24 fashion trends for Fall/Winter 2018-2019

What’s new for next winter? Plenty. Easywear continues to be big, we’ll still be wrapping up warm in cozy clothes that make us feel safe, but for 2018 comfort will also mean an eclectic succession of familiar pieces, that are also fail-safe in the style stakes.

The overall trend might have been towards real clothes that are easy to throw on and a way of dialling seduction down to the everyday, but fashion didn’t forget about fun, color and glamour. Next winter will be determined, celebrating individuality and style with a multitude of trends that are dying to be worn. Choose yours.

Here are the 10 things we'll *all* be wearing in 2019

Just as you were all getting comfortable with your winter wardrobes and rediscovering the art of layering, the close of 2018 has got some of us thinking about our 2019 wardrobe.

And - despite a growing number of designers experimenting with the calendar by producing 'see-now-buy-now' collections (to keep up with the impatient demand to own things IMMEDIATELY) - thankfully the majority of the fashion industry still shows its pieces a season in advance, giving the impatient amongst us a sneak peek at upcoming sartorial highlights.

And next year looks set to be a scorcher...

We may have another few months to wait before we can *truly* indulge, but before these pieces land and the trends inevitably take hold of the high street (hey, did we or did we not predict the animal print renaissance back in Feb...?) we can have a lot of fun conjuring up visions of our next season aesthetic.

Indah Nada Puspita's hijab program also attended the Jakarta Fashion Week 2019 several times. In one look, Indah had time to show off a style that was so feminine and elegant. This woman poses in a nude color dress combined with a pair of high heels and matching colored hijab.

Sarah Sabila also attended the event which was held at Senayan City, Central Jakarta. This girl chose to appear bold for the style. Sarah posed wearing a black mini dress wrapped in a checkered outer and a pair of contemporary boots.

All the Major Model Moments You Can’t Miss from Fall/Winter 2018 Fashion Month

Fashion month has just begun, and this year's catwalks are already shaping up to be some of the industry's most diverse yet. From newborn babies to fierce old ladies, fashion week has seen models from every walk of life on the runway.

The festivities began in New York City, and NYFW started off more casually than ever with Hailey Baldwin and Kendall Jenner's athleisure looks at Adidas Originals' unique, architectural presentation. Gigi Hadid made her 2018 debut with pink hair at Jeremy Scott, while Kaia Gerber walked her first runway of the year at Tom Ford.

Of course, that is just the beginning of what we'll see from these veteran models during the four busy weeks of fashion shows. From Moschino to Marc Jacobs, we can expect many a major model moment on the runway. And this year's Burberry fall 2018 show did not disappoint, with Cara Delevingne and fellow models strutting down the catwalk in LGBTQ-friendly patchwork sweaters and striped fur coats.

From New York to London, Milan, and Paris, the hottest designers are showing off their fall/winter 2018 collections and using some major star power to do so. Scroll down to see what happens when these experts hit the runway, and you’ll understand why we’re seeing stars.

How Ralph Lauren’s Vacation-Inspired Spring Fashion Show Came Together

Today in New York, Ralph Lauren sent his spring/summer 2018 collection down the runway. Inspired by the Lauren family's home in Jamaica, the show featured barefoot models, laid-back looks with a distinctly beachy feel, and (of course) a whole lot of classic RL charm.

"Everyone wishes for a magical place where they can step out of time into the beauty of nature," Lauren said in a press release. "For Spring 2018, I wanted to share the mood, the light, the blue and white freshness of my retreat in Jamaica. My collections for women and men conjure up the carefree, sophisticated style of this special experience—exuberant, luxurious, timeless!"

But before everything made its New York Fashion Week debut, there was work to be done. Looks had to be decided upon, fits perfected, and models cast. Here's a look at the final fitting before the show, where the guys donned the clothes they wore down the runway today.

What's particularly interesting—besides getting a look behind the proverbial curtain—is seeing how things shift and final decisions are made. Take, for instance, this look, which initially included a suit jacket:

5 Trends To Embrace In 2018

Set your sights on the new season? Up your game with Vogue's edit of trends for 2018. We're talking ugly shoes (it's a thing!), the fresh model face to know, and the unlikely return of cycling shorts... all beautifully illustrated by fashion's favourite illustrator, Tanya Ling.

Cycling shorts are back, requisitioned from the Eighties aerobics studio. Well, only if they’re beautifully rendered in lace, as seen at Saint Laurent, where they were worn underneath a voluminous ball gown, or Nina Ricci, where they underscored tassel-heavy shirts. Time to tone up those thighs.

The style cognoscenti don't waste time with handbag clutter. Streamline your daily haul and upgrade your wallet: with plastic as a key catwalk trend at Valentino (seen here, with a studded purse interior), Chanel and Céline, your entirely see-through handbag should only reveal a neatly curated interior.

Any summer wedding guest can throw a cardigan over their dress - it’s those who are fastening them at the throat with a bejewelled brooch, arms left trailing (à la Erdem) that are winning right now.

You're never too old to play with porcelain: a raspberry chain of embroidered dolls on white cotton at Simone Rocha, inspired by her collection of childhood toys, is the new-season update on florals. If that feels a little girly, try chintzy feet: Mulberry's sleek ankle boots come with a bone china heel fit for a country house dresser.

We love the lissom Yorkshire teen Fran Summers, who stormed spring at Saint Laurent, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton and Céline in her debut season. Her agent signed her up on the premise that she reminded him of a young Natalie Portman, playing child assassin Mathilda in Léon. True to form, she's killing it.

Why Do Men Cheat on Their Hot Wives?

Dr. Jenn Mann is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and InStyle columnist. She is best known for her hit VH1 show, Couples Therapy with Dr. Jenn, and is a bestselling author, most recently of The Relationship Fix.

Our worst Lemonade fears were seemingly confirmed when Jay-Z released his confessional album 4:44, alluding to infidelity. But it wasn’t yesterday, when Jay-Z referenced his cheating outright in an interview with T: The New York Times Magazine that we were 100% sure.

Any time an idealized celebrity couple struggles with infidelity, it can push our buttons. In addition to crushing our romantic fantasies about perfect relationships, it puts personal anxieties into high gear. I have had more than one person in my therapy practice say, “I [insert gorgeous star here]'s husband cheated on her, what hope is there for me?” But the assumptions behind that thinking is flawed—that cheating is about how attractive, sexy, or desirable a partner is. Really, that's not what infidelity is about.

I find that most often, people cheat because of a lack of connection in the relationship. Most people don't realize how important creating, maintaining, and nurturing connection in a relationship is. There will always be temptations—for preternaturally beautiful celebrities, multiply that by about a thousand—but when a couple is feeling connected the odds that a partner will act on those temptations decreases significantly. Studies show that only 7% of cheating women and 8% of men cheated due to sexual dissatisfaction, the vast majority cheated either because a lack of emotional connection in the relationship or a combination of a lack of emotional and sexual connection in the relationship. It is clear from Jay Z‘s words that this was the case for him. He has shared how his experience from his childhood made him shut down emotionally, making it difficult to connect.

Gigi Hadid shares her thoughts on Victoria's Secret after missing out on 2017 show

Gigi Hadid has shared her thoughts on this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, from the comfort of her own home of course, after the model was forced to bow out of this year’s runway.

Hadid confirmed on November 16 she would not be walking, with rumours being it was due to backlash over a video of the model poking fun at a Buddha cookie, which offended fans.

“I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year. Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can't wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can't wait for next year! :) x,” she wrote.

Now, Hadid has shared her thoughts on the show, having viewed it as it aired in the US yesterday. Taking to Instagram Stories, Hadid expressed her excitement for younger sister Bella as she took to the runway and also congratulated the Victoria’s Secret team.

“Excited to watch my gorg lil sis (so proud @bellahadid) and all my angelic friends tonight #vsfs. HUGE LOVE to all the girls and the whole VS team!!”

The model added: “A year of prep and hard work deserves major celebration!!!! (Even though u never stop and you'll already be planning '18 tomorrow morning if not already @ed_razek).”

Gigi had originally confirmed in August she would be joining the model line-up in Shanghai but continued to receive comments on social media telling her she was not welcome in China due to the video in question. It was not known if it was a visa issue or a decision by the model herself.

Today's Everyday Fashion: #GivingTuesday

I love blogging about fashion, but it's definitely not my life's purpose. A career path, certainly. But things with deeper meaning like giving to and helping others, are things I think about more often, and are far more exciting than clothes! That's why I love the idea of #GivingTuesday, the day that falls after Cyber Monday and Black Friday. (I only wish that it came before Thanksgiving - giving first, THEN the shopping!) Today is a time to reflect, and strategize how we can give back.

TIME - Let's start with the one thing that absolutely anyone can contribute no matter your age or station in life: your time. Many nonprofits and charities could not function without a large amount of manpower. Take the Feeding Children Everywhere initiative we recently participated in - they sent 4.4 millions meals to Puerto Rico, which required the help of 54,000 volunteers! Does it feel like your schedule is too packed and there's no way you can help? Please hear me when I say that I understand that feeling. During our busiest season we work 120+ hours a week, and barely have time for self-care or socializing let alone volunteering. But Joshua and I recently spent a Saturday afternoon cooking for and serving a Thanksgiving meal for the homeless during an absolutely INSANE week, and it was magical. Volunteering is funny like that - when you are stressed to the MAX and have zero time is often the best time to do it!

SKILL - There's using your two hands and feet to volunteer (TIME) and then there's using your qualifications or (SKILL) to help others! Whatever your abilities may be, there are tons of exciting ways you can make a difference. A great resource for getting started is Taproot, a website that allows you to enter your skills, browse available projects, and apply to help pro bono. For me and Joshua, this is definitely one of our favorite ways to give back. It means sitting on the board of a nonprofit, donating consulting and/or social media services, or doing pro bono blog posts or photography sessions. We don't always share publicly, but a couple examples you've seen here on the blog include going to Haiti to establish best practices for a nonprofit/fair trade brand, and utilizing one of the unique perks of my job (free clothes!) by donating or doing closet sales for a cause.
