Statement Jewels With Wallis

Of all the elements an outfit can consist of, jewellery totally has my heart. My heart and a huge section of my wardrobe. It figures then that when Wallis asked if I would be a part of a shoot to show off their latest jewellery pieces, I typed a very fast, very enthusiastic YES in return.

In total we shot three Wallis Jewellery stories which will be featured on Wallis online over the next few weeks, stay tuned to my Twitter for updates. Today is the turn of our first styling feature, The Statement Piece. YAY!

Read on for more images, styling tips, and some behind the scenes snaps from the day . . .

I so clearly recall when statement necklaces became popular, it was around the time The City first aired and we were introduced to the accessorising genius of one Olivia Palermo. Remember?! Even in THIS scene where OP is squaring up to colleague Erin, she's giving great neckpiece action. Nowadays the statement necklace is a given addition to any and all outfits, and is still one of my favourite ways to amp up an ensemble. If you too love a good dose of colour, 3D drama, crystals . . .    then bookmark Wallis jewels NOW. I am abscessed with this multicoloured tassel necklace and stone and pearl collar.

For styling up statement pieces, here are a few tips:

 - think about your neckline. A crew or round neck work best with statement necklaces. They provide the perfect base. If you're wearing a deep V, or lower neck, I would consider statement earrings instead. It is all about enhancing your outfit, not competing with different elements.

- go for a colour clash. I love utilising statement jewellery to create drama in an outfit. Whilst a hot red dress may not work with a turquoise jacket, a turquoise necklace is just the right amount of contrast to really pop.

- start gently. If rainbow brights bring fear to your jewellery draw, start with a dramatic gold, silver or copper piece. They will go with everything.

I was so excited on this shoot to work with some of my favourite industry girls ever. Wallis Jewellery's PR Amy has been one of The Elgin Avenue's greatest supporters from day dot and I will forever be grateful for our relationship. It was SO fun working together on this creative project and I knew 100% that Amy would be on the same wave length as me when it came to jewels. Seriously, her jewellery collection could rival my own! Not only was Amy there, but one of my greatest friends, makeup artist Charlotte Wood, was on hand to do my hair and makeup. Charlotte and I have been friends for years and it is so awesome to develop our careers along side one another, hair and makeup is such an intimate part of a shoot - it made all the difference to have her there. The shoot was a long, fun day, consisting of MANY outfit changes, a relaxed team and a seriously scrummy Pret run. Yes, I am mentioning the Pret run. It was THAT good.

I am so excited to see the images on Wallis online over the next couple of weeks. You can check out Wallis's Jewellery collection here - let me know if you fall head over heels for the pieces too!

A huge thank you to Wallis for having me as part of the family, and to everyone who made the shoot so awesome.

Have a super day all!

Love,
