Santa's Gimp and the Amazing World (that was) Rock Photography, with Tony Mott.

Photography (that was), what a strange little blog title especially since Mr Tony Mott is still a photographer. Why the "that was"? Well because, digital photography, of course! In the lead up to this event on the 22nd of November 2015 I was reading how Tony took a year off to help look after his newborn twins; and when he took this photography sabbatical he had 182 rock mag clients on file that he sold pictures to. A year later there were just 22, and now only 3 of the original 182 left! Now of course people are as passionate about music as ever, and as passionate about rock photography as ever.. But it's all gone online, it's getting shot-and-shared by amateurs for free; and let me tell you; it's hard to make a living working for free, Q.E.D. this blog.Santa's Gimp? But great Rock 'n' Roll photographer that Tony is, he was not going to launch his A-Z of Rock Photography book on a low note, hell no; it was going to be rock-and-roll all the way with way more than just a nod in the direction of "your momma won't like it" :-) hell no - HELL NO! I ask you, what's wrong with kids today? All signing up for frequent flyer points and all that consumer loyalty shit and a free cup of coffee - You know REBELLION - is still the only cool gig in town - stop nerding, lets get back to ROCKIN'... Scroll on, because here are the players on the night.

Fashion Preview - Jean Paul Gaultier for Target Australia in 2016.

YES it's TRUE! Target have opened the door to affordable High Fashion yet again. This time it's from French Fashion Icon Jean Paul Gaultier who has produced a fabulous range of fashion and home wares for Target stores available January 2016. Last night saw the exclusive range preview and launch party, all in a fabulous-French, Jean Paul Gaultier influenced Breton-striped style along with creamy Fromage and Piper-Heidsieck Brut Champagne. A great looking selection of JPG fashion, something quite literally for everyone, don't spend all your money at the January sales, save some for when this classic French Fashion drops!

Time to ACT - No Planet - No Future! Sydney Climate Change Rally & March.

One of the fun things I saw this morning after logging into Facebook was a fairly typical; Positive Thinking cartoon of two people riding in a bus above a valley on a curving road. One person (the negative sad one) is looking at an endless craggy rock face, a solid impenetrable wall. The other person (the happy positive one) is looking out the other side of the bus at a golden valley. The obvious conclusion is that life is how you look at it. Unfortunately life is a little more complex than simplistic solutions to all your problems and the problems of the world - #ClimateChange is real. A trip to Bali to meditate on it is not going to solve it - at least unless your mediation leads you to ACT!

Back to the cartoon, and all I could think was, "thank god someone's driving the bus"! Because these two passengers are BOTH just passive riders; and the time for being Passive Riders, Passive Consumers, just Passive, passive.. is over. So here I am today, wanting to put my two cents in, and my pictures from the march in Sydney yesterday - You should have been there! I also read the other day that there would be no fish in the sea by 2048, not concerned? Don't be lazy, Google it. It's Time to Act!!!

Well Done Sydney banner and people after the march, Macquarie Street - Sydney, Climate Change March, The Domain, Macquarie Street, Climate Change, Protest, #NoPlanetNoFuture, #PeoplesClimate, #PeoplesClimateMarch, #Sydney,

Apparently when the march arrived at Moore Stairs, marchers were asked to head down the stairs and also put away their banners so as to not disturb people enjoying the weekend.. Ultimately some were permitted to also continue down Macquarie street to the Opera House forecourt(ish) area; but there would be no massed gathering of marchers under the Opera House sails; which as was pointed out to me by the award winning photo journalist I was standing next too, is "what you needed for international coverage, and saleable pictures".. Strange coincidence or political expedience? You decide dear reader.

In the Gallery - from Performance Art to Art with Performance.

A few weeks ago I wrote how great it can be to turn up at a gallery with no idea what the show would be like and be relieved it's (more or less) an exhibition of well executed figurative painting. Now that does not mean painting is not challenging and it certainly does not mean I want to live in an art comfort zone of big overstuffed chairs and couches - now there's an idea.. So it was refreshing last week to attend three shows at three separate gallery sites all of which had a some level of performance as part of the opening night.

The week kicked off with Madeline Beckett's Press Her at KUDOS Gallery featuring sound artists Joji Malani and Joel van Gastel, with performances by Boni Cairncross, James Batchelor, Ryl Harris, Lucy Westbrook, Veronica Barac and Emma Batchelor. Produced by Joel van Gastel and Paul Beckett. The performances ran continuously for well over an hour, the first thing to hit me was the strong smell of fresh coffee - in a fish tank being walked back and forth across the entry area of the gallery; is it too obvious to say 'wake up - experience the art'..!! The coordinated performances making up the whole had an impeccable tempo, the mood building almost unperceivably with Joji Malani on guitar; in a NECKS like performance right there.

What's in Dogue? Next was a perfect example of I have no idea what I'm going to see.  David Capra & Teena the Dachshund at the launch of, EAU DE WET DOGGE at Gallery 9 in Darlinghurst. Was the perfume spray, the bubble gun and Teena a performance? Of course it was! And an art installation, lots of fun; not too sure about the scent!

Meanwhile at Art House in Rushcutters Bay the art was progressive rock-ing out with live performance by Timothy McPhee & Jason Tanpake from Firekites for Aaron Kinnane's Winter Passing, Milk Moon Rising.

The only 'performance' Nanda/Hobbs was my friend taking a seat on the the window sill and starting to flick through Grindr! I have been reading that Tinder is destroying the pub scene; you have to wonder if it's at all possible for the art scene to be susceptible too? You know what, I think not; Art is a completely different world, demanding of your attention, and I like that! Get out there and take a look too.

Priceline's 40% Off Cosmetics!

Yes everybody!! The Priceline 40% off Cosmetics sale is back again!!!!!
(If you're confused about my excitement, this is pretty much the equivalent to Christmas for me).

The last sale in March was the first time I'd ever heard of this happening at Priceline, and being the little drugstore advocate that I am, I jumped to my multiple Priceline stores with a double-checked list in hand to grab exactly what I wanted.

My partners in beauty have confirmed the best, that the second of the year Priceline 40% off all Cosmetics Sale will be on next week, during Wednesday the 18th and Thursday the 19th of November.

To understand the products you should stock up on if you don't have them yet, I've put a list together for you below! (If you have no clue, check out my blog post on Beauty Bag Basics for a competent guide of what kinds of products you should be looking at first).

Matin Mon Amour's Priceline Sale Recommendations

This is a re-buy for me! Never have I met such a handy and well working mascara in all my days.

For $2 these liner's are a blast! Quite a smooth formula with near to no tugging gives me hope, I want all of them! There no MAC Liners, but for $2, they are good.

Like Sailors to a Siren, or a mosquito to a bright light, I am notoriously attracted to cream contours. Maybe it's because I haven't met a cheap dupe of ABH that I've liked yet. Curiosity will kill me, and my budget, but I still need to see if this is any good.

One of my favourite beauty bloggers @makeupbyan created a look with this palette, and ever since I've had my eye on it! I love all kinds of shadow palettes, and I know I'll be picking up a few, especially Chi Chi and Models Prefer from this sale!

I am really intrigued by this powder, and after searching for something light and absorbent to swipe on for Summer, I want to try this! I'll be picking up a few other Australis things this November, like the Australis CYA Later Pore Primer.
And I know I'll snatch up a few more spontaneous buys in my fit of passion on the day. This really is a great sale to take advantage of some amazing drugstore products for an insane discount!

What's on your Priceline 40% off Cosmetics Sale Buy List?
