Stupidity comes in many forms. In this case, it comes from a young man who thought he could hold a beer can in one hand and push a Ford truck that was performing a burnout with the other. Not surprisingly, he slipped and the spinning rear-wheel of the pick-up truck matted with his arm for a few painful seconds - if anything else, this had to hurt. But at least he didn't spill his beer...Thanks for the tip Sam!
GM has released the first official video of its new BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK rival, the 2010 Cadillac SRX. The compact crossover-SUV-CUV-we don't know the difference any more, will be unveiled at the Detroit motor show in January with sales scheduled to start during the second quarter of 2009. Cadillac has not announced any details on the powertrain options -or at least not officially- but expect to see the SRX being offered in most markets with the CTS' duo of 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engines. In this video, a police car attempts to pull over a large truck on a Chinese highway but the trucker constantly keeps swerving around blocking the officers from overtaking him. Even though the trucker's actions threaten not only the life of the police officers, but also the safety of people in other cars that happened to be on the road, the whole scene is deliriously funny. Last week Mercedes revealed the SLR Stirling Moss, a final-run, limited-edition speedster version of the SLR supercar named in tribute to British race ace Stirling Moss. The most exclusive variant of the SLR is powered by a supercharged V8 engine with 650HP for a zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in less than 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). In late November, Porsche officially opened its new Driving Experience Centre adjacent to the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit in Northamptonshire, England. The Centre offers a variety of track configurations and surface conditions on which drivers can check out the potential of all Porsche road cars. In this video, one of the Porsche Driving Consultants takes a lap at the facilities of the German firm's centre, including the low friction circuit, the ice hill, the kick plate, the handling circuit and the off-road course.
While we'd like nothing more than to see the new 2009 Focus RS tackling the corners of the famous Nurburgring race track in Germany, for the time being we'll have to be content with static footage of Ford's fastest ever European production model. In this promotional video, Ford gives us an exterior tour of the 305HP three-door hatchback that will go on sale across Europe in March 2009.
Maserati has released new video material from the Bologna Motor Show where the Italian carmaker debuted its new MC Sport Line customization program - a series of options that enhance the sporty performance and look of the vehicles. The first model in Maserati's line-up to benefit from the MC Sport Line program is the GranTurismo S which gains a forest of carbon fiber accessories inside and out, as well as suspension modifications. Spectators at the final stage of day two at last weekend's Wales Rally GB had the chance to see Ford's highly anticipated Focus RS in motion as former double World Rally Champion and ex-Ford WRC driver Marcus Gronholm took the 305HP hatchback for as spin at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. Before showing off the new Focus RS, Ford also gave spectators a blast from the past with a parade of previous generation RS models including the first Escort and the Sierra Cosworth. The new flagship Focus RS which goes on sale in Europe early in Spring 2009, is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine producing 305HP and 440Nm peak torque.
