Liven Eats - Zam Zam Indian & Malaysian

Wednesday 17th May

Well Liven took us here, shame there are so many conditions and exemptions. Including all the lunch specials and set menus. Liven is only good if you order the more expensive things... quite a few places charge more when you use the app.

ZamZam is near the Emporium, uphill towards the West. A cheap no frills joint.

With an extensive menu there's plenty to choose from.

During lunch it's quite busy, Friday night dinners not so much.

You could get a meal for under $12, classifying Zam Zam as a cheap eat in our books.

The student offer's pretty good too.

The professor had the samosas, average he says. As a chain smoker and heavy drinker he has no tastebuds, so we're not sure how valid his opinions are when it comes to food...

We had the student deal, which included a lot of rice! The butter chicken was very average, the goat curry too salty and the potatoes a bit spicy. A cup of coke was also included for $10, along with unlimited rice or roti.

Round two takeaway we had a similar dish, with beef that was too fatty and chewy. The chickpeas were fine though.

Overall average, very friendly service, cheap eat no frills. We won't be back when there's so much more on offer in the city. For Indian we love Curry Camp in Camberwell, or Red Pepper on Bourke St.
