WHAT: Louis Vuitton Resort 2018. Christian Dior took its Resort Show on the road--to Calabasas California...and now Louis Vuitton went to a little more "worldly" Kyoto Japan. In the past, LV has shown its Resort Collections in Rio de Janeiro's Niteroi Museum as well as Bob Hope's Hope estate in Palm Springs, but this year it was Miho Museum about an hour's drive from Kyoto Japan. The museum was designed by I.M Pei--who we all know designed the stunning Louvre glass pyramid.
SEEN ON THE RUNWAY: Creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere loves Japanese culture and this year's Resort collection was a fabulous homage to that country. It referenced Samurai warriors, traditional Japanese prints, Kabuki makeup...
BAG STYLE: Louis Vuitton Resort 2018
The collection features special pieces designed by OG Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto who once dressed David Bowie. There were 70's "Pimp Chic" style leather and suede jackets, coats, super skinny leggings, lots of mixed media patterning. These were Ghesquiere's glorious and super chic Samurai Divas ready for Fashion War!
