                                                                                                 location: Vienna
                                                                                                 hotel: Topazz
                                                                                                 ph. me

My third stop in Vienna was at the Hotel Topazz where I spent a few wonderful days. From the minute I saw the building on the internet I knew that this will by the ending station for my trip. Located in the 1st district of Vienna, Hotel Topazz is surrounded by more than sixty museums, cathedrals, churches, luxury shopping, dining and famous coffeehouses. Brown mosaic facade, which absorbs and reflects the natural light, ensures that this building is a real eye-catcher, so I needed to check it!

Highlights
- ideal city center location, just a few steps from St. Stephen's Cathedral
- Vienna’s first green upscale hotel (low-energy usage, locally sourced food and the use of green building materials )
-  the hotel’s dark façade is dotted with large oval windows (designed by award-winning Viennese architects BWM Architekten &Partner and Architekt DI Michael Manzenreiter)
- each of the oval windows has a divan bed integrated into the windowsill where you can relax
- guestrooms feature soft furnishings in earthy shades, wooden paneling and lush curtains (one-of-a-kind lighting fixtures, fauteuils and fabrics are inspired by early 20th century Viennese architects, artists and designers
- super comfy bed with premium bedding
- padded doors for absolute discretion ;)
- the spacious bathrooms are inspired by luxurious 1930s style and are made of chrome, nickel, marble and fine china (you have inner city view while you having a shower, so coool)
- great cosmetic products ( forgot the name but I will update it soon as I remember)
- every guest is a VIP in the Privileged Club ( which means: free minibar, free high speed WiFi, iPad and Nespresso machine on request, selection of hot and cold beverages at Salon from 16 to 17:30h etc)
- the hotel's cozy and inspiring Salon re-creates the easy-going yet luxurious vibe of a private turn-of-the-century Viennese house
- very silent hotel, perfect for relaxation
- across the street, at sister property Hotel Lamée, guests have access to Bloom – the hotel's café, bar (place to be), and bistro.

Food and drinks
- simple breakfast concept with cold Buffett and cooked meals
- seasonal, regional and home made products (try croissant with raspberry jam)
- Salon is at -1 floor so you can enjoy the high ceiling view
- unlimited glass of wine ;)

People
- instead of a reception in its classic way the hotel provides kind of a butler service. You will have a warm welcome and the staff will make your stay even more enjoyable
- as I already mentioned it above, the hotel is very silent and calm and if you are not in the mood to chat or hang out you will not see even one person, and yes believe me, it's possible to experience even that despite the fact that you are at the hotel full of people. Or I was getting up too early. ;)
- anyway, the staff will fulfill all your requests but they will not bother you with tons of information or too much of kindness which can become fake at some point.

Price
You can check the rates directly on the Hotel Topazz website or at Designhotels.com cause they are member of it.

Experience
The architectural concept of the first LENIKUS Designhotel stands for Vienna as an open-minded metropolis. The architecture of the hotel includes the past, present and future of European art and culture and reflects it.
The Topazz is a place for those who wants to relax, who likes simplicity and glamour, but it's also a great place for business travelers. Guests, who are seeking the comfort of a 4+star hotel and at the same time enjoying the intimacy of a small house, will feel comfortable here and that's what I really liked about this hotel.
Intimacy.

p.s. thank you Bettina for everything!

And today we are continuing with my guide to Vienna (check the first one here).
25hours hotel at Museumsquartier was my second start point so here are some tips while you in this neighborhood!

Must see
Museumsquartier - art and food united in the largest inner-city cultural space. Place where you can relax with pavement cafes, fountains and the cult Enzos (furniture designed for lounging in the sun) surrounded by:
Museum of Modern Art (mumok) - the largest museum in Central Europe for art since modernism
The Leopold Museum - one of the world's most important assemblages of Austrian art
and the Kunsthalle - so be sure to visit at least one of these museums.
Naschmarkt - Vienna’s best-known market has around 120 market stands and restaurants for a colorful culinary offering ranging from Viennese to Indian, from Vietnamese to Italian. The Naschmarkt has developed into a meeting point for young and old.

Must eat/drink
Café Drechsler - place where tradition meets a stylish and modern atmosphere
On Market - you will love the colorful textile artworks
Brass Monkey - cute little cupcake shop
Ulrich - try Flat pizza here
Café Leopold - hip and modern place at MQ
Pure Living Bakery - cute bakery
Corbaci - lovely interior with oriental vibes

Must be
Dachboden 25Hours - by day or night, you will love this place!
Halle - in the evening hours at MQ, have a drink or two
Puff, die Bar

Must shop
despite the fact that the Mariahilfer Straße is considered as the most important shopping street, I don't like it, especially not during the hot summer day! I would rather visit several concept stores like Park or Ostform and skip the shopping in this area.
At least you can do is to buy something to eat or drink at lovely place Feinkoch. ;)

And while you in town, be sure to visit Imperial Vienna too! Stroll along the splendid baroque Schönbrunn and Belvedere Palaces. Don't forget the  Zoo  which is the oldest existing zoo in the world!

p.s. didn't want to carry my camera cause we were strolling up and down all day long, but I'm preparing also the third part with tons of photos, so be ready for that! ;) All places are linked and you can check them with one click!

                                                                                                   location: Vienna
                                                                                                   hotel: 25hours Hotel at Museumsquartier
                                                                                                   ph. me

And we are continuing the Viennese tour.
My second stop was at the 25hours Hotel at Museumsquartier which is located in Vienna's 7th district, home to the shopping quarter Neubaugasse, the museums and the heart of Vienna's young, liberal, creative scene. Inspired by the city’s Opera, Life Ball, Prater and countless music and theater stages, the hotel’s design is organically distinctive. It creates a fantastical world of circus, spectacle and extravagance, with just a touch of madness.

Highlights
- the spacious foyer is a lively marketplace for hotel guests, local residents, curious passers by and hipsters from the seventh district
- der Dachboden loft with bar and rooftop terrace (is one of the best rooftop bars in Vienna)
- 1500 foodmakers and Burger de ville (food courts at the hotel)
- photo booth at the reception
- jogging corner, where you can grab a small towel or bottle of water before you start your running session
- "grab and go" breakfast if you are in a hurry
- kiosk that sells practical goods and souvenirs
- circus theme developed by Armin Fischer and his Dreimeta team (don't book a room if you are afraid of clowns ;))
- the L+ category room is a real highlight with open-air baths on a private balcony
- old suitcases as TV shelves in suites are super cool
- stop the water while using me, all natural cosmetics
- free bike rental
- complimentary WiFi

Food and drinks
 - the 1500 FOODMAKERS restaurant likes it simple and concentrates on pizza. It's name is a witty allusion to the number of minutes there are to enjoy food in 25 hours, so you gotta try pizza over here
- you will find California’s typical relaxed, laidback attitude and interior mixed with Italian food
- in the outdoor dining area and beer garden you can find a burger van "Burger de Ville" so you need to try their funky burgers too
- don't skip a drink or two at the Dachboden with an amazing view

People
- staff is cool and helpful
- people are really mad here and they are not joking. ;)
- if you are young, urban/ hipster kind of person (or you feel like this) than this is the right hotel for you

Price
- starting price for the smallest room is cheaper than in the most of the hotels which are members to the Designhotels.com , check it on their website.

Experience
It is surreal and surprising. Every single corner hides some cool ideas and you will love it. The lines between imagination and reality are blurred, so don't miss the opportunity to visit the the rooftop Dachboden bar  while they are having Swing&Lindy Hop night (check my short video on the Instagram Here)! It will transfer you back to the 40's! There were some serious dancers and it is definitely popular with the locals, and they always know what's best in town.

You just have to come as you are and you will enjoy.

p.s. thank you Roland for everything!

                                                                                                    ph. me

I have never been a typical tourist. Instead of chasing like crazy and sightseeing I always preferred to sit on some cool place, grab a drink and observe, pretending to be a resident of the city. And I firmly believe that this is the best way to feel the atmosphere and get to known better other cultures and people and after that you will easily discover every town you visit.
Before every trip, I google! I google like crazy! Searching for a new and must see places: what's fresh, what's popular, what's trendy, where are the best design spots etc. And after I arrive in every hotel I try to get even more information from the hotel's staff cause no one knows better than the locals.
With bunch of papers, names and directions I jump into bed and start creating a route.
No strict plans, just some notes, cause I don't wanna feel pressure to see everything. I like to enjoy and absorb.
So let's start this first part of my guide!
The Guesthouse Hotel is the ideal starting point for strolls through the city and visiting Vienna's hotspots. But if you are not staying at this hotel, I recommend at least to have breakfast here cause it's worth it. The organic wood-fired bakery Gragger provides fresh bread and pastries and you will love it.

Must eat/drink
The Guesthouse Hotel - all day breakfast and coffee at the Brasserie
Palmenhaus - only 400 meters away from the hotel you will find this architectural jewel built in 1901. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy under the palms and tranquil view of the Burggarten (if you like butterflies you can check the Butterfly House next to the restaurant).
Würstelstand - next to the Albertina Museum, don't skip this if you like different type of sausages
LeSchanz - Wiener Schokolade König, near St.Stephen's Square
Clementine im Glashaus - you have to try something to eat between clementine trees
Burgring - serves raw vintage chic and down to earth food
Cafe Stadtkind - the ideal place to start or end your shopping tour
Cafe Sacher Wien - cause you need to take at least one piece of this famous cake
Figlmüller - it can be crowded because of the tourists, but believe me it is the best Schnitzel you will try, ever.

Must see
Albertina Museeum
Augustinerkirche
Wiener Staatsoper/ Staatsopernmuseum
Winterpalais
in the shadow of the St. Stephan's Cathedral there are so many well established galleries, if you are interesting in those kind of places just google it.

Must be
Albertina Passage - one of the finest dinner clubs in Vienna. The live swin, jayy and blues music will take back into another time and place.
Roberto American Bar
Porgy and Bess - Jazzclub
also the Guesthouse Hotel and Palmenhaus are places to be during the day.

Must shop
Steffl - famous department store in Vienna
Peek&Cloppenburg - not a fan of their stores at all, but during the Sale period you can find interesting piece
(Red Valentino, Max Mara, Theory etc.)
Cos - don't skip this place, they have amazing pieces
Albertina Museum - has really cool shop.

And that's it for today, for this area around my first hotel. All places are linked so you can check the address and what are they offering.
