GRAMMY AWARDS 2016: is this the worst red carpet of the year?

GRAMMY AWARDS 2016: is this the worst red carpet of the year?
Yes.
I am not trying to sound mean, but that is a fact: the 58th Grammy awards wins #TEB's trophy as the most underwhelming red carpet of the year
Music on point, fashion...next.
Beyoncè skipped the red carpet, no Rihanna, no Nicki Minaj, no JLo, and I hate myself for saying this but no sign of the Kardashian/Jenners (however I would hide too after wearing those terrible creations at Yeezy season 3). All that is left is a bunch of generic (sometimes boring) outfits, except for Lady Gaga of course, I mean nothing is generinc when it comes to her.
Ready? Let's have a closer look to the Grammys red carpet:

ANGELIC VISIONS
Chrissy Teigen in Yousef Aljasmi; Beyoncè in Inbal Dror
GRAMMY AWARDS 2016 red carpet
We are borderline with the bridal territory, but we can not deny how effortless and classy these dresses look. Pregnancy is looking good on Chrissy Teigen, and fashion-wise I do love her glamorous maternity-style. As for my queen Beyoncè, I was expecting more from her: she has been wearing sheer dresses for too long, and it starting to feel boring, however I do like the tastefull design of this one.

SPLASH OF COLOR
Taylor Swift in Atelier Versace; Kacey Musgraves in Armani Privé Couture
GRAMMY AWARDS 2016 red carpet
Color-blocking looks good on ex-country star Taylor Swift, even if I have problems to call this Versace number a dress, I mean doesn't it look like a two-pieces swimsuit witha fancy sarong? Anyway this new shorter (Anna Wintour-inspired) hair-do sealed the deal, so gets my nulla-osta.
The actual country princess Kacey Musgraves choose something more elegant and nailed it: this Armani Privé Couture dress from the Fall 2015 collection looked flawless on her.

BOWIE TRIBUTES
Zendaya in Dsquared2; Lady Gaga in custom Marc Jacobs
GRAMMY AWARDS 2016 red carpet
Tributes are the highest form of respect to someone that has passed away: this year we have lost many big artists, among which the legendary David Bowie.
Lady Gaga had the honor to perform a tribute to the singer at the awards show, and given her personality and character it make sense to see her bringing her tribute also on the red carpet. If you don't stare at the shoes to much, it works, believe me.
As for Zendaya, I can not really decide whether I like the execution of the tribute or not: she took the androginus path, sporting Bowie's famous Ziggy Stardust mullet and wearing a black suit by DSquared2. This is another unexpected yet bold choice made by the young star and her stylist, that unfortunately failed to convince me. A++ for the effort.

IN CHARACTER
Janelle Monae; Florence Welch in Gucci
GRAMMY AWARDS 2016 red carpet
It's costumy, but I love it...on Janelle Monae: it's Grammys night at the end of the day, what did you expect?
Moving to Florence Welch..., well Gucci is on a roll this year: this is another A-list celebrity wearing an Alessandro Michele's design without looking like a cartoon. Good job.

DIVAS
Jazmine Sullivan in Micheal Costello; Adele in Givenchy
GRAMMY AWARDS 2016 red carpet
I could listen to their voices for days, but who wins the fashion game? Personally I love Jazmine Sullivan choice better: the RnB diva wore a feminine yet elegant piece by Michael Costello, which fits her like a glove. Adele went classy in Givenchy all night, however the ruby red piece she wore on stage totally outshined this black number on the red carpet.

(OLD) LADY LIKE
Demi Lovato in Norisol Ferrari; Megan Trainor in Micheal Costello
GRAMMY AWARDS 2016 red carpet
Take to beautiful young rising stars in their 20s...and dress them like they were 40. Pardon 35.

SEXY SEXY SEXY
Bella Hadid in Alexandre Vauthier Couture; Ciara in Alexandre Vauthier; Alessandra Ambrosio in Versace
GRAMMY AWARDS 2016 red carpet
Plunging neklines, slits, cut-outs, dark smokey eyes and lots of skin: girls you are beautiful, but I am officially bored. It is not even funny anymore. "Less is more"they say, but I do not belive they were referring to the amount of fabric...

1 SINGLE FLAW
Selena Gomez in Calvin Klein; Ariana Grande in Romona Keveza; Lianne La Havas in Vivienne Westwood
GRAMMY AWARDS 2016 red carpet
Everything was on point except for...
-Selena Gomez hair and make up. She is beautiful but she reminds me of JLo..and not in her 20s.
-Ariana Grande make up and hair: imagine a low ponytail and a softer make up. Is it better?
-Lianne La Havas shoes: too heavy for me.

WORST
Medison Bier; Wiz Kalifa in Thom Browne; Tove Lo
GRAMMY AWARDS 2016 red carpet
The ultimate cheap-looking party dress, an embellished shrunken three-piece with tails and a beautiful lace nightmare. Impressive.

Sorry, I need to heal my eyes: maybe it's better to look back at the BAFTA red carpet.

MET GALA 2016: BEST BEAUTY LOOKS

The fashion team has spoken and the best dressed guests of the 2016 MET Gala have been announced (Celebtities vs Models): I guess, it's my turn now.
Beauty lovers here I am, let's discover the top 3 beauty looks from this year's gala:
Il team moda si è espresso, annunciando così gli invitati meglio vestiti al MET Gala 2016 (Celebtities vs Models): quindi credo che ora tocchi a me.
Amanti della bellezza eccomi qui, è tempo di scoprire i 3  migliori beauty look del gala di quest'anno:

Best Makeup: Zendaya
That golden Michael Kors's gown has made her win a spot among the best dressed of the night, but can we talk about that dramatic eyes make-up?
The young fashionista wore a simple brown/golden smokey-eye: natural-looking fake lashes and a light touch of black eyeliner were added to enhance the drama-queen effect.

Best Lips Makeup: Hailee Steinfeld
I seriousily have a thing for bold lipsticks, so thank you Hailee for bringing some boldness on the red carpet.
To replicate her lips-makeup you only need a bordeaux lipstick, better if paired with a good lip gloss to add more volume.

Best Hairstyle: Nina Dobrev
Such a lovely hairstyle: Nina's beautiful hair were gentily curled up and fastened with golden hair clips, to match her Disney-like Marchesa dress.
A nice all-natural trick to get beautiful and healty hair?
A homemade hair-mask, made of avocado's pulp, half cup of yogurt and a table-spoon of honey.
Mix all the ingredients together and massage the mixture into your scalp, working from the roots to the hair ends, then let it sit for at least 30 minutes. You may like to cover your hair with a disposable plastic shower during the wait. After the 30 minutes have passed do a final rinse, and enjoy your fresh new hair!

WHO WORE WHAT.....2016 Golden Globes Awards Red Carpet: Top Ten Favorite Gowns

Gown Fab: Some of the Best gowns seen at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet

Last night were the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards and the kickoff to the 2016 Awards Season and Awards Season Red Carpet! So how did the stars do in the gown choices? Pretty good for the most part. Besides the gorgeous Debbie Matenopoulos--TV Presenter, Greek food enthusiast and Co-Host of The Insider TV Show--who wore one of my NIKOLAKI gowns (more on that in a following post!), here are my Top Ten Favorite Gowns from last night's Golden Globes 2016 Red Carpet:

Jennifer Lawrence in Custom Christian Dior: I loved the modern, clean and architectural silhouette to this gown. As we know, Jennifer Lawrence is the "face" of the Dior addict Beauty Campaign and therefore, it is probably (most definitely!) in her contract to wear Dior, and why wouldn't she? The red column Custom Christian Dior gown features a cropped top design attached to the gown, plus side peek-a-boos. The structure is a blend of 60's simplicity with 70's minimal sexiness. Her makeup and hair are PERFECTION. And so is that statement-making necklace.

Malin Akerman in Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2016: Actress Malin Akerman looked radiantly beautiful in this strapless lace gown with structured peplum detail from the Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2016 Collection. She looked like European royalty.

Jennifer Lopez in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Fall 2015: Jennifer Lopez always knows how to "bring it!". I always say "Her momma done taught her well!", or she's had training with some fabulous drag queens, that's for sure! J Lo chose this mustard yellow silk double-face crepe gown from Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Fall 2015 Collection. I know that this style of a gown is not for everyone, but that's the point. This gown needs a fearless DIVA to work it. And Miss Lopez does. The hand-made $100,000+ gown features an attached shoulder cape, side hip draping  and yards and yards of falling fabric that ends in a dramatic train.

Lily James in Marchesa Spring 2016: At first glance, I thought this beautiful woman was one of those "Victoria's Secret" models--pick any of them!--and was reluctant to place her in my Top Ten List since I think placing a model here is a bit unfair because, well, they are models and have an added "edge" when stepping onto a red carpet...but no, in fact this is "Downton Abbey" actress Lily James. I think she looks like a Grecian Goddess angel in this one shoulder off-white iridescent organza gown from Marchesa Spring 2016 Collection. I think it was wise to add a full lining as opposed to wearing it just like on the runway. I love the draping and gathering and especially the back falls that dramatically add design interest to the dress.

Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda: Kate Bosworth wore this gorgeous all-over sequined gown from Dolce & Gabbana's Alta Moda Collection. The strapless gown features elaborately beaded bustier section and long straight skirt with slight train. Along with her severe hair style and "nude" makeup, she looks like a (Northern) Italian principessa!

Lady Gaga in Atelier Versace: I put Lady Gaga in my Top Ten because she deserved to be! I know that once again, this gown may not be liked by everyone from here to Poughkeepsie but...who cares! I love this "Mae West"-Meets-Marilyn Monroe look on Lady Gaga. I also love how she has made this style transition and embraced this Vintage Retro Glamour Diva look. The black silk velvet gown is from Atelier Versace (hello Donatella!) and features an off-the-shoulder neckline, cinched waist plus padded upper hips. All that she is missing is a group of tuxedo'ed men dancing around her!

Jaimie Alexander in Genny designed by Gabriele Colangelo: One of my favorite looks from last night's 2016 Golden Globes Red Carpet. This gown silhouette is not necessarily original but the FABULOUS emerald green-and-navy geometric print sure is. The architectural lines of the gown (severe plunging neckline, box-pleated skirt) are perfectly complimentary to the geometric "prints" on the gown's fabrication. Jaimie looks modern, chic and elegant.

Saoirse Ronan in Yves Saint Laurent Couture: Actress Saoirse Ronan wore another white Grecian Goddess-style gown (a 2016 Golden Globes red carpet trend perhaps?) at last night's Golden Globes. The gown is from Yves Saint Laurent Couture--which is basically the "PR" arm of Saint Laurent making custom gowns for actresses for award show red carpets and important events. I liked the simplistic elegance of this gown and the fact that it actually does give slight homage to the real Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture gowns of the past, albeit, he would have done it in bright orange or in a glorious animal print! But I'll take a good Grecian Goddess gown and praise it whenever it is warranted; and her it is!

Zendaya in Marchesa Pre-Fall 2016: Zendaya made quite a fashion statement--in my eyes--wearing this wine-red applique gown from Marchesa Pre-Fall 2016 Collection. The gown featured a plunging neckline and triple tiered gown-skirt. I loved the drama of the gown and yes, only 5' 10" model-thin Zendaya could probably pull this silhouette off.

Jenna Dewan Tatum in Zuhair Murad Couture Fall 2015: I loved this gown when I saw photos of it from the Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Fall 2015 runway and I love it on the red carpet, here worn by Mrs. Channing Tatum. The theme of that collection was "traveling through the heavens" and certainly, there is a Galactic feel to the midnight blue gown with star-like sequins. It is a gorgeous gown, one of the most impacting at the 2016 Golden Globes Red Carpet.

**UP NEXT: The All-Over Sequined Gown Fab....of the 2016 Golden Globes Red Carpet!

THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY- Part 2 Fashion Review

Cheer up tributes: Katniss is back to lead us to the glorious epilogue of The Hunger Games saga: Mockingjay-Part 2!

Excuse me if I get emotional here, but this blog debuted with a timid review of The Hunger Games first ever premiere in LA, when Jennifer Lawrence’s shimmering floor-length Prabal Gurung’s number inspired me to start this amazing blogging experience: so dear Jen, if you are reading this, please remember that I owe you, your first stylist and Prabal Gurung a luxurius Italian dinner!

Tonight the famous blockbuster will debut in theatres, hoping to stop Skyfall’s success at the box office: fans and critics still have few hours before typing their comments on the movie, so we still have time to indulge in fashion and review the best (and worst) outfit presented by the movie cast during their last promo tour.

Since the boys delivered quite good outfits all along, I will focus on the ladies, starting with the star…

JENNIFER LAWRENCE
The blond Oscar-winner might have ditched Rachel Zoe as her stylist (she is now styled by Jill Lincoln and Jordan Johnson), but as predicted she could not ditch Dior. The current Miss Dior donned several looks from the French maison on the red carpet…with mixed effects:

The one that made us say “J’adore”
Los Angeles premiere

The one that made us say ”ok”
Beijing premiere

The one that mad us say “next”
London premiere

The one that made us say “Is this really custom made?”
Berlin premiere

The one that made us say “WHY?”
Paris premiere

Therefore it’s no surprise if my favourite look from the entire promo tour is not a Dior design:
New York premiere
this sexy Schiaparelli Couture gown was saved for last and to me the vampy look stole the show.

ELIZABETH BANKS
If this was a competition than Elisabeth would have won without even trying: the American actress was easily the best dressed of the entire tour.
You don believe me? Take a look:
[Look 1 : Razan Alazzouni_London premiere; Look 2: Elie Saab_Berlin premiere]

WILLOW SHIELDS
Styled by Luxury law, a.k.a. the mastermind behind Zendaya’s show-stopping red carpet looks, the young actress brought her youthful energy and elegant touch to the red carpet.
My favourite look has to be the Naeem Khan she wore at the LA premiere, while I was less convinced by the Marni’s VIP Capsule Collection dress at the Berlin premiere.
[Look 1 : Naeem Khan_LA premiere; Look 2: Marni_Berlin premiere]

JENA MALONE
I believe her goal was to give Elisabeth and Jennifer a run for their money, since she looked extremely elegant on the red carpet.
[Look 1: Reem Acra_Berlin premiere ; Look 2: Gauri&Nainika_LA premiere]

NATALIE DORMER
This woman is a mistery to me: beautiful and talented but on the red carpet she always struggles to shine. This time she managed to catch my attention by wearing a Vivienne Westwood gown, that although being few inches a way to give me ‘costumy’ vibes, looked beautiful on her.

And so it ends: time to rush into the theaters to watch the girl on fire one last time!

Summary
"With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem, and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games."
