Fashion tips for Christmas party season

According to the lighthearted survey by department store David Jones, 45 per cent of fashion mishaps witnessed are tacky Christmas-themed accessories or outfits, and 38 per cent involve guests ending up barefoot. David Jones womenswear buying manager Teneille Ferguson said it was important to stick to a dress code and make an effort if the occasion called for it.

“People struggling to walk in heels or, even worse, carrying them is never a good look,” she said. Flats and embellished sandals and slides are having a moment, so it’s the perfect excuse to avoid heels if they’re not going to stand the test of time at a function. “Being comfortable in what you’re wearing is always the safest bet to avoid a fashion faux pas. Avoiding gimmicky accessories is also key.” Ms Ferguson said the festive season was a great time to wear something a little different and more adventurous than your usual style called for. “For a work Christmas party, wearing something sophisticated and not baring too much skin would be advised,” she said. “For a barbecue or something more informal — a pretty floral dress with sandals would be perfect, as would an off-the-shoulder top or cami with jeans.”

Etiquette expert Anna Musson said the most common festive season faux pas include giving gag gifts, re-gifting without checking for cards, and gifts from the two-dollar shop. “Never arrive empty-handed, never let gift givers know you don’t like their gift, don’t avoid saying ‘Merry Christmas’. It is Christmas so embrace it. And the big no-no, being noticeably drunk at the office Christmas party,” she said.

Gigi Hadid is 100 percent ready for Christmas.

Need proof? On Thursday in New York, the model headed to a Reebok event to celebrate her accomplishments with the athletic brand and also welcome the holiday spirit. Though it may be cold AF in Manhattan, she flaunted those killer abs in athleisure, not forgetting to give a shoutout to Santa with that red fluffy hat.

Over the weekend, Jane Fonda had quite the fabulous time at her 80th birthday party in Atlanta. Wouldn't you want to party with Jane? We wish we had been invited. Jewelry trends at Fall/Winter 2016-2017 Fashion Week

After Spring/Summer’s Nineties style tsunami, a wind of fresh innovation blew through the ranks of jewelry designers for Fall/Winter 2016-2017, with cuffs and bracelets over sleeves, strings of pearls, single earrings, layering and safety pins all hitting the runway. Our new jewelry obsessions from New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks.
The pearl has been emerging from the cocoon of its rather staid and traditional image for the past few seasons, revisited as ear cuffs and graphic chokers by a new generation of inspired young jewelry designers. But this winter sees a return to its Parisian roots, albeit with a vintage twist, as if it’s been borrowed and paired with denim patches, military jackets and the sports sweaters that are so very now.
.Long, graphic, hoops or earcuffs, the only way to wear earrings right now is on their own. The single earring was one of the biggest trends of the season, first emerging on the runways in New York and London and confirmed as a trend in Paris.

After emerging as a trend for Spring/Summer 2016, the Nineties revival has taken firm hold, producing rebel jewelry to match. With piercings at Dior and elsewhere, chokers with silver-dipped chains and layers of necklaces worn between leather jackets and hoodies, it was chrome and black as far as the eye could see.

Earring mash-ups was another bold statement backed by designers this season, taking in several styles in one look.

After uncut necklaces and pendants appeared on the Spring/Summer 2016 runway, crystal mania took hold with raw stones featuring again on the catwalk for winter. Radically different stones appeared as earrings at Proenza Schouler and provided an anchoring detail to strengthen the impact of clothing at Dries Van Noten and Calvin Klein.

After ear jackets that hang under the lobe and ear cuffs on the cartilage, the earring's latest incarnation cuts right across the ear itself in a balanced and original piece with plenty of character.

Fashion Custom Christmas Trend 2016

Most of us will agree that it is impossible to create a New Year festive mood without a Christmas tree. It is believed that the custom of decorating a Christmas tree has spread across the world from Germany. The tradition began in 1513 by the German theologian Martin Luther. On Christmas Eve he was returning home along a forest path and fixed his eyes on the night sky. Luther  admired the beauty of the stars so much that it seemed to him as if stars were sparkling on the top of fir-trees. Thus he put a small fir-tree on the table and decorated it with candles and put a star on the top in memory of the star of Bethlehem that pointed the way to the cave where Jesus was born.

In the 18th-19th centuries fir-trees started to be decorated not only throughout Germany, but also in England, Austria, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Denmark and America, 7days.ru reports. At first it was decorated by candles, fruits and sweets. Later toys made of wax, cotton wool, cardboard and glass became fashionable.

As for fashion trends of 2016, this year Christmas trees should shine and sparkle as much as possible. The most successful combinations of colors in the coming year will be red and yellow, brown and gold, red and white, green, yellow and red.

This year decoration of the festive tree by handmade toys is in fashion. You can both sew or knit Christmas toys.  One can also cook them. It will make your fir-tree  not only beautiful but tasty as well. We should not forget about the traditional method of decorating a Christmas tree - of dried fruits, shells, cones.

The culmination of the Christmas tree is always a decoration of the top. The most popular decoration is the standard red star or even with an angel. If you want luck to come to your house you should choose the symbol of the coming year for decorating the top of the Christmas tree – a monkey.
