Finally a Balmaincampaign I love: no celebrity models here, only f***ing goddesses!
Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford and (queen) Naomi Campbell take over the Balmain spring ad campaign in style: posing in front of Steven Klein's camera, the three legends managed to give their fearless touch to the brand latest collection, which featured clingy silhouettes, 80's romantic ruffles, bondage style harnesses, crystals- and beads-applications, cut-outs and (obviously) sheer paneling.
Here is what creative director Olivier Rousteing commented about the campaign:
"Watching Cindy, Claudia, Naomi and Steven instinctively work together, I was struck by the displays of confidence, professionalism and grace in front of me. There was never any doubt that the final images would be anything but perfect.
[...] All the people who love Balmain have this nostalgia of the power of fashion in the ’90s when models were iconic—and this is always what I push. . . . When you love Balmain, you love Cindy, you love Naomi, and you love Claudia. It’s natural because they are iconic, they are powerful, and they are strong—and they make a lot of people love fashion."
A legendary campaign I agree…but dear Oliver, couldn’t you resist the urge to feature yourself in it?
Anyway after the frenzy for the H&M capsule collection, these pictures are going to keep Balmain on top of the fashion world, where it belongs.
