Spring Fashion Trend: Bright and Bold Stripes

RAINBOW STRIPES

Although stripes have been a fashion staple season after season, the Spring/ Summer 2016 trend takes stripes on a wild new journey- and not necessarily in straight lines or equal widths, and when it comes to colours... the more the merrier!

Stripes are one of the most wearable and universally loved patterns around and this season the classic go-to style got a colour update.  Classic stripes get an update this season in a spectrum of colours. Whether you reach for a statement coat or stock up on knit tanks to pair with your favourite denim, brighten up your wardrobe with wide and bold stripes this season.

Don't stop at prints! Stripes were created with stitching, lace, ruffles, beading, raffia and faux fur for spirited yet sophisticated clothing.  Multi-coloured stripe style lessons, courtesy of Gucci, Chanel, Giorgio Armani, MSGM, and Salvatore Ferrragamo.

High contrast – make your rainbow stripes pop by having them against a really dark colour like navy or black. This high contrast will make for an interesting look that you can wear any time of the year, be it in the warmer days of spring and summer or during the colder months of fall and winter.

Another really great way to wear the rainbow stripes trend is to wear it bright and bold. With so many colours to see in a rainbow striped ensemble, it’s easy to make a statement and if that’s what you’re going for, make sure to wear your stripes in bright, bold and vibrant hues.

If you are a little bit intimidated by the rainbow stripes trend and you’re afraid of ending up with an outfit that has too much going on, you can always simply pair up your rainbow striped piece with white. This makes for a clean look that’s super chic and sophisticated.  Or if you’re feeling a little adventurous and you want to take some fashion risks, you can also try going all out and wearing your rainbow stripes from head to toe. This is rather tricky to pull off but with the right pieces and with the right balance of colours throughout your look, you can do it.

If you really don’t feel like you can pull off rainbow stripes start small by wearing it as a subtle accent or a pop of colour, if you may, to add a lively vibe to your outfit.

Another way to wear rainbow stripes with a more toned down vibe is to wear it mixed up with classic black and white stripes for a fun look that’s neither too plain nor too bold.

NICK VERREOS FIDM.....Nick Verreos Special Appearance at FIDM San Francisco 3 Days of Fashion 2016: BLOG RECAP!

San Francisco 3 Days of Fashion Fun: Nick Verreos "Special Appearance" at FIDM San Francisco 3 Days of Fashion 2016

Rounding out my "Special Guest" appearances these past two weeks for the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM's fabulous "3 Days of Fashion" Summer Program, the FIDM San Francisco campus was the last stop--and a SUPER WONDERFUL one to boot! Previously, I had the honor of making special visits at the FIDM San Diego, FIDM Los Angeles and FIDM Orange County campuses and so San Francisco was the last one to get to.

Many of you may know that I spent my teenage years in the Bay Area, after my family moved to San Bruno and subsequently, nearby Millbrae. To make a long story short, I always have a special affinity for San Francisco since, well, I kinda grew up there (or at least nearby!). So...back to my visit to FIDM San Francisco...

Uh OH!--I was flying out of LAX to SFO via Virgin America. My flight was scheduled to depart at around 10 am. We boarded but 15 minutes later, we were all deplaned. Yep, we were asked to leave the aircraft! Then, it was announced our gate was changed and then, our departure time was changed from that 10 am time to...2:30 PM. It would have been fine but, that was EXACTLY the time I was supposed to be at the FIDM San Francisco campus--with my NIKOLAKI and NV Nick Verreos dresses--ready to speak to about 100 students! So, needless to say, this was NOT AN OPTION. Luckily the airline found a space for me--and my gowns--on the 11am flight and...

I Made It!--Nick Verreos in Union Square San Francisco

So, thank goodness, I made it to FIDM San Francisco just in time and everything worked out FABULOUSLY! Here are all the photos to prove it:

MBFWA to-VIVID-to Great Art 'n' Shsstyle IN-between!!

Although I often don't show them in pictures; mostly; well lots of my friends are creatives. Hello! Artists, Designers, Art LOVERS! (probably a few bullshit artists..) Scribes of one sort of another, Musicians!  Of course; Lovers not Haters. PR's, well that's a tricky one..  And I almost never show them in a blog post even if they are at an event. Strange or not, it's almost like if you are a friend of mine, I will edit you out of the story of the night (or day) in some sort of attempt at journalistic impartiality.. no that can't be it I'm a blogger! Anyway this week it's an all-in, everyone, who, whom, whomever.. and looking fresher too I think. Here's the Art. Here's the Street Fashion - Gallery Style - check the links below, stuff is on now, check it out! Fashion to Photography to Painting to Light and plenty of Street Fashion as well on the way. Oh and forget yellows (sort0f), it's RED Black & Blue!
