful spirit, and now has been chosen as the first “SwimIssue Angel” by SwimIssue, a new

brand entering the swimwear entertainment space.

According to The Huffington Post, “SwimIssue will operate in much the same way as Sports Illustrated or Victoria’s Secret works — by cherry picking a small selection of elite models that become the faces of the company and who make up the swim brand’s core family.

“The brand is set to become an iconic franchise spanning fashion, social media, brand activations, TV and even movies … but where Sports Illustrated sells magazines, SwimIssue will focus on its TV series and Instagram stores, selling swimwear from the hottest trending designers in the business.”

Alexa is a true fan of Miami Swim Week. In fact, she says, “My favorite photos are from [last] Miami Swim Week. They show my true colors and they also show how happy I was on that day. I also love our first Charlie’s Angels style shoot.”

You can see that video at top.

As Miami Swim Week becomes more popular, we’re looking forward to seeing how TV and film will continue to augment this exciting series of annual events.

Everyone knows Pinterest is the mecca for brides-to-be and aspirational brides alike. And even with all these different preferences and personal styles coming into play, there's still one wedding dress that is catching the eye of practically everyone on the social media site.

Anthropologie Southport Fall Runway Show

I am a lover of fashion any season, all year long, but there is just something about the transition of autumn that sparks a whole new kind of inspiration and excitement in my wardrobe. Buckle adorned ankle boots, over-sized flannel, tweed-patterned leggings; I love it all. I want it all!

Thank goodness for gorgeously stocked stores like Anthropologie. The whimsical, meets modern selections are always fun to peruse, even if it's one of those "window shopping only" kind of weeks. You gals all know what I mean.

In celebration of the season's amazing fashions, Anthropologie at 3532 N Southport Ave, hosted a fall fashion show on Thursday, October 2nd. Featuring a selection of pieces and accessories exclusively found at Anthropologie, the show was modeled by local bloggers, employees, and customers.

Anthropologie Southport Apparel Department Manager, Maureen Sullivan assisted with planning, as well as operating the event. "This year’s fashion show focused on some of our key buys and inspirational layering silhouettes," said Sullivan. "There was a focus on dress up/ dress down and versatile looks."

With so many wonderful looks to choose from, Sullivan said it would be difficult for her to choose a favorite of the evening, but admitted she loved the sense of community the fashion show encapsulated. My favorite part of the show? The fluffy pomeranian that strutted the runway rocking a bow tie! (scroll down and prepare for the cuteness).

True to the Anthropologie aesthetic, the evening highlighted a beautiful display of unique and on trend fashions. Sullivan shared with me that her favorite trend this season is feminine floral prints mixed with masculine plaids and knit textures. "We love to see that juxtaposition of different prints, colors, and fabrications to create a well curated narrative."

As a fun finale, guests partook in a raffle with the possibility of winning some amazing prizes! "All the raffle prizes were curated around specific gift themes, that we feel will be important this coming holiday," said Sullivan. "We have such strong home vendors that create really unique bar ware, kitchenware, and candles that we wanted to be able to inform [guests] of all our great product, but also give [guests] a chance to experience it [themselves], and of course it was such an exciting way to thank [them] for being a part of our event."

The Underground Style Series: Lily Duevel

On Thursday, September 25th, nightclub/venue The Underground showcased their final runway show of their 2014 Style Series.  Stylist Lily Duevel, founder of adoptedSTYLE, was in the spotlight for the evening.  An experienced fashion stylist, Duevel highlighted the season's hottest trends in an inspiring showcase.

Night club turned runway, a raised catwalk was set in the center of the club.  Duevel introduced the show, sharing her inspiration for the looks.  One of my favorites being a combination of a flowy red blouse with a charcoal pant.  Just the perfect pop of color!

The evening also featured seasonal cocktails sponsored by Grey Goose.  My favorite of the evening being a spicy carrot cocktail, a perfect pairing with the fall weather and fashions!  Cheers to another wonderful display of designers highlighted by The Style Series.  I am already looking forward to next year's lineup!

Stuff to do - Weekend part 2 - Water Street Studios ŏn-sŏm' bəl 2014

If you're thinking the suburbs are seriously lacking in the culture dept. then you are sadly mistaken! Although Chicago is known for the arts scene, many of the suburban areas right outside of the city have established amazing communities for local artists. One area in particular that has seen tremendous growth in its culture and arts sector is Batavia, IL. A beautiful town in the western burbs, just 40 minutes or so outside of Chicago. The Water Street Studios has created an environment for growth and development for artists in the area. The Batavia Artists Association at Water Street Studios was founded to advance art education and appreciation by developing the promotion of fine arts in Batavia and neighboring communities.

If you are looking for some art, culture and fashion in the burbs this weekend, then make sure to check out ŏn-sŏm' bəl: A Bold Event To Support The Arts - this Saturday September 27, 2014.

Halfstack Fall Issue Sneak Peek: Macy's Glamorama

Written by: Perry Fish as featured in Halfstack's Fall Issue.

If I were throwing a party, of course I would invite Jason Derulo.  There would be live music, a fashion show, male models in Diesel briefs, confetti falling from the ceiling, a red carpet; hey, a girl can dream. The best part?  It would all be for an amazing cause!

On Friday, August 8th, at Millennium Park’s Harris Theatre, Macy’s put on my ideal party, the party of all parties, Glamorama!  This year’s theme, Fashion Rocks, brought style, music, and the people of Chicago together for one special evening.

The event also aimed to raise funds and awareness for the Children’s Cancer Research Fund in Minneapolis and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.  Within the past 5 years, nearly $1 million has been raised for Ronald McDonald House Charities, which has funded the ability for families to stay close while their children are treated.

To kick off the event, Macy’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Terry Lundgren and RMHC-CNI Ambassador Child, Samantha Roberson, introduced the evening and riled up the crowed for a mesmerizing display of fall fashion!

The evening’s fashion lineup included, Tommy Hilfiger, Weekend MaxMara, Men In Suites, I.N.C International Concepts, Macy’s Impulse, Hello Kitty, Denim Nation, Calvin Klein, and Diesel.   While all of the shows were brilliant, especially Diesels display of more than 20 men in boxer briefs, moving about the stage to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Calvin Klein’s execution was nothing short of breathtaking.  The chic display of chunky knits and tailored jackets in shades of blush and charcoal had me wishing for a pumpkin spice latte.
