In the interest of avoiding upsetting anyone too much - one hopes, with our first post for 2017 - I will point out very early on that the awareness at the joint show at KUDOS was of a very different nature to the underground comix art type of breast awareness at the group show at M2 gallery. Space 1, KUDOS was (on NOW) Bec Litvan's BEAUTY AND THE BREAST; Painting, Photography, beautiful decorative Mastectomy Bras and a table of pearls as part of the installation. Bec told me the work was born out of the change she saw in her mothers personality after the breast cancer operation, the works are intended to bring back the beauty and a sense of the joys of life, and her mum modelled for the photographs in the show. COLLUSIVE MISCELLANY by Amy Claire Mills, Bailee Lobb is not about breasts however it is a work performed in the nude so-to-speak, while interacting with the large wind blown fabrics which have themselves been manipulated through tying & heat - even the fans blowing did nothing to diminish the heat of this performance of which there are to be three more iterations; Live performances in space 2 : Saturdays 14, 21 & 28 January, 1-2pm. Was it a strange coincidence to be at M2 the very next night? GORO a group show of five artists who, as mentioned above are very much in the style of the underground Comix of the 70's & 80's; think Charles Burns, Robert Crumb & H R Giger but with an Aussie-Goth/Surf Culture tie in.. And the breasts? Well of course, Dominatrix style and plenty of them. I must admit I rather enjoyed this show and it was a great and friendly crowd for the lens of Street Fashion Sydney too. There are certain trends that will never go out of style, wearing black and gold is one of them.  There is just something very classy about pairing the colours black and gold together to really make a fantastic fashion statement, and its resurfacing as one of the hottest colour combinations.  


While most people reserve this colour combination for the night time, the look works just as well during the day. You'll probably find plenty of black clothing in your wardrobe as black is a classic colour that works well for both formal and casual affairs.  Try Pair your little black dress with gold high heels. - Combine this look with gold jewelry, like a pair of chandelier gold earrings or a gold cuff bracelet to dress up your look.

Transform your all-black business suit with a gold blouse - Find a gold blouse with ruffles for added femininity.

Balance your use of black and gold. An all-gold outfit might be too much, and an all-black ensemble is simply too dull. Wear black to play down your problem areas since the colour is slimming.  Try combine a pair of black shorts with a gold tank top and gold sandals for a flattering, put together look.

Accessorise in one colour. If you have plenty of black in your wardrobe, keep wearing the same clothes while adding gold accents. A gold scarf over a black T-shirt dresses up this plain look. Carry a gold handbag, which can serve as a neutral when paired with black clothes.

Santa's Gimp and the Amazing World (that was) Rock Photography, with Tony Mott.

Photography (that was), what a strange little blog title especially since Mr Tony Mott is still a photographer. Why the "that was"? Well because, digital photography, of course! In the lead up to this event on the 22nd of November 2015 I was reading how Tony took a year off to help look after his newborn twins; and when he took this photography sabbatical he had 182 rock mag clients on file that he sold pictures to. A year later there were just 22, and now only 3 of the original 182 left! Now of course people are as passionate about music as ever, and as passionate about rock photography as ever.. But it's all gone online, it's getting shot-and-shared by amateurs for free; and let me tell you; it's hard to make a living working for free, Q.E.D. this blog.
But great Rock 'n' Roll photographer that Tony is, he was not going to launch his A-Z of Rock Photography book on a low note, hell no; it was going to be rock-and-roll all the way with way more than just a nod in the direction of "your momma won't like it" :-) hell no - HELL NO! I ask you, what's wrong with kids today? All signing up for frequent flyer points and all that consumer loyalty shit and a free cup of coffee - You know REBELLION - is still the only cool gig in town - stop nerding, lets get back to ROCKIN'... Scroll on, because here are the players on the night.

Accompanied by, art installations and performances by Lexi Land & Matt Format; DJ Suzie Q; Musician/Guitarist, Simon Rosa; Choreographer, Matthew Gode with Dancers, Erica Stubbs,  Ashleigh Tavares, Shivawn Joubert.

Yes it took me weeks and weeks and well, weeks to get these pictures edited to the point I was happy with; and from such a HUGE selection. It was such a great night and so visually interesting. Hope you enjoy, go buy the book!
