The first time I thought that pink looked really badass was when Rihanna showed up to the Grammys in 2015. She wore a double-tiered Giambattista Valli dress that seemed to take over the red carpet. Though it invited plenty of cupcake memes, there was nothing sweet about it. Scan through her wardrobe and you'll see how Rihanna has always styled the color with her signature edge. It turns out she was just ahead of the game.
As we followed the runways at Paris Haute Couture Week this season, we were impressed by the many pink poufs, including Lily-Rose Depp's Chanel wedding gown. Though these designs might have been created with a delicate hand, finished with whimsical, girlie details, it would take guts to wear them — to know that everyone would be staring at you. It would take confidence to glide along in all those extra layers of tulle.
Throw out all the attributes you used to associate with pink, because it's gone through something of a transformation. In our eyes, pink still represents femininity, but a daring, confident brand of femininity. Pink doesn't blend in with the crowd; it's the single hue women are opting for when they want to stand out. While Kim Kardashian once famously said of tattoos, “You don’t put a bumper sticker on a Bentley,” her sisters haven’t exactly heeded her advice. Kendall Jenner, for one, has three, each of which are tiny and hidden. Yet for her latest editorial, the model isn’t covering anything up.
Appearing on V magazine’s January cover, the reality star flaunts a huge green snake creeping from her midthigh all the way up to the top of her hip. But as it turns out, the tattoo isn’t permanent.
Alongside the 21-year-old, models Carolyn Murphy, Joan Smalls, Lara Stone, Amber Valletta, and Ellen Rosa all got temporarily inked by male model Paul Lemaire as well. Makeup and body artist Jenai Chin was the mastermind behind all of the creative custom tattoos, and she has come up with some really cool limited-edition pinup temporary tattoos that are already available to purchase.
Politics took center stage at Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild awards, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus among many winners taking aim at President Trump’s anti-immigrant policies.
In fact, very few ignored what was going on in the world. Kate Hudson arrived and flashed a peace sign — which, to be fair, is kind of her thing — to screaming fans as she made her way inside.

La La Land‘s Ryan Gosling and John Legend happened upon each other on the red carpet and exchanged handshakes and hugs before they placed Legend’s better half, Chrissy Teigen, between them to take photos.
Later on, winner Sarah Paulson was having a major case of FOMO. “I’m missing Dolly,” she said, as she realized her press room interview had coincided with Lily Tomlin’s awards intro.
Backstage, acting winner Emma Stone, clad in Alexander McQueen, spoke out about current events and the need to keep the conversation going.
“I think if we’re human beings, and we see injustice, we have to speak up, because staying silent, as they say, only really helps the oppressor. It never helps the victim. So I think that, yes, right now, I would hope that everyone when seeing things being done that are absolutely unconstitutional and inhumane, would say something, in any venue. Whether it’s at school or at an awards show or work, offices, or online, I would hope that people would fight for what’s right and what’s just effing human — sorry, I said the F word. I whispered it,” she said. “So I don’t know, but this is a time unlike any other, so it’s amazing to see people speaking up and taking action. More than anything else, taking action.”
At the end of the night, the cast of Hidden Figures looked to Taraji Henson at the end of her final response, encouraging her to drop the mic. She slowly, carefully dangled the cord closer and closer to the ground until the mic touched the floor, receiving cheers from her cast mates and the press.
