Do you ever feel the need to press pause on life so everything around you could stop, even if it was only for a few seconds ? Every year, Fashion Week season seems to get to me in a way that is pretty hard for me to describe or understand. All of the excitement of making plans, sending away show invitation requests, book flights and hotels, getting invited to parties and after-parties, all of a sudden, changes into exhaustion and and energy loss at one point of another. Ask anyone who does Fashion Month twice a year, these times of the year are ruthless ;)
Not that I am complaining or anything, I mean, who is to blame but me for putting myself through such a soul-sucking mechanism that is Fashion Week, right ? But still, with time, I've been wanting to take better care of myself in those situations; if I want to do it, I have to do it the right way and the healthy way. Aside from exercising regularly, eating well, sleeping and almost acceptable amount of hours per night(!), I turned to meditation as a good way to re-energize my body, recharge my mind and spirit, and regain my strength, whether it is before of after a busy couple of days. I am finding myself to be totally obsessed with Éveil des Sens Spa Urbain's newest addition, the float spa; a giant pod filled with warm water and epsom salt in which, you can let yourself literally float for hours, a scientifically proven, time-efficient method of unwinding and regenerating from the daily grind !
Floating is a means of intense relaxation, based on the perfect state experienced while inside the womb. I find it to be SO deeply relaxing and rejuvenating for the body and mind, not to mention that it reduces harmful stress hormones, alleviates pain and tension, and stimulates the release of beneficial endorphins within the brain. Many benefits I get to enjoy before important trips and eventful adventures abroad ;)
