Kobe Jones is a Modern Japanese waterside restaurant known for teppanyaki, and groupon deals. Through dimmi we were offered 50% off and it was the perfect time to visit. Easy to get to being a bit past Flinders x Spencer before the bridge to Crown.
On this Tuesday evening we were seated in an indoor box with waterfront view, hourly fire displays (some of the ones further away from the city end) could be seen from here.
We choose the Kobe10 set menu at $80pp, 2 people min.
With a buttery miso sauce this was pretty good, and there was a variety of textures - we love pine nuts!

Edamame - Steamed and salted baby soya beans in the pod.
These are like peanuts at the bar, they are what they are. Not much to write about.
Seafood Poke - Hawaiian style sashimi cubes marinated in poke sauce
Super fresh with a variety of textures from the fish, row, avocado and seaweed salad. Google says 'poke' is a raw fish salad served as an appetizer in Hawaiian cuisine.
Hot Mushroom Salad - shimiji and enoki mushrooms, sautéed
with seaweed, butter and pine nuts, served on fresh garden greens

Volcano Rolls - oven baked scallops layered on a crab salad, avocado roll,
with special cream sauce and sesame seed and shallot sprinkle
The highlight of the night! So much more than just sushi!
Sea urchins soft and sweet on top. I'd come back just to order this dish!
Prawn & Vegetable Tempura - Two prawns with seasonal vegetables
(shrooms and pumpkin) and dipping sauce
While fried they weren't at all oily and quite light.
Yakitori - chicken skewered with baby leeks and basted with teriyaki sauce
Tender dark soy teriyaki chicken, not too salty but seasoned just right.
Miso Soup - Kobe Jones’s red and white miso
Not too salty. There isn't much to say.
Crab Slider - soft shell crab served on a brioche style bun
with shaved cabbage and yuzu aioli
The yuzu aioli was quite similar to a lemon myrtle mayo,
but with that special something that only yuzu can add.
Tenderloin Amiyaki - grilled and sliced, served with mushrooms in seaweed,
butter and sauteed spinach, stir fried capsicum and amiyaki sauce
Rare beef. Pales in comparison to the other dishes.
Green Tea Ice Cream - Premium grade! Tiny ping pong ball sized.
They were rich and creamy, the best we've had.
Delicious. Small bites though very filling. Warm and warmly lit, cozy with the curtain and soft music in the background.
Service was minimal though friendly and prompt with dishes arriving one after the other and water being refilled often, it was pretty chill and not rushed.
