"Hair Water" the Ancient Japanese Beauty Trend can be the trend of 2017

For centuries, Japanese women have washed their hair with rice water—yes, as in the starchy stuff drained from the pots in their kitchen—to stimulate growth, make strands stronger, and improve scalp health. The revival of this D.I.Y. treatment has been hailed the "hair water" trend.

Always looking for new ways to tend to my poor damaged strands, yet a dud in the kitchen thanks to a little thing called Seamless, I, of course, needed a shortcut for this ancient technique.

Here's how it works: After shampooing, massage the hair water into the scalp, then down through the ends. Once your hair is fully saturated, leave it on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse it out. And that's it! See? If you play your cards right, lazy tendencies don't have to be the downfall of good hair. There's plenty of humidity for that.

The Most Ravishing Red Carpet Beauty Moments From the 2017 SAG Awards

The 2017 award shows have delivered some serious red carpet glam moments so far. While the dresses are always gorgeous, the beauty looks have also been equal — and sometimes better. From Emily Blunt’s low-key neutrals and Ariel Winter’s bold tangerine lips to Taraji P. Henson’s edgy side-shaved bob and Emma Stone’s soft waves, we absolutely could not get enough. There were so many wow moments! Here are 10 that truly almost stole the entire show.

Kaley Cuoco ‘Forgets’ She’s Famous, Says Her Makeup Artist

Her Marchesa dress was sweet and frothy, like ice cream blended with cotton candy.

Which is why The Big Bang Theory nominee Kaley Cuoco opted to focus on her skin when getting ready for the SAG Awards. That means her longtime makeup artist Jamie Greenberg barely used any color, letting Cuoco’s enviable complexion be the star of the red carpet.

“The dress was the star of the show. It was ethereal. Our first inclination was to do a bold lip. But sometimes everything has to be on the same playing field. That’s what we went for,” says Greenberg. “It was girlie and relaxed and a chill chic situation.”

Greenberg doesn’t consider her glam sessions with Cuoco to be a job, as defined by sometimes having to do stuff you don’t necessarily enjoy. “No, it’s not work. It’s pure fun,” says Greenberg. ‘I’m so lucky that I met her and our work relationship has turned into a friendship. We haze each other. It’s fun and laughter. We joke on each other. We sing. We dance. We snap. We have a blast.”

She prepped her skin with Kiehl’s Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque, Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment, Kiehl’s Pure Vitality cream, and Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector.

For eyes, she used Mac Eye Shadow in All That Glitters followed by Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. On her cheeks, Bobbi Brown Cheek Glow palette in Pink Opal and Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Homecoming Pink. For contouring, Greenberg turned to St. Tropez Sculpt and Glow.

For the face, Greenberg applied new St. Tropez 3-in-1 Sculpting Powder (launching March 2017) to contour and highlight Kaley’s bone structure and give her skin a hint of bronze. Then, Greenberg rubbed more St. Tropez Finishing Gloss between her hands and gently blotted it onto Kaley’s face to add little more dewiness for the perfect red-carpet-ready glow.

For the body, Greenberg swept on a layer of St. Tropez One Night Only Face and Body Lotion in Light/Medium, covering her skin and blending with her hands to give the skin warmth. Then, for a dewy glow, Greenberg applied an extra layer of the new St. Tropez One Night Only Finishing Gloss (launching March 2017) to highlight her arms and décolletage so that her skin would look radiant for the red carpet.

On Cuoco’s lips, Greenberg used MAC Liptensity Lipstick in Medium Rare to continue with the soft and glowing theme.

The coolest thing about working with Cuoco: She doesn’t realize she’s famous.

“She forgets. She has a life. She’s involved with her horses. She doesn’t really focus on one thing. Her parents did a really good job of keeping her life balanced,” says Greenberg. “She’s so down to earth. Even the other night, we went to the EW  [Entertainment Weekly] party and dinner after, and everyone turns to look at her and she’s oblivious. That’s very rare. She has a well-balanced life and she’s a happy person. She radiates such light.”

Sophie Turner Flashed Her Abs in Revealing Crop Top

Sophie Turner was the fashionable epitome of versatility on Sunday night.

On the SAG Awards red carpet, the Game of Thrones actress stunned in a form-fitting Louis Vuitton gown with an asymmetrical neckline and thigh-high slit. But after walking that red carpet in a glam red gown — with crimson red lip to match — she changed into something much more comfortable (for her, at least). The 20-year-old slipped into a pair of high-waisted jeans and long-sleeved crop top for the after parties.

Turner’s fit physique was front and center in the edgy, ab-flashing outfit. A cropped black-and-purple sweatshirt sat stylishly off her shoulders, while a small silver zipper held the top in place. Her high-waisted, skinny black jeans were cinched with a thin black leather belt whose LV logo buckle was a subtle nod to the custom-made Louis Vuitton gown she had worn earlier. Mesh heels and a boxy silver clutch completed the look.

Two things that didn’t change? Her hair and makeup. Turner’s long blonde, center-parted hair hung in loose pin curls over her shoulders, while a strong red lip emphasized her pale porcelain skin.

But this isn’t the first time the actress has made a bold style statement this awards season. Earlier this month, she walked the Golden Globes red carpet in another Louis Vuitton dress, this one multicolored with a plunging neckline and mesh and glitter detailing. But what’s truly been stealing the show is the actress’ very real — and very adorable — friendship with her Game of Thrones costar Maisie Williams.

At the Globes, Turner was spotted on the red carpet fixing her pal Williams’ gown as she posed for photos, and the world declared them the official epitome of #friendshipgoals. At the SAGs, the sisterly love continued to flow, with Turner posting a sweet snap of the two onscreen siblings seated next to each other at the SAG Awards with the simple caption, “bae.”

French Girl Cool: A Look Back at Clare Waight Keller’s Best Moments at Chloé

After six successful years — both commercially and critically — Clare Waight Keller announced her departure from Chloé on Monday.

“After six extraordinary years at Chloé, I would like to thank Geoffroy and all my colleagues for their enormous efforts over the past years,” Waight Keller said in a statement. “Working for this maison has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. Chloé is a brand with values close to my heart and I have truly enjoyed working with some of the best talents in the industry. I feel privileged to have worked for a maison with such a heritage and I am very proud of all that has been achieved.”

The epitome of French girl cool and the laissez-faire attitude that comes with it, the Chloé girl has always been our style crush.

Waight Keller’s Chloé girl managed to capture back some of the acclaim of Phoebe Philo’s Chloé golden era — especially when the brand’s Faye and the Drew bags became the “it” bags of the past few seasons. Fans of the brand — including singer Adele, Blake Lively, Olivia Palermo, and Chrissy Teigen — have made the Chloé aesthetic their own, whether it’s for an ultrafeminine look or one with a touch of rock ‘n’ roll.

Here, we look back at Waight Keller’s tenure at Chloé and toast her next move. After all, she will now join the impressive list of Chloé alumni — Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and of course, Phoebe Philo —who have gone one to bigger and better things.

Miss Universe Contestants Shattered the Pageant Dress Stereotype

Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe gaffe stole the show during the 2016 Miss Universe competition. Yet for this year’s scandal-free event, the gowns (and, of course, the women wearing them) were a focal point of the night — which was good news for Marquis Bias, the stylist for the Miss Universe Organization.

So what made this year’s pageant fashion, which is typically overlooked, different than in the past? Contestants shifting away from wearing typical “pageant” looks (think voluminous tulle skirts with jewel-encrusted bodices in bright colors) and opting for more typical red carpet ready stunners.

Bias, who is a fan of the trend, says that the change is being brought on by the participants themselves and that IMG, which bought the organization in late 2015, has also been a proponent of the shift.

“Of course there’s still girls that are tried and true pageant girls, and their gowns are very of that inspiration, but I feel that a lot of the girls that are more successful in the evening gown competition are girls that choose gowns that could easily be seen on any red carpet,” Bias tells Yahoo Style.

Case in point: the dresses worn by the competition’s top nine finalists, especially those of Miss Kenya, Miss Thailand, and Miss Haiti. Of course, no one’s fashion was more emblematic of this trend than that of the crowned winner herself, Miss France, Iris Mittenaere.

The dental surgery student, whose honesty during the Q&A section made her a shoo-in for the crown, dressed in a gold couture gown that reportedly took five months to make for the evening gown portion of the night. Yet, Bias admits that he “was just very excited to have a Miss France because it’s been 64 years, if I’m not mistaken, since Europe has had a winner.”

As a function of his role, Bias works with the crowned Miss Teen USA, Miss USA, and Miss Universe throughout their respective reigns. “We often have Latin winners, which is wonderful; we’ve had several winners from Asia; we’ve had quite a few American winners; we’ve had some African winners as well; but we haven’t had a European winner in quite some time.”

Miss Universe 2016, Pia Wurtzbach, who’s from the Philippines where the competition took place and also collaborated with Bias, crowned her successor in a blue custom-designed Michael Cinco couture gown.
