Ever since the skinny jeans debate, there seems to be underlying online animosity between millennials and Gen Z. For the most part, the divide is trivial—many of the millennial-loved trends of the ‘90s have been reborn for the TikTok generation and practically everyone is wearing ballet flats again. The younger group managed to make millennial moments a trendier, cooler part of their identity—and for the record, I fall directly between the two age groups and take no sides. However, while Gen Z may be able to add their stamp of approval to a trend, they aren’t necessarily the ones behind the trend’s creation, and the fashion trends for 2024 presented during Fashion Month prove it.
As I watched the Spring/Summer ‘24 collections make their way down the runway, I couldn’t help but swoon over a particular soft shade of pink sprinkled throughout the designer’s shows. Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera, and Sandy Liang presented pink mini dresses, pink gowns, and pink bow bags (all of which I quickly declared my favorite pieces). It dawned on me that the reason I loved them so much was because the pieces weren’t just any shade of pink, they were Millennial Pink. The shade that defined my entire existence from 2014-2017 suddenly doesn’t seem so “cheugy” anymore. The millennials are getting their power back.
Could a color revival really tip the power scales? Probably not—but if you add a few snippets of commentary from New York Fashion Week, you might get somewhere.
During New York Fashion Week a controversial fashion show for Shao Yang was held on the rooftop of Anna Delvey’s apartment and was co-hosted by Delvey herself—a convenient location considering she’s a convicted felon and still under house arrest. What’s more millennial than a girl-boss-turned-scammer trope?
Delvey was joined on the rooftop by famed publicist Kelly Cutrone who helped put on the event. Cutrone was asked what she would consider “in” and “out” this fashion week in a viral TikTok video (ironic, considering her response).
“One thing that’s in is the motherf*cking truth. One thing that’s out is influencers,” Cutrone responded.
Cutrone is known to have strong opinions and quite a bit of influence herself. If influencers are “out”, that’s another strike against Gen Z.
The nail in the coffin on Gen Z’s trend domination? I’ll give you a second to guess—side parts. When I went backstage before the STAUD debut runway show at The Plaza Hotel, I was surprised to see model after model with a strong side part.
“Completely,” Campora replied as he brushed his hands through a model’s long side-parted hair. “A side part, a middle part, or wearing your hair back is a question of changing [your hair] to match your look. A side part is beautiful and opens up the neck.”
As I watched the models saunter down the runway with their side parts and chic long blue STAUD skirts, I felt myself self-consciously adjusting my middle part. Whether you’re a millennial, Gen Z, somewhere in-between (like me), or don’t even fall into one of the categories, you’ll want to get an early read on the biggest fashion trends for 2024.

Lots of $100,000+ costing gowns to discuss. Oh, and on a side note: Why actresses don't look THIS COUTURE FABULOUS at the Academy Awards is beyond me and very, very frustrating but oh well. Let's begin with one of the Red Carpet Divas of the Cannes 2017 Festival--Thai-British (and slightly pregnant) actress Araya "Chompoo" A. Hargate. I must admit that I had no idea who she was until this year's Cannes Film Festival--even with her (as of writing this post) 7.2 MILLION Instagram followers! But now, darlings...she is my new favorite STYLE MUSE...
Queen Araya:Araya A. Hargate at "The Meyerowitz Stories" Cannes 2017 Premiere--Araya wore this entrance-making gown from French designer Alexis Mabille Couture Fall 2014. This style may be from a 3-year-old collection, however, it is still SO NOW, and SO RED CARPET FAB! The strapless design featured an off-white column gown with a gorgeous lipstick red "puffy" overcape attached in the bust line with volants and Empire-waisted bustier. All that stitching you see on the overcape was done BY HAND. It's Haute Couture after all. Araya sure knows how to make an entrance! Definitely, one of my Best Dressed of Days 4-6 Cannes 2017 Film Festival.
Fuchsia Araya: Leave it to Ms. Hargate to not just have one--but TWO--of my Best Dresses from Days 4-6 Cannes Film Festival 2017. This is another fabulous gown that she wore, this time to the Premiere of "120 Beats Per Minute" (120 Battements Par Minute). This UBER Princess gown is from Zuhair Murad Spring/Summer 2017 Haute Couture. The gown was EVERYTHING! Araya has learned that if there was ever a moment to wear SUPER HUGE ballgowns...it's Cannes! (Maybe Aishwarya Rai Bachchan taught her this!).
The strapless gown featured an asymmetrically placed front bodice bow and multi layered silk tulle ballgown skirt all sewn by hand. How anyone sits in one of those small velvet movie theater chairs in this $100,000+ costing Couture gown is beyond me. But, she looked beautiful and Red Carpet perfect--at least for Cannes.
Sonam Kapoor in Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017 to "The Killing of a Scared Deer" Cannes 2017 Premiere: Bollywood super-actress and L'Oreal Paris Ambassador (naturally!) wore this golden gown from Elie Saab Haute Couture. The gown featured gold and crystal hand-cut lace applique over nude tulle column gown with overskirt with a plunging sweetheart neckline. She looked DIVINE. The gown was the finale "Wedding Gown" look of his most recent Haute Couture collection shown in Paris in January of this year. The gown--as seen on the runway--was a tad bit more "revealing". For Sonam, there were more golden appliques added to cover her up and the sequin work was changed so it didn't look so much like palm trees in a Dubai dessert oasis.
Sonam Kapoor in Custom Elie Saab Couture to "The Meyerowitz Stories" Cannes 2017 Premiere: Yes kids, Sonam Kapoor is now TWICE on my Best Dressed of Days 4-6 of Cannes 2017 List. In other words, this Bollywood Diva is SLAYING it! I loved this pink sequined-and-organza-crinoline gown from Elie Saab Haute Couture. The gown had a gorgeous column base dress with a soft silk georgette overskirt. It was belted and she accessorized it with...
FABULOUS jewels including those incredible finger-to-wrist bracelets. Oh, and by the way, did I mention that her gown was CUSTOM?. So, yeah, not just Haute Couture but really, really, really...made JUST FOR HER. For free! (This would be beyond the $100,000 price tag). Kapoor has 10 MILLION Instagram followers so I am guessing the Elie Saab P.R. crew is hoping some of those followers might buy an Elie Saab perfume or pair of sunglasses the next time they're in at Duty Free or a high-end department store! Irregardless, Thank You Sonam for being Two-For-Two in the Fab Cannes Red Carpet Moments!
Andie MacDowell in Roberto Cavalli at "The Meyerowitz Stories" Cannes 2017 Premiere: Model/Actress Andie MacDowell looked gorgeous at Cannes in this black and violet gown from Italian fashion brand Roberto Cavalli. The gown was elegant, chic, and sexy! And MacDowell looked AMAZING in it. I loved the shape, the dramatic bow, the draped bodice and side front slit. Andie is almost 60 years old (You GO GIRL!) and seriously, she could teach some of the 20-year-old's a lesson in red carpet fabulousness!
Aishwarya Rai in Ralph & Russo Spring/Summer 2017 Couture at the "120 Beats Per Minute" Cannes 2017 Premiere: Oh yes...everyone bow down to Queen Aishwarya. I love that she basically has showed up to this year's Cannes Film Festival to show everyone in the world why she was crowned Miss World many, many years ago. This gorgeous actress/model/Bollywood Diva has still got it (not that anyone thought she lost it!). I loved this strapless red ballgown (Aishwarya loves a ballgown!) from Ralph & Russo S/S 2017 Couture collection.
The original style--as seen on the catwalk--featured a less-structured bustier (mainly because it was for the super teeny 32" bust measuring model!), and for Rai Bachchan, the bustier was constructed with a little more, shall we say, support. I thought Aishwarya looked like a Red Carpet Goddess...in Red! One of these days, she just needs to bring out that "Miss World" crown and just wear it on the red carpet. It would make A LOT of gays very, very happy! (i.e.: Me!).
Eva Longoria Marchesa Pre-Fall 2017 at "The Killing of a Scared Deer" Cannes 2017 Premiere: Miss Eva gave you some Cannes Red Carpet Realness in this blush colored sequined-and-applique tulle gown from Marchesa Pre-Fall 2017. This is such a beautiful gown, a beautiful 30's-like silhouette, but updated with the nude/blush coloring. I especially loved the capelet detail of the gown and her styling was perfection. Muy bella Eva!
Lana El Sahely in Ralph & Russo Couture Fall/Winter 2016 at "The Killing of a Scared Deer" Cannes 2017 Premiere: Freelance stylist and founder of LArmoireDeLana Blog,Lana El Sahely wound up wearing one of my Top Ten Best Dresses from Cannes 2017 Days 4-6. I have no idea who she is but she was important enough to get a free Ralph & Russo Couture gown--at least for a night. And it looked gorgeous! The style featured white silk crepe gown with pale blue silk organza overskirt hand appliqued with ruffles and embellished with China blue silk thread-work, crystals and glass bead embroidery.
Barbara Meier in Alexis Mabille Spring 2017 Couture at "The Meyerowitz Stories" Cannes 2017 Premiere: German fashion model and actress--best known as the winner of the 2nd cycle of Germany's Next Top Model--wore one of my Top Ten Best Dresses of Cannes 2017 Days 4-6. This royal blue gown was from French designer Alexis Mabille. His Couture creations have been getting some exposure at Cannes which is great; I ADORE his designs. This dress featured an off-the-shoulder style with sequined godets highlighting the neckline with a beautiful simple belted column gown. I also loved her center parted chignon hairstyle.

Naomi Campbell in Atelier Versace Spring 2017 at the Cannes Fashion For Relief Fundraiser Gala: Leave it to Miss Naomi Campbell to make it onto my Top Ten Best Dressed of Cannes 2017 Days 4-6. She wore this super sexy Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2017 gown at the "Cannes Fashion For Relief" fundraiser event. The blush colored silk georgette dress featured an intricate Swarovski crystal encrusted web over the base of the gown, as well as side front slit to show off Campbell's iconic legs. This was a perfect choice for Naomi and she, naturally, wore it fabulously.

Why does the famous Lady Gaga let a fashion designer to control her?
Because she need the magazine covers, and the well-paying campaign contracts that Marc Jacobs gives her.

So how does Jacobs control the entire fashion industry?
First, he buys the people. He gets them good jobs. For example for Inez and Vinoodh photographer duo. He got them Louis Vuitton campaign contracts many times and now he got them a very big job: The latest video clip of Lady Gaga. He tells them what he wants in the clip and they realize Jacobs` fantasy in the video clip.

The official music video for Lady Gaga’s new track “Applause” has released. They first presented the song last week, followed by a sexy topless spread that the singer had in the latest issue of V Magazine. Photographer duo Inez & Vinoodh produced both the V Magazine spread and now also directed the new music video for the single. Inez and Vinoodh used to make all the Louis Vuitton campaigns, they are great friends of Jacobs. MJ recently gave them the Miu Miu and Nina Ricci campaigns instead of the LV (Steven Meisel shoots the LV campaigns since 2008)... Plus, they `discovered` the first of Marc`s Hungarian model,s Eniko Mihalik in 2008. They booked her for an exclusive 6 months contract.
There is another editorial that belongs to Marc Jacobs in the same issue of V magazine. Australian model Miranda Kerr embodied the HUNGARIAN adult film actress Cicciolina. How interesting is that the model is wearing Louis Vuitton and Givenchy dresses. ( I am Hungarian too)

The Art of Travel Louis Vuitton campaign was shot by Inez and Vinoodh fronted by Marc Jacobs` favorite American model Arizona Muse, who was discovered by him, she first walked the Marc Jacobs and Prada shows.
The story of the campaign: Admiring the Mona Lisa, she realizes a man is following her. After finding she is the only one to have the key to a mysterious trunk where a letter is hidden, she accepts Vuitton’s invitation to a journey, disappearing in a hot air balloon above Paris.
Here is another example... Arizona featured in the Louis Vuitton Cruise Catalog, where Jacobs copied many of my personal pictures. Jacobs follows me everywhere. He hired people to take photos of me on the street. Then he copied the moments of my life for his Cruise Catalog.
The story of the Catalog is quite similar to the Art of Travel campaign`s story: The girl walks on the streets of Paris and a mysterious man is following her everywhere.
Not long after I made pictures at Place Vendome for my Angel Barta Lookbook wearing my own designs, Marc Jacobs copied my pictures with the SAME photographers and the same model from the Louis Vuitton campaign. Jacobs asked them to make a `smiling at Place Vendome` editorial for Vogue Paris. The model had show a big happy smile on EACH pictures just like I did in my lookbook a few months earlier during the haute couture fashion week.

How can a fashion designer control the world famous celebrities?
Well, in Jacobs' case easily. Do you know why Madonna sings and dances they Jacobs wants her to? Why did Madonna sing a song with Jacobs' favorite singer M.I.A ( who featured in the Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign in 2008)?
Because Jacobs gave her the Louis Vuitton 1 year long contract in 2009. Madonna got $10 million for the campaign. Since then Madonna is grateful for Jacobs.
Marc Jacobs got inked the word " Shameless" on his chest... Even he admits and knows how cruel and shameless he is!

For example in 2011, Terry followed Gaga on her “Monster Ball” tour taking behind the scenes pics, 350 of which made it into his book Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson. Post reports that Richardson made $58 million on his photos between June 2012 and June 2013. The latest job Jacobs got Terry is the new video clip of Miley Cyrus, the Wrecking Ball was directed by Terry Richardson.

In 2012 summer polka dots were the must have trends of the summer. 2 months later Jacobs designed a collection full of stripped outfits... each single outfit was stripped! This was not the only time when MJ wrote a song for a singer. Here is another example.

Of course Jonas could not say no to Marc when he asked him to sing this song about my love with Marc. Watch the video, it was recorded in Paris, you will see at 2:15, that the girl in the clip is called Angel, like me and at 0:50 the boy writes " Angel" with red lipstick.

Marc Jacobs got a Louis Vuitton contract for Kanye a few years ago. Kanye launched a sneakers collection with Louis Vuitton. Kanye's been grateful for Jacobs since then. Jacobs controls Kanye in many ways. It was Marc's idea for Kim Kardashian to wear that Givenchy dress. He wanted to make fun of the pregnant woman at the Met Ball.( Last year everyone was making fun of Jacobs in the lace see-through shirt dress that he was wearing at the Met Ball. ) He even made Kanye steal an old Hungarian song.

And now the question is: Who was the offending designer? Fashionista is assuming it was someone who showed during Paris fashion week (West also mentions a French restaurant in “I Am a God). That's right, someone from Paris. That unnamed designer is definitely Marc Jacobs. Kanye used to attend his fashion shows each season. He has not attented any LV Womenswear show for 2 years, he only attends the Mens LV show.In 2011 Kanye wasn't invited to the Louis Vuitton show, details nymag. I suppose they could not agree on MJ's conditions. By the way this exclusive condition is not new to Jacobs. He usually has some models walk his show with "exclusive condition". So the model can walk ONLY his fashion show (for free), no other fashion shows. The Marc Jacobs runway models are paid in trade ( they can chose a piece of clothing). Have you heard that Kanye West recently stole a more than 40 years old Hungarian song?
Kóbor János the singer of Omega claimed he will sue Kanye for sampling Gyönyhajú Lány(The organs from New Slaves) and not crediting them.He already hired an international lawyer to start the confrontation. They can't sue Kanyeyet because it was only played on walls and on SNL and it's not official. But if it mades the Album he promised he will step in the ring. It's funny because the 66 buildings experience was filmed on the singer's 70th birthday.
Many people have identified the sample at use towards the end of the new track that KanyeWest premiered on (almost) 66 buildings andSaturday Night Live this past weekend.
The music? A Hungarian band called Omega, who released ”Gyöngyhajú Lány” (translated as The Girl with Pearly Hair) in 1969.

They met in Paris and he talked her into wearing it! By the way he designed that dress for the french brand Comme des Garcons. ( He often wears Comme de Garcons outfits, for example the pink " nightgown" he was wearing at the Louis Vuitton exhibition opening Event. )

Anna Dello Russo
It seems that Anna Dello Russo ( editor of Vogue Japan) really liked my coat with the big ribbon. After we met she copied me. The brand of her dress is Nina Ricci! What a coincidence! That dress never was on the catwalk, you could see it only on Anna dello Russo.
Marc Jacobs designed that dress with the help of Katie Grand and Peter Copping.
Peter Copping used to be the right hand of Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton for more then 10 years. In 2009 Marc got him the creative director job at Nina Ricci. This way Marc can control the design team at Nina Ricci too. Peter designs what his supporter wants him to. Marc puts his ex colleagues at most of the fashion brands... he wants to control the whole fashion industry.
This is how Marc can copy my ideas for Nina Ricci. The Hungarian models usually walk the NR catwalk.
First Marc copies my designs then spreads it in the whole world... and it becomes a trend.
Guess, I don't need to explain why you see Cara Delenvigne everywhere lately. Delevingne’s rise to modeling stardom can be tracked back to Marc Jacobs and Katie Grand, who frequently puts Delevingne in (and even on the cover of) her magazine,Love. By the way Kate Moss ( the other woman who is so passionately french kissing Jacobs) is on the cover of the same issue of LOVE Magazine. It was Jacobs' idea to launch the Love Magazine and he put Katie Grand as editor in chief.The models featured in the magazine have to realise all his perverse fantasies in the editorials.
Marc Jacobs`s team: Miley Cyrus, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Rita Ora, Karen Elson, Derek Blasberg. Marc made successful EACH of them.
Jacobs booked Delevingne for his mainline and Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2013 catwalk shows, and picked her to appear nude on his 'Protect The Skin You're In' T-shirts to raise money for skin cancer research... she also starred in Jacobs's perverse short Louis Vuitton video. Marc loves Cara a lot, now he just wants Katie Grand to take responsibility for her instant success, so Jacobs can stay in the background.

I was wearing my vintage style Angel Barta high-waisted bikinis on the beach in 2011 and 2012 summer and posted the photos later on facebook... in 2012 summer Taylor Swift was wearing the exact copy of my bikinis with Marc Jacobs shorts ( her bikinis had no brand, it was only made for this occasion) ... Marc can control what the celebrities wear through his close friend, Rachel Zoe, stylist from Hollywood, she dresses Taylor.
