Long Layers. Another fantastic hairstyle for those keen to keep their hair long. Adding short and long layers will stop your hair from falling flat – and accentuate the soft waves.

Sophisticated Pixie. Pixie haircuts are just perfect for ladies with thick hair, because they minimize styling time – as well as subtly reveal how lush your hair is.

Smoky Mauve Bob. Not a fan of silver, but would like to experiment with color? Mauve deserves to be at the top of your list!

BRILLIANT SHADES OF CHRISTMAS HAIR COLOR

The holiday season is officially here, and today, I want to talk about some fantastic Christmas hair color ideas!

When I originally wrote this blog post, I was on maternity leave, and my husband stayed home to help me take care of our babies that day.

It snowed all day, and nobody in my family needed to leave the house.

My husband and I decorated our tree and set up the Christmas decorations. I wore our newborn baby in a Boba wrap, and our 1-year-old daughter generously helped decorate.

I remember that day- it was so relaxing and really put me in the Christmas spirit that year.

This year, as I sit here updating this post to be republished, it’s almost the exact same scenario, except now I have two sets of toddler’s hands, helping us decorate.

As challenging as that can be, I wouldn’t have it any other way. These are memories I’ll never forget, and it takes Christmas to a whole new level for me.

So what better way for me to show my love of Christmas than to showcase some delicious shades of Christmas hair color? I’m not gonna lie… they’re pretty amazing…

SILVER HAIR
I’m gonna kick off this list with good ‘ole silver hair since silver is a color typically used in Christmas decor. Additionally, it’s a cooler-toned color that resembles ice (for that reason, it’s also on my list of winter hair color).
If you’re into silver hair, you’re sure to love my list of 10 different shades of grey!

GOLDEN RED BALAYAGE
Spoiler alert: most colors on this list are different variations of typical Christmas colors. On that note, it’s pretty common to see red and gold used together in Christmasy things.
What better way to highlight that idea with some gold and red balayage?

BURGUNDY
Okay, burgundy is not a color commonly used in Christmas decor. However, most people like to let the wine flow around the holidays, making it a staple of a Christmas diet.
If you like burgundy hair, be sure to check out my 10 other shades of red hair color!

STEEL TEAL
I love the idea of mixing green and silver together to make a fancy, fun Christmas hair color. I feel like you can use any shade of green (including teal), and it could be either vibrant or faded to look the part.
Either way, it’s still gonna look like Christmas.

The Coolest Hair Color Trends for 2019

Over the past few years, we've seen unicorn hair and rainbow pastels give way to hair-color trends that make you want to roll up to your nearest coffee shop. (See cold brew, dark roast, and blond roast, for starters.) Fortunately, this year is giving us a welcome (but not boring) breather with the onset of subtle highlight techniques, extra dimension, and more natural-looking hair colors overall.

Good news considering the upkeep is much, much more manageable, even if "natural" still requires a couple of hours in the chair. And they offer something for everyone. We talked to the industry's top hair colorists around the country to get the scoop on the must-try trends. Ahead, the hair color trends we'll be rocking the rest of 2019 and into the next decade.

Baby Blond
If you've been wanting to go light without verging into full-on platinum territory, give baby blond a try. Ask for a warm, pale base color with almost white highlights. Stephanie Brown, master colorist at IGK Salon Soho in New York City, loves this color because it's a pretty change for spring—and universally flattering. "Since this is a mixture of warm and cool, it works well with all skin tones," she says.

Face-Framing Highlights
The seasons change—so why shouldn't your hair? "Every winter we seem to go darker with our hair, and every summer we want to go lighter," says Rebekah Nash, colorist at Cutler Salon in New York City. "A great middle ground would be to add highlights that frame your face." This brightens your face by enhancing both your eyes and bone structure, she says.

Tweed Hair
According to Chicago colorist Rex Jimieson, his clients have been moving away from the darker roots and lighter ends they've been loving in recent seasons. Instead they've been asking for a look that Jimieson dubbed "tweed hair," essentially subtle highlights that are evenly distributed. "A contrast is still present, but not as ‘overachiever’ as seen in recent seasons," he says. One of our favorite versions of the look? This rich brown with golden balayage pieces from Simplicity Salon in south Florida.

Mushroom Blond
Mushroom blond is an in-between color—not quite blond, not quite brunette, making it the perfect transitional shade. "It’s right in between light brown and dark blond, like an ashier version of brond," says Brown. Because it doesn’t really fall into either blond or brunette, it’s a great shade for blonds looking to dip their toe into the dark side, or for brunettes wanting to go a little lighter.

Pixie Cuts That Are Actually Worth Chopping All of Your Hair Off For

Listen, we understand that a pixie cut can seem like a terrifying style to try, but we feel the need to remind you that not only will you automatically look like a badass baller, but you'll also be in the company of more than 70 celebrities who have already taken a chance on a pair of scissors.

So to get you inspired to finally make the chop, please take a gander at these 70 ridiculously pretty pixie cuts. We won't be offended if you stop reading to call your stylist.

Rowan Blanchard's Shaggy Pixie

Unsuprisingly, no one could close their mouths about Rowan Blanchard's pixie when she dropped the dramatic debut on Instagram at the top of the new year. Recently, she's been growing out baby bangs and long side-burns, and I'm really feeling it. Lesson: your bangs don't have to look uniform to look cool.

Teyana Taylor's Curled Pixie

For just one second, try not to stare at Teyana Taylor's unreal abs and look at her dope pixie. This is giving me '90s vibes in the best way possible. Mini barrel curls wherever you see fit gives cuts such character and flair.

Emilia Clarke's Exaggerated Bangs

There's no reason you can't experiment with length. Why yes, pixie cuts and shaggy bangs that touch your nose, flawlessly executed by Emilia Clarke, do in fact go quite nicely together.

Halsey's Icy Blonde Pixie

Singer Halsey looks so stunning with short hair. OK, she looks stunning in many hairstyles but this pixie is at the top of the list. Lifted layers like this add height to your hair, even when it's cut so close.

Jada Pinkett Smith's Slicked-Down Pixie

My favorite hot mom, Jada Pinkett Smith, in this slicked-down, highlighted pixie proves less is more.

Pixie Cuts That Will Inspire You to Go Short

Rocking a short, pixie hairstyle takes guts, but the payoff is worth it. On top of being totally chic, pixie cuts tend to be no-muss, no-fuss meaning they can save you tons of time in the morning. If you've been wanting to make a big change or simply update your current style, look no further than these celebrities for inspiration. From sexy side parts to boyish fringe, your new pixie cut is straight ahead!

Sweeping Bangs

If you're ready to take the plunge and go short but don't want to leave your entire face exposed, a sweet side-swept look like Kerry Washington's gives you the security of bangs with the ease of a pixie.

Side Swoops

Katy Perry adds retro drama to her short style with added height and deeply side-parted bangs. Keep it in place with a medium-hold hairspray like Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode Flexible Hold Hairspray ($30, sephora.com).

Girly Curls

Ruth Negga's naturally tighter curls are smoothed out for a sweet, soft finish that's totally playful.

Wispy Flips

Agyness Deyn's super-short 'do is framed by fun, flippy edges. To help those pieces defy gravity without looking stiff, try a soft-hold product like Ouidad Clear Control Pomade ($26, sephora.com).

Super-Short Shag

Just because your hair is short that doesn't mean you can't enjoy stylish layers. A pixie-length interpretation of the shag is slightly edgy, especially when worn a little messy like Kris Jenner does.
