PHOTOSHOOT Vol.1
I have a real desire of creating different content and experimenting with various creative outlets and styles. In order to continue to develop I like to step out of my comfort zone and shake things up by collaborating with and meetings as many creative types as possible.
Who doesn’t love meeting other creative types and endeavoring on a creative adventure together. It changes your perspective and opens what I call “art eye” more whilst stepping out of your comfort zone. I had the wonderful opportunity of spending a few hours with Jon Cordiano and Mary Tham Photography.
Jon and I discussed the concept ahead of time and luckily we were both in sync with what we were thinking and developed the style further of what we wanted to achieve by creating a mood board. Once that was done, a few props were required to pull the whole thing together and presto we were off to meet with the
photographer.
photographer.
Mary is a freelance Photographer based in Melbourne, Australia and specialises in Street and Fashion Photography. Her work has been featured in various magazines and it was wonderful to gain the experience with her and Jon. After all I am no professional model.
The good thing about this experience is that there was not one director and everyone could bounce ideas off each other, have input and bought something to the table. Fluid and authentic, it was great to have such improvisation. Check out the images below, you can find us all on Instagram at the Mary Tham Photography, Jon Cordiano and GFASHCOLLECTIVE.

Bonjour de France Bakery
Monday 19th June
On main street in Blackburn there's a french cafe I've always wanted to stop by, though never have. And now I recall why: I don't feel comfortable shopping at places where you'll find out how much it is at the checkout.
There's a few tables, though I love getting takeaway and sitting by the lake (with company, never alone, secluded places aren't safe, also magpies) or gazebo (which is now gone, and so are all the trees...). Realistically it's a dash to the trains, and eating while commuting.
Everything looks amazing! But labels, dates and prices on the smaller items would be great. Is it even legal? Not to have prices? As always I'm curious as to, did you really make all this today? They say yes, but my taste buds say no.
The macaron was bad. Crunchy top, hard and hollow. I've had better ones from the supermarket. It was the worst macaron I have ever had, and if I had the time I would have bought it back to the store. It was stale and most certainly not made today!
I had a dark choc ball with a raspberry filling, odd, perhaps it wasn't meant to be bitten into? It appears to be a failed attempt to create one of those fancy chocolates. But it was old.
Fortunately the Eclair was perfect! The slightly sweetened cream and fresh shell.
Would I be be back? Fine. For an Eclair. I'm not too keen on trying much here, due to bad experiences and lack of prices. Also the lies that everything was made today.
Monday 26th June
We had the vanilla slice $4 which was very tall! Make no mistake this serves two. It was very good with a good contrast of pure sugar and the custardy filling that wasn't too sweet.
Definitely recommended, this and the eclair, though it's best that they're both shared. For these don't leave you wanting more, more like I need to balance this with a salad.

These are all the prices they have, savory items only.

Why is the only thing with a price tag the eclair? And only today too. Me thinks they made too much today and need to promote them. Is it the cheapest thing in the shop? Do the prices change daily, depending in popularity or time? It makes me feel uneasy.

Their bigger cakes seem to be popular on the occasions that we've been there.
If you can tear your eyes away from all the sweet treats, they also do pies and baguettes.
Macaron + Choc Ball + Eclair = $9.30

From the French bakery we had a passionfruit round eclair with custard. Yum! $4.40. The passionfruit was mixed in with icing sugar mixture to create a matter glaze. It could have used more passionfruit in the custardy filling though. Oh how lovely it must be to be a hobby baker! (We have no kitchen atm.)

A quick lunch from that French place. A chicken lettuce and tomato baguette. Crunchy but not too Crunchy on the outside fluffy within. The filling was basic with no buttery spread or anything. Way too basic for $8. It was medium-ish sized. The way it was filled wasn't great with all the chicken on the side like it was just for show in a shop window... Not practical. Not spread out like subway. Wouldn't get this again. We prefer Nhu Lan (if location wasn't a thing).
Relatively friendly service, honest though? Oh I'm not sure... that macaron was not fresh and they lied... I'd recommend anything with cream really, as the cream has to be fresh or it doesn't work. The eclairs and vanilla slice, expect to spend $4-5 per item.
