Fringed Uma: Actress Uma Thurman arriving at Sunday's Cennes 2017 Film Festival Closing Ceremony, Cannes France
This past Sunday was the Closing Ceremony for the 70th Annual Cannes Film Festival. Cannes 2017 was full of lots of film premieres and fabulous red carpet moments which I covered HERE, HERE and HERE. Now, it was time for the Grand Finale of Cannes 2017 when the Jury gave out the coveted Palme d'Or as well as other top awards, including the Grand Prix, the Best Actor and Best Actress as well as many others. And it was also time for one final Cannes Red Carpet...at least for this year. Let's take a look at Who Wore What...at Cannes 2017 Closing Ceremony:
Uma Thurman in Custom Atelier Versace: The see-through "Naked Dress" is quite popular these days on the red carpet so it was not a shocker to see one on the very fit and statuesque Uma Thurman. Uma--who was the President of the Jury for "Un Certain Regard" selection of films at Cannes 2017--was giving her best Cher/Bob Mackie-like moment (even with the straight center-parted hair!) in this shimmering gold sequined gown filled with thousands of gold sequins draped over her body on a nude based gown. The "stars" of the gown were the shimmying gold beaded fringe that really made for an impacting entrance and red carpet walk into the Cannes 2017 Closing Ceremony. I thought she looked quite spectacular. What was not spectacular were all the fallen gold beads that trailed her as she walked the red carpet...
This is a hand-sewn Atelier Versace gown, after all, so we know EVERY SINGLE ONE of those beads was sewn by hand so I am sure they were all, literally, hanging by a thread. As a designer I have been there, receiving one of my cherished sequined gowns back after a big red carpet event, and to my dismay, seeing how 1/4 of the beads ended up on the (red carpet) floor. I'm sure no one cared at Versace; it's just another day on the "Couture Carpet".
Fan Bingbing in Atelier Versace Spring 2017: Another Atelier Versace Diva was the Chinese actress, fashion muse--and Cannes 2017 Jury member--Fan Bingbing, who decided to wear one of Donatella's Haute Couture designs for the Cannes 2017 Closing Ceremony. Bingbing wore this blue-gray tulle gown from Atelier Versace Spring/Summer 2017 collection.

The gown followed in the "Naked Dress" trend with see-through details juxtaposed with Swarovski crystal-encrusted boning that was strategically hand-sewn throughout the gown, forming a mermaid-like caged silhouette at the bottom...all covered in silk tulle with fan accents. That last part was kind of fabulous: Fan Bingbing wore a gown...with FAN accents!
Jessica Chastain in Zuhair Murad Spring 2017 Couture: Cannes 2017 Jury member Jessica Chastain went 1940's Old Hollywood Glamour in this ivory silk gown from Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017. The gown featured a sweetheart neckline, sharp cap sleeves, and side pleated cascade folds. Originally, when the style was shown on the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week runway (back in January), it was in black (or more like a "midnight blue").

But for Chastain, it was customized and changed to the white color, which I do think was a wise choice, especially for the porcelain skinned/red haired actress. While the color was changed, the red sequins remained. I thought she looked beautiful (the lipstick color matched the red sequins PERFECTLY!) and I especially loved the open back of the gown and dramatic back overskirt/fall.
Diane Kruger in custom Jonathan Simkhai: Cannes 2017 Best Actress winner Diane Kruger, wore a black gown from U.S. designer Jonathan Simkhai. The gown featured a strapless-like silhouette with fitted bust cups, a fit-to-flare gown silhouette and billowy "Renaissance"-like off-the-shoulder sleeves. While it wasn't so much of a "Fashion" statement (in the likes of the Fan Bingbing's or Aiswarya Rai Bachchan's), it was on par with what "Best Actress" nominees have been doing lately at previous top awards shows...keeping it safe and not too Fashion With a Capital "F" (much to my disappointment).

In case you might be wondering who designer Jonathan Simkhai is (not a red carpet "household" designer name, although he's dressed MANY celebs), he began his design line in 2010 and in 2015, he was the winner of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. And he's known for those off-the-shoulder Boho/Peasant Gal-meets-Renaissance sleeve details. It's kind of his "thang". Or at least, it should be now!
Monica Bellucci in Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Spring 2017: The Cannes 2017 Closing Ceremony host, Italian actress Monica Bellucci wore a black gown from Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Spring/Summer 2017. The Opera-inspired collection was shown in Milan back in January and is the Haute Couture arm of the Italian fashion brand. In other words, these are Made-to-Order designs, one-of-a-kind (unless several clients order it!), and prices begin at about $50,000 per dress and go up and up and up.
Elizabethan Bellucci: Mistress of the 2017 Cannes Closing Ceremony, Monica Bellucci in cut velvet hand-made Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Spring/Summer 2017
Monica's black handsewn cut velvet-and-sequins gown--as it was originally shown on the runway--was Tea-length and featured puffy sleeves...and yes, that Elizabethan ruff collar. For Monica, it was changed--the puffy sleeves were gone, and the length was made longer by adding a black lace tulle layer with gathered tulle crinoline under-petticoat, to exaggerate the Mermaid-like shape. La Diva Bellucci always looks great in black and figure-hugging shapes. And it was an Italian "Double-Double" to have her wear Dolce & Gabbana for this prime hosting gig.
Finally, I wanted to add French actress Eva Green--even though this wasn't from the Cannes 2017 Closing Ceremony...but she looked so chic and the dress was interesting enough to mention it here:

Following on the Red Carpet Gown Trend of the "Naked Dress", the design featured the HOT HOT HOT see-through look, with an under-corselette featuring black boning, very elaborate--and exquisite--sequined applique over nude tulle work and puffy sleeves (with gathered tulle inside of it to "puff" the cap)...

I always thought styling was easy, for professionals. You'd have a sketch and image in your head ready. You might rearrange once or twice but it would be fun easy, and breezy. Wrong. Three arrangements later and the team still wasn't happy. It was stressful with constraints like time limit and lighting.

Thursday The Lone Wolf I like being alone. But then I don't go minding my own business, look around and perhaps there is something. Something strange. We are told that humans are social creatures. Almost every activity is based on being social, like food, eating out, going on picnics, going to events. Something I've noticed through life, with girls in particular is that they're always looking out for their friends, saving them spots, holding their bags and traveling in groups. There was an event I went to the other year, where it was completely BYO everything, and on my own I had a trolley and dragged a table, chair, all the deco and table setting on my own. It's hard doing things meant for a group as one person. Perhaps what I'm after is an assistant, one who loves food, has a back for styling and will save me a seat and make sure no one steals my drink/showbag. I need George. As a human. Though he's adorable too as a beagle and one of my two best friends. At the moment I want to do a picnic shoot to mark the end of summer, perhaps a round up of all the recipies we've experimented with recently. Sure I can make it all (with some help, from my baking partner), style it and shoot it but then I'll be left with all this food that won't be eaten in time... what am I suppose to do with it all? Yes I am surrounded by six housemates and yet I feel quite on my own, but not quite alone. I am surrounded by people I don't connect with. We don't share the same interests. Sure I could be surrounded by people who are just in it for the freebies/ride/things I can offer. But no, I am not my mother. Meanwhile trips to other towns mean an opp to try new places!

Friday Productivity has been very questionable lately, with being very sick (a journey to the 6th circle of hell and back) but we're steadily recovering! A morning routine: up, shower, teeth, smoothie. Seems essential. It doesn't involve going on fb or email till after lunch, if it's that important you would have called. Playing with eggs, we want to make all the eggs in one afternoon. How do you like your eggs? I love them poached (hello 2pm brunch) and soft boiled, so soft you can vacuum it off the spoon!
We went into review for one cardi, but ended up with a dress ($100) and sweater/jumper instead. Regrets? Not sure... My only iffy-ness lies with the pattern being more suitable to a tall woman like morman's mom (so much potential there). Dinner, we made zuchiini & (cumin) curry soup. It was good but a bit strong on the curry and I prefer it more liquidly. It didn't taste just like stock or cream which was great! The hardest part? Grating six zuchinnis. Saturday

Why does the famous Lady Gaga let a fashion designer to control her?
Because she need the magazine covers, and the well-paying campaign contracts that Marc Jacobs gives her.

So how does Jacobs control the entire fashion industry?
First, he buys the people. He gets them good jobs. For example for Inez and Vinoodh photographer duo. He got them Louis Vuitton campaign contracts many times and now he got them a very big job: The latest video clip of Lady Gaga. He tells them what he wants in the clip and they realize Jacobs` fantasy in the video clip.

The official music video for Lady Gaga’s new track “Applause” has released. They first presented the song last week, followed by a sexy topless spread that the singer had in the latest issue of V Magazine. Photographer duo Inez & Vinoodh produced both the V Magazine spread and now also directed the new music video for the single. Inez and Vinoodh used to make all the Louis Vuitton campaigns, they are great friends of Jacobs. MJ recently gave them the Miu Miu and Nina Ricci campaigns instead of the LV (Steven Meisel shoots the LV campaigns since 2008)... Plus, they `discovered` the first of Marc`s Hungarian model,s Eniko Mihalik in 2008. They booked her for an exclusive 6 months contract.
There is another editorial that belongs to Marc Jacobs in the same issue of V magazine. Australian model Miranda Kerr embodied the HUNGARIAN adult film actress Cicciolina. How interesting is that the model is wearing Louis Vuitton and Givenchy dresses. ( I am Hungarian too)

The Art of Travel Louis Vuitton campaign was shot by Inez and Vinoodh fronted by Marc Jacobs` favorite American model Arizona Muse, who was discovered by him, she first walked the Marc Jacobs and Prada shows.
The story of the campaign: Admiring the Mona Lisa, she realizes a man is following her. After finding she is the only one to have the key to a mysterious trunk where a letter is hidden, she accepts Vuitton’s invitation to a journey, disappearing in a hot air balloon above Paris.
Here is another example... Arizona featured in the Louis Vuitton Cruise Catalog, where Jacobs copied many of my personal pictures. Jacobs follows me everywhere. He hired people to take photos of me on the street. Then he copied the moments of my life for his Cruise Catalog.
The story of the Catalog is quite similar to the Art of Travel campaign`s story: The girl walks on the streets of Paris and a mysterious man is following her everywhere.
Not long after I made pictures at Place Vendome for my Angel Barta Lookbook wearing my own designs, Marc Jacobs copied my pictures with the SAME photographers and the same model from the Louis Vuitton campaign. Jacobs asked them to make a `smiling at Place Vendome` editorial for Vogue Paris. The model had show a big happy smile on EACH pictures just like I did in my lookbook a few months earlier during the haute couture fashion week.

How can a fashion designer control the world famous celebrities?
Well, in Jacobs' case easily. Do you know why Madonna sings and dances they Jacobs wants her to? Why did Madonna sing a song with Jacobs' favorite singer M.I.A ( who featured in the Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign in 2008)?
Because Jacobs gave her the Louis Vuitton 1 year long contract in 2009. Madonna got $10 million for the campaign. Since then Madonna is grateful for Jacobs.
Marc Jacobs got inked the word " Shameless" on his chest... Even he admits and knows how cruel and shameless he is!

For example in 2011, Terry followed Gaga on her “Monster Ball” tour taking behind the scenes pics, 350 of which made it into his book Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson. Post reports that Richardson made $58 million on his photos between June 2012 and June 2013. The latest job Jacobs got Terry is the new video clip of Miley Cyrus, the Wrecking Ball was directed by Terry Richardson.

This was not the only time when MJ wrote a song for a singer. Here is another example.

Marc Jacobs got a Louis Vuitton contract for Kanye a few years ago. Kanye launched a sneakers collection with Louis Vuitton. Kanye's been grateful for Jacobs since then. Jacobs controls Kanye in many ways. It was Marc's idea for Kim Kardashian to wear that Givenchy dress. He wanted to make fun of the pregnant woman at the Met Ball.( Last year everyone was making fun of Jacobs in the lace see-through shirt dress that he was wearing at the Met Ball. ) He even made Kanye steal an old Hungarian song.

And now the question is: Who was the offending designer? Fashionista is assuming it was someone who showed during Paris fashion week (West also mentions a French restaurant in “I Am a God). That's right, someone from Paris. That unnamed designer is definitely Marc Jacobs. Kanye used to attend his fashion shows each season. He has not attented any LV Womenswear show for 2 years, he only attends the Mens LV show.In 2011 Kanye wasn't invited to the Louis Vuitton show, details nymag. I suppose they could not agree on MJ's conditions. By the way this exclusive condition is not new to Jacobs. He usually has some models walk his show with "exclusive condition". So the model can walk ONLY his fashion show (for free), no other fashion shows. The Marc Jacobs runway models are paid in trade ( they can chose a piece of clothing). Kóbor János the singer of Omega claimed he will sue Kanye for sampling Gyönyhajú Lány(The organs from New Slaves) and not crediting them.He already hired an international lawyer to start the confrontation. They can't sue Kanyeyet because it was only played on walls and on SNL and it's not official. But if it mades the Album he promised he will step in the ring. It's funny because the 66 buildings experience was filmed on the singer's 70th birthday.
Many people have identified the sample at use towards the end of the new track that KanyeWest premiered on (almost) 66 buildings andSaturday Night Live this past weekend.

It seems that Anna Dello Russo ( editor of Vogue Japan) really liked my coat with the big ribbon. After we met she copied me. The brand of her dress is Nina Ricci! What a coincidence! That dress never was on the catwalk, you could see it only on Anna dello Russo.
Marc Jacobs designed that dress with the help of Katie Grand and Peter Copping.
Peter Copping used to be the right hand of Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton for more then 10 years. In 2009 Marc got him the creative director job at Nina Ricci. This way Marc can control the design team at Nina Ricci too. Peter designs what his supporter wants him to. Marc puts his ex colleagues at most of the fashion brands... he wants to control the whole fashion industry.
This is how Marc can copy my ideas for Nina Ricci. The Hungarian models usually walk the NR catwalk.
First Marc copies my designs then spreads it in the whole world... and it becomes a trend.
Guess, I don't need to explain why you see Cara Delenvigne everywhere lately. Delevingne’s rise to modeling stardom can be tracked back to Marc Jacobs and Katie Grand, who frequently puts Delevingne in (and even on the cover of) her magazine,Love. By the way Kate Moss ( the other woman who is so passionately french kissing Jacobs) is on the cover of the same issue of LOVE Magazine. It was Jacobs' idea to launch the Love Magazine and he put Katie Grand as editor in chief.The models featured in the magazine have to realise all his perverse fantasies in the editorials.

Jacobs booked Delevingne for his mainline and Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2013 catwalk shows, and picked her to appear nude on his 'Protect The Skin You're In' T-shirts to raise money for skin cancer research... she also starred in Jacobs's perverse short Louis Vuitton video. Marc loves Cara a lot, now he just wants Katie Grand to take responsibility for her instant success, so Jacobs can stay in the background.

Marc can control what the celebrities wear through his close friend, Rachel Zoe, stylist from Hollywood, she dresses Taylor.
