6 Most Jaw-Dropping Trends of The Season Seen at Fashion Preview Spring 2017

Fun, feminine, flirty, if it's one (or all!) of those things next Spring, it's in!

The message was pretty clear during last week's Fashion Preview presentations in Montreal as designers enlined on one same vision, not without a few diversions. And with so many new collections available every season, it is easy to get confused with what to wear for the months to come, even though this season, a handful of brands (koff, koff.. hey Lovan M., Tommy Hilfiger and Alexander Wang) cleverly look at fashion from a different eye, offering their take on the see-now, buy-now model and presented clothes immediately for sale, straight from the runway. But hey, don't panic here, we got your back as always ;)

From major ruffles to hourglass figures, here is PBTH's edit of the best trends spotted on the runways last week. Scroll down to see all the trends that reigned on the recent runways...

Ampler, slouchier and more extravagant than ever, the new trench coat is all about nailing that effortless I-just-threw-this-on vibe without undermining the sofistication of midi-lenght coats. New, extended silhouettes will make your old beige trench look like it's in need of some definite vacations to regain healthy colours, which is exactly what you'll give it: time off!

Great minds think alike they say, and great designers will always share a like for some collection staples such as lust-worthy pinks and other feminine hues. For Spring 2017, it will not be your average pink-pink... We're talking delicate shades of rose that are easy to pair with other spring-y colours and that will enhance and soften any look you may be going for.

Live fast, die young, bad girls do it well! Far from us the idea that you should die at a young age or that adopting a fast-paced lifestyle is the optimal way to live your life as a young adult(!), but there is just something about this DGAF attitude that has been seen on the runways lately. If you ask us, this might be your one-way ticket straight to the cool kid's table this year, whether you choose to feature a good rip, hide under you hoodie, sport a total black outfit or rock dark shades at all time of the day.

Ruffles aren't just for flirty dresses anymore... Next Spring, we're wearing them on everything, as they'll transpose on your favourite jackets, tops, sleeves and even on your workout gear! Turn everyday wear into special-occasion pieces with an asymmetrical ruffle, a floucy finish or a more structured emblishement, and make your wardrobe more versatile than ever.

Are you surprised to see that waist trainer of yours you've been trying to keep a secret forever make its fashion debut on the runways? So did we! With hourglass figures gaining more and more popularity amongst fashionistas of all ages, you can now turn to your closet to give you those extra curves you are coveting or simple to cinch your waist a notch more for added drama (or just for a little extra help!) ;)

From the designers creating pieces for the girl that's out-and-about, to those who rules the athleisure game, it seems like everyone had a taste for taupes and earthy colours this season. Even the bombshell has now embraced practicality! Never thought you’d head to the gym, go out to eat at a fancy restaurant, walk through the office or meet your in-laws in a full-on khaki ensemble? Prepare to be amazed.

And this Fall, they've done it again, rounding up amongst their newly revamped St-Catherine's store, the 10 trends you should absolutely add to your end-of-2016 wardrobe. Click through to shop my best picks from H&M Fall 2016 and H&M Studio collections...

1. PUFFER JACKETS

Before you know it, the Autumn chill will settle in, and you'll have no other option but to bundle up. Why not do it in style? Whether you're going for a hike in the mountain or just a quick walk in your neighborhood, puffer jackets will keep you cozy through the falling of the leaves. This ubiquitous outerwear is known for being big on warmth and now, thanks to H&M's update on our colder months classic, it has become BIG IN STYLE!

2. RUFFLES

This Fall, experience the rise of the “new feminine” side of fashion and welcome back the ruffles. This season’s fresh take on ruffles can be as subtle as a chic embroidered tier on a blouse or a shirt, or as festive a relaxed set of bell-shaped sleeves. The new feminine is pretty without being precious. It's flirty yet, sweet. And you'll love how these modern feminine pieces will make your best Fall looks flourish.

3. COLD SHOULDERS

Interpreting the runways' sexiest look so far, please say hello to the fashionable update on this Summer's cold-shoulder trend. Great news for the ladies who love their universally flattering design, shoulder cut-outs are taking over the Fall season with their cool, flirty and timeless factor. Pair it with a strapless bra and let those shoulders pop!

4. MOCK NECKS

The challenge of finding a good mockneck sweater is not an easy one. But after perusing the 90s nostalgic collection at H&M, I am conviced it is one of the most popular silhouettes of the season. More utilitarian than stylish in nature, this cold-weather must have is still one of the most versatile pieces worth investing in this Fall; not quite a crewneck and not a full-grown turtleneck, but it's the perfect transitional piece.

5. SHEARLING JACKETS

As soon as I saw the looks on the Fashion Week runways back in February, I knew shearling would be a huge trend once the cold weather hit. Contrasted with leather, suede, denim, or even military twill, the fur-like lining of shearling jackets will keep you toasty while the stylish finish is ideal for topping off any outfit. It's fresh and oh-so seasonal!

6. BOHEMIAN DRESS

In true boho girl vibes, slip into this season's most swanky version of the 70s spin-off. Breezy full-lenght dresses in floral prints, graphic patterns and tea length hemlines are everywhere this Fall so you can embrace the style that's back in a big way with nothing but a simple one-item swap. Sound easy enough? Give your wardrobe that groovy vibe you've been looking for…

7. CHOKER NECKLACE

If you have been living under a rock and didn't get the memo yet, the choker is back and it's gaining popularity by the nanosecond! Delicate and different, there's a good reason your favorite '90s staple has somehow gotten huge again and this Fall, H&M is bringing the recent neck-ccessorize craze to a whole new lever with edgy leather alternatives and charming unicorn pendants. Are you wearing one already?

8. PLAID

Although for me, days of the high-school tartan mini are long gone, plaid print remains a wardrobe staple of mine. Thing is, plaid is a print with a long history, from its start in the Scottish Highlands to its preppy rise during the 1990s. So, in the hopes of escaping the stereotypical prep-school style, I'm always on the prowl for a more updated way to wear this little classic. And apparently, so is H&M

9. BOMBER JACKETS

Looking for the perfect cover up this Fall? I don't know about you but so often I get wrapped up in finding the perfect Winter outerwear, I forget all about Fall. But breezy nights and the nippy morning chill can really get you so you'll need an option for this season too... You'll need a bomber! The lightweight spinoff of a varsity coat is trending so hard, H&M even got its own category dedicated to the style. When practicality and style meet in one single piece, everything seems right with the world ;)

10. NECKERCHIEFS

Last but not least, all hail to our beloved choker necklace's big brother, the neckerchief. Spotted around the necks of our favourite street style stars, this simple piece can put a fresh spin on any outfit. Sounds a little Western, I know, but a bandana tied around your neck is the perfect compromise between cute but not over-the-top and can add an extra inch of warmth to your Fall aesthetic.

MY KISS STORY | PARTY KISS

Happy happy Sunday everyone !

Hope you guys are having a fantastic time, soaking in the last few bits of the weekend. I, myself, am taking advantage of the mild weather here in Vancouver to run some last-minute errands before my departure to Montreal. Excited to be back in my beautiful, beloved city, although I am quite sad to leave Vancouver behind me. This Summer has been everything I could have dream of !

I did wanted to take a break from packing and running around town to check-in with you and follow up with my coverage of last February's Milan Fashion Week. Right before I left for Europe, I teamed up with Lise Watier to share with you the launch of their new (at the time!) velvet liquid lipstick called Baiser Velours and took part in their #MyKissStory social media campaign as an ambassador of the brand. #MyKissStory is the tale of a young girl driven by the unknown and hungry for adventures, discoveries and new challenges. A girl who never will be content with a simple life and who's desire to see the world is so great, that nothing could ever stop her will. I am that girl ! When I left for Paris at the age of 18, I never really looked back; I knew this was were I belonged. Away from home, that is. Paris just happened to be the first destination I traveled to by myself and ever since, I never found a better travel companion than myself ;) Ever had that feeling before ? When I'll go back, at the end of next month, I'll do exactly what I always do when in Paris; put some lipstick on, pour myself a drink and go sit right in front of the Seine to watch the river flow go by. This time, it's going to be my Lise Watier 'Baiser Velours' liquid lipstick in the shade Party Kiss...

Just like my personality, I like my lipsticks to be bold, dreamy and audacious ! My Lise Watier 'Baiser Velours' liquid lipstick tagged along as my go-to lip colour for the entire Fashion month, last season. I could never get over such a brilliant, bright pink colour, definitely an obvious and outstanding choice for a major event such as Fashion Week. My pigment-rich 'Baiser Velours' lipstick deliver the perfect coverage and intensity within a formula that is light, creamy and non-drying. The result ? A smooth, matte and extremely long wear lip that'll assure me a flawless look for hours on end !

MFW, Day 1

Transitioning between London and Milan seems to be the smoothest part of my Fashion month, every season. It's like actually catching a break from all of that Fashion Week madness, especially with London being slightly more chaotic than Milan ;) Do not get me wrong, I love the energy of LFW and there is nothing that suits more my lifestyle and personality than a busy schedule in an extra-busy city, that said, for some reason, Milan simply is more tidy, methodical. There is a reason for everything that happens in Milan; no fuss, no moss !

For my first day at MFW, I wore this snake print twinset from Sinequanone, courtesy of my friends at Wilshire Fashions in Montreal. I love me a good matching ensemble and this silky duo happened to be just what I had in mind for Milan. I find it is very reminiscent of the 1970's Italian era in all its glory. At the time, Fashion Week was held only twice a year and lasted a couple of days in the Fashion capital that was (and still is!) Milan. Paris was on its way, three short years later…

It may sound funny but what really made me fall for this dress was the camel leather halter collar; I have a thing from neutral details. Plus, I had the perfect pair of Go-go-like suede boots, rounded square oversized sunnies and camel leather handbag to complete my look. The 1970's are famous for many things when it comes to Fashion. Among them, the glamour wear and tailored style stood out strongly during the decade, with boots at the height of their popularity, becoming the accessory of the hour. Despite the widespread boho vibes, loads of girls would opt for a more elevated style inspired by 1940's movie star glamour.

The only thing missing here would be more volume in my hair. Yes, yes, big hair is a thing too ;)
