The Best Street Style From Fall 2018 New York Fashion

When the most stylish people in the world flock to New York in February for Fashion Week, you can always expect to get some phenomenal, unexpected, bundled-up outfit inspiration. A lot of them might be wearing the spring 2018 collections that have just dropped in stores, but given the wintry forecast, they can't just mimic the runway styling. Instead, they find creative ways to layer and mix-and-match these pieces so they're seasonally appropriate.

The result? A whole lot of fresh takes on how to double up on coats, how to build an outfit around a puffer jacket, and other styling ideas we'll definitely be copying ourselves over the next few months. Ahead, check out some of the best street style to come out of fall 2018 New York Fashion Week.

What We Loved at New York Fashion Week

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, New York Fashion Week was held at one, single location; a magical place called Bryant Park. Then, New York Fashion Week moved to another single location, this time, uptown; another magical place called Lincoln Center. And then everything sort of went haywire, location wise.

It's certainly exciting seeing all these buildings and spaces around Manhattan where designers show their collections (Bottega Veneta showed at the New York Stock Exchange! Wang showed at the old Condé Nast building!) but nowadays, you spend more time trying to get to a show then you do seeing the actual clothes.

With that in mind, we bring you uninterrupted photos of our favorite looks from New York Fashion Week. No NYC traffic. No crowded elevators. Just. The. Clothes.

At Calvin Klein, Raf Simons Tests the Limits of the Space Age, with a Nod to Jiffy Pop

You may be too young to remember this, but 20 years ago, Calvin Klein – the OG of American sportswear himself – created a bit of a media sensation when he became the first designer to publish advertisements on popcorn bags sold in movie theaters.

Klein, then at the height of his influence as a pop-culture provocateur, set a new tone for marketing in theaters that were, at the time, seen as a respite from the cold, cruel world of advertising. He did this simply by promoting his jeans and fragrances on bags of popcorn. It was a big deal then, anyway, when cell phones were just toys.

Tonight in New York, Calvin Klein is showing its latest collection under the leadership of Belgian designer Raf Simons. If you're not in the city—or simply don't have a ticket (don't worry, it happens to the best of us)—there's no reason to worry.

How Ralph Lauren’s Vacation-Inspired Spring Fashion Show Came Together

Today in New York, Ralph Lauren sent his spring/summer 2018 collection down the runway. Inspired by the Lauren family's home in Jamaica, the show featured barefoot models, laid-back looks with a distinctly beachy feel, and (of course) a whole lot of classic RL charm.

"Everyone wishes for a magical place where they can step out of time into the beauty of nature," Lauren said in a press release. "For Spring 2018, I wanted to share the mood, the light, the blue and white freshness of my retreat in Jamaica. My collections for women and men conjure up the carefree, sophisticated style of this special experience—exuberant, luxurious, timeless!"

But before everything made its New York Fashion Week debut, there was work to be done. Looks had to be decided upon, fits perfected, and models cast. Here's a look at the final fitting before the show, where the guys donned the clothes they wore down the runway today.

What's particularly interesting—besides getting a look behind the proverbial curtain—is seeing how things shift and final decisions are made. Take, for instance, this look, which initially included a suit jacket:

5 Trends To Embrace In 2018

Set your sights on the new season? Up your game with Vogue's edit of trends for 2018. We're talking ugly shoes (it's a thing!), the fresh model face to know, and the unlikely return of cycling shorts... all beautifully illustrated by fashion's favourite illustrator, Tanya Ling.

Cycling shorts are back, requisitioned from the Eighties aerobics studio. Well, only if they’re beautifully rendered in lace, as seen at Saint Laurent, where they were worn underneath a voluminous ball gown, or Nina Ricci, where they underscored tassel-heavy shirts. Time to tone up those thighs.

The style cognoscenti don't waste time with handbag clutter. Streamline your daily haul and upgrade your wallet: with plastic as a key catwalk trend at Valentino (seen here, with a studded purse interior), Chanel and Céline, your entirely see-through handbag should only reveal a neatly curated interior.

Any summer wedding guest can throw a cardigan over their dress - it’s those who are fastening them at the throat with a bejewelled brooch, arms left trailing (à la Erdem) that are winning right now.

You're never too old to play with porcelain: a raspberry chain of embroidered dolls on white cotton at Simone Rocha, inspired by her collection of childhood toys, is the new-season update on florals. If that feels a little girly, try chintzy feet: Mulberry's sleek ankle boots come with a bone china heel fit for a country house dresser.

We love the lissom Yorkshire teen Fran Summers, who stormed spring at Saint Laurent, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton and Céline in her debut season. Her agent signed her up on the premise that she reminded him of a young Natalie Portman, playing child assassin Mathilda in Léon. True to form, she's killing it.

Getting Married at the Same Wedding Venue as Your Cousin? Here's How to Make It Your Own

While we were extremely excited to find out that another royal wedding is on the horizon—that of Princess Eugenie, who announced her engagement this week—another detail about her big day caught our attention too: She has booked the same chapel as her cousin, Prince Harry. And the two high-profile weddings are to take place only several months apart.

It is somewhat strangely comforting to know that even royals are not immune to the same problems us commoners have to deal with, like, how do you make sure your wedding looks totally different from your friend's/relative's/royal cousin-in-law's when they're both taking place at the same venue?

First impressions are everything, so make sure there is a serious floral statement for guests to see upon entering," says Danielle Gonzalez of Blooms by the Box. "Consider placing two large centerpieces on either side of the entrance or having a floral focal point in the form of a lush photo backdrop or bridal table. This will ensure that you’re guiding [your guests] through a different experience from the moment the wedding begins."

She also suggests opting out of the regular table centerpieces and, instead, going for hanging ones. They not only make for absolutely breathtaking decor elements but are also quite practical since they will not take up any of your table space
