How to Wear Rose Quartz: One of Pantone’s Colour of the Year

Rose Quartz is a pink that looks to be a mix of peach and blush.  Over the years I’ve had a love-hate relationship with pink.  I considered pink too Barbie and removed the colour from my wardrobe. Over the past year, I’ve realized I’ve been wearing more and more pink, and right now I’m having a moment with rose quartz.

If you’re wanting to get inspiration on how to wear these colours, I’ve put together some tips on how this hue can look good on you. This post will focus on rose quartz. You can see how to wear serenity here.

It wasn’t until recently that pale pink or Rose Quartz took the forefront of fashion and invaded retailers everywhere. This soft, sweet and sophisticated colour can be found in all forms of fashion from blazers to rain boots and everything in-between. Not to mention, this feminine colour is one that you can wear in any setting.

The best colours to team your rose quartz pieces is with whites, greys, pale blues and charcoals. Look for sleek lines and simple silhouettes. Also try Pair rose quartz with flattering colours that look good on you.  Rose quartz may not be everyone’s colour but it works well with a lot of other shades.

If you find wearing a dress or rose quartz top washes your complexion out, add a bold coloured necklace to add colour and contrast. Rose gold and copper accessories will contrast beautifully with rose quartz. Even pearls will add a romantic and feminine feel to the colour.

Choose rose quartz accessories.  Rose quartz is gorgeous in accessories, like in handbags, jewellery, shoes, belts and other leather goods.  Instead of buying rose quartz clothing, look to adding it in your accent pieces.

If you’re looking to glam it up, add metallic and other shiny material! Both colours go great with a pop of silver or gold.

HOW TO WEAR FRINGE THIS SPRING / SUMMER

I’m so glad fringe is trendy right now — it’s so pretty, and can add so much style to an outfit. It has proven to be particularly popular on the runways and the streets and it appears to be enjoying a bit of a come back in 2015.  There is fringing in all shapes and forms from the classic boho inspired leather and suede jackets to the flapper-inspired dresses complete with fringe hems. You can find fringes on maxi skirts to dresses, to accessories, tops and even shoes.  This trend can actually be tricky to pull off, and there is a fine-line between looking stylish and costumey, and too thick can look a bit too western.

If you aren't so big on this trend, you can start small.   Accessories are a more conservative way to wear this trend, without sacrificing your level of comfort.  e.g a fringed handbag (it is the easiest of them all, you can carry a fringe bag all day long.  Rock it with a casual dress or add a casual spin to a more formal outfit), or fringed pair of shoes or sandals or by pairing your fringe piece with anything modern or minimalist.   It is an incredible way to add a little texture and spunk to your look.

A biker jacket which features a line of fringe under the arms or across the back is a simple way to work this trend that is still so wearable.  A fringe skirt is another simple way to give this look a go, and it become easier to wear when teamed with a classic shirt and simple accessories - let the skirt be the focal point of the ensemble.  This season there are so many fringe options on offer that you're bound to find a fringe style to suit your personal style and will go well with other items in your wardrobe.

What I love most about fringe is that you can be a little minimal or pile it on. To help inspire you, here’s a roundup of the trendiest fringe on the web, to get you wearing them it with confidence.

HEAVY WEATHER - About ART Last Night at China Heights..

Heavy and heavenly weather it would seem with Sydney throwing out the dubious cold and bringing back spring warmth and sunshine which no doubt put one in a fine frame of mind when looking at the beautiful and colourful cloudscapes of Brooklyn Whelan. Also great to see the colours co-ordinate across these artists work and seeing the (new for me) folded-reflective works of Dion Horstmans; the forms of the open work sculptures working very well with these flat formed pieces. And of course a fabulous and styling art crowd, if it's art on a Friday night, it must be China Heights! Web links below, mouse over for details.
