I love the amazing weather we get during Fall, here in Canada! It's cold enough to wear thicker fabrics and (finally!) take your favourite suede boots out for a stroll, yet, warm enough to go out bare legs and wear short-sleeve tees outside. It is also one of the easiest and most convenient time of the year to get dressed in the morning, execute a seamless transition from desk to dinner or to dress up for a night event without the hassle of adjusting to different temperatures through the day.
To me, Fall is also an opportunity to get creative with my everyday style by mixing and matching pieces, layering garments and daring bolder beauty looks. I got this dress a very long time ago at a Joseph Ribkoff sample sale I attended with my mom but never actually had the chance to wear it. Thing is, this was originally a midi-lenght cocktail dress my Mother insisted on buying for me in case I every needed something more formal to wear. Ironically, I never did and this dress spent the last 7 years sleeping the in back of my closet until I recently found it again during Spring cleaning. I was gonna give it away to charity as I usually do with my old clothes every year but with slip dresses being SO on trend right now, I thought there might be something that I could do to give that dress a second life…
So, I brought it to my tailor and asked him to re-arrange the fit to make it shorter and more body conscious, which he executed to perfection. Ever since, I had been waiting for an opportunity to debut my new favourite slip dress and OGILVY's 150th anniversary fundraising event, last night, seemed like like the perfect occasion. I layered it on top of a simple white, short-sleeve top, and paired the whole thing with the most perfect suede Fall boots from ALDO, my River Island suede chain evening bag, a black velvet choker necklace found online via Australian e-boutique Krysdoll Shop and, a disheveled ponytail, luminescent complexion and a dark lip by Kylie Cosmetics (True Brown).
