This Positive T-Shirt Label Gives New Meaning to the Phrase Free the Nipple
The T-shirt label HighRack Honey embraces, well, racks. You know, bodacious breasts! Boobs. Magical orbs that sway to and fro. Started by Melbourne-based stylist Tessa McGregor, HighRack Honey’s seedy-chic tops have become a bit of a hit, attracting the attention of a slew of Australian Instagram stars, as well as Kylie Jenner and Victoria’s Secret Angel Romee Strijd. The shirts range in how much they reveal—from cheeky, simple pieces like the ever-popular Darlin’ shirt in black and white with snap buttons down the front to the frilly ruched crop top in gingham that is appropriately titled Boobtube.
McGregor’s inspirations are all over the map—’80s swimsuit shoots, ’90s Victoria’s Secret catalogs, and retro porn, not to mention a general appreciation for the timeless beauty of the female form. “I wanted to make something you could feel as sexy in as your lingerie. Something that flatters the body,” says McGregor, adding, “I loved in the ’90s that a plain white singlet with jeans was the ultimate sexy outfit. I wanted to bring that back, but add something to it.” McGregor started her brand three years ago by embroidering tops that she had purchased at local secondhand shops. “I experimented with styles and cuts, and figured out what I felt most amazing in. Then finally we were able to have our own manufactured. They were based on a mix of secondhand tops I liked,” she says. “And who doesn’t love a ribbed tee?”
