On Sunday afternoon--at the 88th Annual Academy Awards Red Carpet---The GORGEOUS Debbie Matenopoulos, Co-Anchor of "The Insider" Entertainment TV Show, wore one of our NIKOLAKI gowns! This happens to be the second time we have had one of our designs walk the Academy Awards red carpet! The first was when the amazingly talented Academy Award-winning Actress Marlee Matlin wore our gown at the 2008 Academy Awards.

NIKOLAKI Diva: Debbie Matenopoulos in NIKOLAKI sequined gown--The gown featured hand-sewn gold/silver sequined paillettes over a silk base. The column silhouette had draped bias-cut details in front and back, as well as a train.

Jennifer Lawrence, star of "Joy", wore--to no one's surprise--Christian Dior Haute Couture to tonight's 88th Annual Academy awards. Lawrence is the Face of Dior Makeup so naturally, it is most definitely in her contract to also wear the brand's designs. The dress is from Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2016 collection which was NOT designed by former Creative Director Raf Simons but by Lucie Meier and Serge Ruffieux, who are the current heads of the Dior design studio. Now, back to the gown...

It was black and nude silk tulle with hand-sewn lace detail which tiered to the floor...

Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring 2016: The original look, as shown on the runway, was tea length with a much deeper neckline. The dress created for Jennifer lengthened the design to floor length and made the neckline a bit more modest.

She finished the look with bleach-blond shoulder-length hair and clean makeup--and several strands of diamonds around her neck.

Former "Miss World" and ABC "Quantico" actress Priyanka Chopra looked STUNNING in a white tulle gown from Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The strapless $75,000+ costing gown (don't fret, she didn't have to pay that, it was lent to her) featured a tulle base with hand-sewn sequin flower and leaf applique as well as a metallic silver belt...

Beautiful: Being a former "Miss World" helps but still...WOW! Loved this dress, loved Priyanka's olive-toned skin against the ivory color and the styling and accessories were on-point.

Academy Award-nominated actress for "Brooklyn" Saoirse Ronan, wore this emerald green sequined gown custom-made for her by Calvin Klein Collection. I'm always fascinated by designer brands such as "Calvin Klein Collection" who create these custom gowns for top awards shows such as the Oscars and for top A-list actresses, yet the gowns and the designs have little to do with what one sees on the runways of Calvin Klein Collection. But that's neither here nor there, I guess...back to Saoirse:

The gown itself featured a plunging neckline, fitted waist and slight train. It was a simple silhouette and nothing too "Fashion Forward", but still pretty. I think she looked beautiful and quite a movie star. I loved how the color of the dress brought out the gorgeous color of her eyes and the nod to the "Emerald Isle" (with the color) to her native Ireland.

I loved her softly tousled hair and clean makeup. The mismatched earrings are another very modern touch.

One of the nicest--if not safest-- looks on the 2016 Academy Awards red carpet. What did you guys think?

"Carol" actress Rooney Mara wore this ivory colored gown from Givenchy Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The gown--designed by Riccardo Tisci-- had a high neckline, long sleeves, peek-a-boo opening and front cascading slit. The dress itself was hand made of silk tulle with intricate sequin applique....

The original version--as shown at last month's Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week--was in a purple/midnight blue coloration and featured different sequin work. But the silhouette and gown details (high neck, peek-a-boo, long sleeves, etc.) were all the same. This collection marked the return of the famed French fashion house of Givenchy to Haute Couture.

Knot Rooney: I loved the sleek and modern top/center/back knot hairstyle and UBER fierce makeup. I think we are even seeing Rooney trying to smile...a little bit!

I was so excited to see the fabulous "The Insider" Co-Host Debbie Matenopoulos wearing our NIKOLAKI gown at last night's 2016 SAG Awards Red Carpet.  Debbie's gown was a mint-green colored silk chiffon sequined bias-cut dress with a "Sari"-style drape and silk zibeline strapless bustier...

Nicole Kidman wore this pink, lilac and violet sequined gown from Gucci. Gucci's new designer Alessandro Michele (he's been Creative Director since last year) has been shaping up the fashion world with his "Geek Chic/70's" new look to the House of Gucci and I guess Kidman (or whoever styled her) thought she would look divine in one of his newest creations. I may have to disagree. This was a bit of a mess. While I give her points for going "out there" (as "out there" as one can go nowadays at these otherwise boring red carpet events), this style was a bit too Cirque du Soleil-meets-Valley of the Dolls...

Trompe L'oeil Gucci: While the gown may look like it is ruffled, it's a trompe l'oeil effect (an illusion) which is quite interesting in terms of the dress but I just don't think it translated well on the red carpet. Now, if she wore this in Capri with gold sandals while drinking a Campari and Soda, I would have probably thought she looked bellissima!
