On the Rivet - Art & Fashion - Well we like that!

And I like it when my weeks meanderings turn into some sort of mostly coherent visual significance; and photography for you. My first show of the week (starts 3rd shot down) was Tyrannium by Dionysos Anton at KUDOS Gallery which features youth-style inspired art and a number of jackets that had been artified as well as rugs/wall hangings from upcycled fabrics, the denim wall work is pictured below. All along with a collection of drawings large and small and sculptural pieces that were not 'fashion' a billy/go-cart (looked like a dad build to me); a forest of stakes.. a video edit of Japanese Godzilla animations - everything a budding young heart could desire - and I loved it!

Of course it's also VIVID Sydney so I have been prowling around working on my 2016 VIVID photographic project. Which is just how I came to bump into two of the artists who were servicing their artworks, which were a little worse for wear after the terrible weekend weather.. Then last night the Duchamp meets Non-Objective works of Joe Wilson & Chanelle Collier at their show ART THAT DOES at Mils Gallery; and a diversely stylish art crowd very much in evidence. All of which was capped off by the jacket, patches, rings and tattooed fingers of the lady immediately below; as I left the Shakespeare Hotel after a steak and chips and another glass of ale. As always lots to see in Sydney, these shows are all on now; links below.

A little over two weeks ago was Fashion's Night Out all over the US--and the World, on September 6th. If you've been following my travails, travels and this blog, you may remember that on that date, I was in New York City celebrating Fashion's Night Out at the Lord & Taylor Fifth Avenue Flagship with hundreds of shoppers and "Project Runway" fans who came out to "hang out" with the Project Runway Designers--including moi, of course. I was also there to unveil the dress I designed for the first ever "Project Runway 10th Anniversary Dress Collection".

It was a blast of course, but all the way on the other side of the country--on the West Coast, my dresses were also been exhibited but without me unfortunately--at the exciting "FIDM Debut Designer Exhibition" at the Beverly Center.

The Beverly Center was the epicenter of LA's FNO events. The night was launched by Vogue West Coast Editor Lisa Love, actress and singer Lucy Hale and reality show lovely Kendall Jenner (of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians"). This happened on September 6 and then from Friday September 7th-Sunday September 9th, the Beverly Center had a special tableaux in the Center Court of Level 6, showing designs from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM Debut Designers.

FIDM Debut is the Advanced Fashion design program of the college I attended and graduated from. I was a Debut student--back "in the day" (don't EVEN think about finding out the YEAR!)--and so my Alma Mater asked me if I could lend them some of my NIKOLAKI red carpet creations to be displayed as part of this three-day exhibition--alongside other Debut graduates (some of which I was their instructor!).

The other FIDM Debut Designers that were featured in the exhibition included Brenda Ahamad, Randy Lee Donato, Justin Green, Paul Hernandez, Michael Pinpin, Natalia Romano, Clay Sadler and Valentina Vardanyan. I never got to see the actual display since I was out of town and it came down before I returned to Los Angeles, but luckily, my "friends" at FIDM took these pics here.

Here are a couple more photos of the exhibition:

MBFWA to-VIVID-to Great Art 'n' Shsstyle IN-between!!

Although I often don't show them in pictures; mostly; well lots of my friends are creatives. Hello! Artists, Designers, Art LOVERS! (probably a few bullshit artists..) Scribes of one sort of another, Musicians!  Of course; Lovers not Haters. PR's, well that's a tricky one..  And I almost never show them in a blog post even if they are at an event. Strange or not, it's almost like if you are a friend of mine, I will edit you out of the story of the night (or day) in some sort of attempt at journalistic impartiality.. no that can't be it I'm a blogger! Anyway this week it's an all-in, everyone, who, whom, whomever.. and looking fresher too I think. Here's the Art. Here's the Street Fashion - Gallery Style - check the links below, stuff is on now, check it out! Fashion to Photography to Painting to Light and plenty of Street Fashion as well on the way. Oh and forget yellows (sort0f), it's RED Black & Blue!
