Wandering around with a coffee is a pretty good morning. As a bonafide snob, I like to try single origin coffees and compare- so far I haven't found one I didn't like, didn't love, yes, but that's different.
If heading out with my man, I naturally dress for comfort- since I am just hanging out, not heading to a fashion show, which means that on a number of occasions I end up with pretty simple outfits to share, such as this one. A classic pair of black jeans, a grey marle tee and a pair of leopard heels is a comfortable look with that stylish twist. I once noticed that all of my shoes were all black, white or leopard. Yep, leopard is a classic, when done right. Personally I favour larger prints over small and I enjoy this faux pony hair textile. (This leads to casual shoe stroking under the table, whatever).

As usual, my lack of predetermined hairstyle for any given day leads to my playing with and changing it, oh, all the time. It is not uncommon for people to comment that "Jenelle, you've changed your hair three times tonight!" What gives? I like the undone, messy naturalness of it all. I've admired exactly that on French women and in reality I am not hugely skilled at styling it into fancy coifs, braids or the like.
I'll leave that to the enthusiasts and professionals. After all, I am just wandering around being a coffee snob, right?

The Student Runway is always a highlight of the Perth Fashion Festival calendar.
The show last night was so impressive, I have broken it up into two posts, the first features looks from the Ready To Wear and Evening Wear collections.
Melanie Nicholls, a WAAPA student, took out the RTW Women's prize for the black and cobalt neoprene dress, as seen in the first image. This Dion Lee inspired dress was one of the most interesting I have seen this PFF. The menswear looks were really strong, without leaning too far into the areas of overly camp, flamboyant or dull. The grey wool cape is particularly beautiful, as an androgynous piece.

Part two will be up in the coming days, along with a few other runway posts. Rather than flood the blog with these all at once, tomorrow will mark the beginning of an exciting project we have developed in conjunction with Hatch Boutique, showcasing Perth designers, and our street style takes on them.
More on that tomorrow.

Santa's Gimp and the Amazing World (that was) Rock Photography, with Tony Mott.

Photography (that was), what a strange little blog title especially since Mr Tony Mott is still a photographer. Why the "that was"? Well because, digital photography, of course! In the lead up to this event on the 22nd of November 2015 I was reading how Tony took a year off to help look after his newborn twins; and when he took this photography sabbatical he had 182 rock mag clients on file that he sold pictures to. A year later there were just 22, and now only 3 of the original 182 left! Now of course people are as passionate about music as ever, and as passionate about rock photography as ever.. But it's all gone online, it's getting shot-and-shared by amateurs for free; and let me tell you; it's hard to make a living working for free, Q.E.D. this blog.Santa's Gimp? But great Rock 'n' Roll photographer that Tony is, he was not going to launch his A-Z of Rock Photography book on a low note, hell no; it was going to be rock-and-roll all the way with way more than just a nod in the direction of "your momma won't like it" :-) hell no - HELL NO! I ask you, what's wrong with kids today? All signing up for frequent flyer points and all that consumer loyalty shit and a free cup of coffee - You know REBELLION - is still the only cool gig in town - stop nerding, lets get back to ROCKIN'... Scroll on, because here are the players on the night.
