5 Witchy Things You Can do Everyday to Feel Amazing Inside Out

Throughout time and history, witches have been controversially feared and misunderstood by society, mostly as they are self-defining in the same way women are defining themselves today. As a matter of fact, they represent powerful symbols of feminine knowledge and today, thanks to the it-magical women's of the big screen, from “American Horror Story” to Jenji Kohan’s upcoming series about the Salem Witch Trials, they're seeing a resurgence in pop culture and gaining new respect as an enduring feminist symbol.

Modern witches may be more social media savvy, but they're still self-possessed and in control in a way that resonates with modern women. They'll make use of traditional practices to take care of themselves and their spaces, and with an added dose of intention and extra care, you too can bring their powerful, time-honoured traditions into your daily routine...

ADOPT A MANTRA

Mantras are amazing little things. As we all phase in and out of feeling strong, capable and driven one day and then weak, self-defeating and completely lost another day, self-talk, in the most simplest of terms, has the power to quiet your mind. Whether it is just a word or a full on sentence you tell yourself, your mind will eventually associate your mantra with peace and serenity. Truth is, life is less about what happens to you and more about how you choose to respond to it. So find a phrase, quote or saying that moves you, take a few minutes to quiet your mind and repeat it to yourself as a good reminder to slow down and breathe deeply.

ACT WITH INTENTION

Thinking and acting with intention is the antidote to living through bad habits, negative energy and life set-backs. Although the concept of acting consciously, with complete awareness in what you’re doing, why and how you’re doing it, may seem simple, most of the time, habit and conditioning circumvent thinking, causing people to be unclear about what they want, to allow themselves to be easily distracted and to fail to plan in order to achieve specific outcomes. When you act with intention, you use your control to create the life you want. So, how do we ensure that our actions are purposeful? Figure out what it is that you really want. Develop a plan of action to make it happen. Ask for help and support when you need it in order to achieve your intention. Adopt the belief that you are in control of your destiny.

TELL THE UNIVERSE WHAT YOU WANT

Did you know you can consciously attract any experience you want at any time of your life by the simple action of asking? The energy behind speaking aloud your requests, as oppose to wishes and hopes, is much more powerful than what most people believe it to be. Whether it's in the form of an affirmation or a list of things you want to accomplish in a near or faraway future, your request to the Universe can never be too small or too big. Don't be shy to share away your desires and needs with the world, or write down your goals somewhere private to move it along. As for backing up your intentions with actions, surround yourself by like-minded people who support your goals. Remember, what you are, you attract...

MEDITATION

The most important habit you could ever form with time is, hands down, the art of meditation. With the hectic pace and demands of modern life, we tend to feel stressed and over-worked. Stress and tiredness are known direct factors leading to unhappiness, impatience and frustration. In some cases, it can even develop into a chronic illness and affect our health. Meditation can help "giving" you more time by making your mind serene and more focused, eventually reaching a higher level of awareness and inner calm. It may come as a surprise to learn that you can meditate anywhere and at any time, allowing yourself to access a sense of tranquility and peace no matter what's going on around you. Meditating is a natural condition.

CONNECT WITH ELEMENTS

We live a life surrounded by constant technological advancements and other breakthrough inventions that make our lives much easier, granted, but sometimes, all you need to empty your head, gather your thoughts and regain your strength is to drop everything and ground yourself again. If you live close to the water, go for a swim or simple stick your bare feet into the watery sand. If you live in a big city, go for a walk through a park, connect with nature. If you're stuck inside your home, close the lights and light some candles or take a few hours to do some gardening and care for a plant. Those are all ways you can ground yourself and connect with nature's element to feel whole again.

Happy happy Halloween, everyone!

1. Air Jordan 11 retro "Space Jam"

Release year: 2009

With the 20th anniversary of Space Jam fast approaching (Nov. 15th everyone!), there is no doubt the iconic Air Jordan XI is making a comeback as the most sought-after Air Jordan design ever created. For those of you who remember, the last time the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” were seen was back in December 2009, which kicked off a serious run for the Jordan Brand as it was actually one of the first Air Jordan 11 iterations to grace the hardwood within the NBA. Today, the pair retails for about US$700 for a men's size 13 and is set to return on December 17th to celebrate 20 years of pure basketball tune-crazy.

Much different from the 2009 release, this year's pair will feature a chunky patent leather cut, its original "45" embroidery on the heels (when Michael Jordan returned to basketball, designers adjusted the '23' on the heel of his Air Jordan 11s to his new number '45) and some very blue looking icy outsoles. As for money talk, Jordan Brand is known for their snarky habit of charging premium for their yearly Jordan 11s and this pair will be no different at US$220.

2. Air Jordan 2 Retro x Don C 'Beach'

Release year: 2016

The first month of 2016 marked a fresh start for the Jordan Brand as they brought, once again, luxury to the hardwood, dropping a brand new collaboration with Chicago’s very own Just Don. Launched in 2011, Just Don played a huge part in bridging the gap between sportswear and luxury fashion with unique, upscale hats which quickly became a go-to destination for any adorer of high-end athleisurism. Following their debut collaboration in 2015, Don C, founder of Just Don, decided to keep the same luxurious aesthetic on his second work with the Jordan Brand, using the Air Jordan 2 in a combination of premium tan leather and suede coming in a cream/white sandy shade called 'Beach'.

Originally retailed a little over US$350, the Air Jordan 2 Retro x Don C 'Beach' can now be re-sold to profit for about US$1,500 for a men size 10. Althought that might seem a bit steep, knowing what the illustrious Just Don merch. usually resells for, fans of Don C will have no problem working around that. Which Don C x Air Jordan 2 are you liking the most?

3. Nike SB What the Dunk 'What the Dunk'

Release year: 2007

Just in time for Halloween! The Frankenstein-like creation that is the Nike SB Low "What the Dunk" is considered a holy grail to some sneakerheads and was one of the more anticipated Dunks that Nike Skateboard ever released. This particular sneaker takes elements from all the hypest Dunk SB's previously made and quickly became a milestone creation by Nike, since never before have so many different pieces of design, patterns, materials or colors have been put into one single pair. If you take a closer look, you’ll find pieces from the Cali’s, the Pigeons, the Jedi’s, the Denims, the Supreme Hi’s and Lows, the Shanghai 1 and 2’s, and the Avengers.

It originally retailed at select Nike SB accounts with a price tag ranging anywhere from $250-$300 but if you happen to have about 2 G's lying around in your bank account, these can now be yours today. Psssst! Rumor has it only 300 pairs where made…

4. Air Max 1 Premium Atmos 'Elephant'

Release year: 2007

Nike looked to the East when teaming up with Atmos on the design of the infamous Atmos 'Elephant' Air Max 1's released in April 2007. With plenty of sneakers under its belt, the premier Tokyo-based shoe store was the perfect influence Nike needed to inject their new Air Max 1 update with, at a time when runners were not high-fly. Featuring vibrant colours and excentic (at the time it was!) material and patterns such as the elephant print, which is visible throughout the shoe’s upper, the Atmos 'Elephant' AM1 still sold out and quickly became one of the most sought after runners in a market dominated by Nike SB and basketball kicks.

Originally retailing for probably no more than US$250, a pair of Air Max 1 Premium Atmos 'Elephant' can now be purchased for US$1,250, if you're a men size 9, 11 or 12. If you're ever wondering how can a pair of runners sell for this much, while no set number is known, rumor has it less than 5,000 pairs were produced at the time and despite being released nine years ago now, the colorway continues to look fresh thanks in large part to Nike’s continued use of both the elephant print and jade coloring.

5. Yeezy Boost 350 v2

Release year: 2016

The adidas Yeezy Boost 350 v2 is Kanye x adidas' newest addition to the Yeezy family, who's mission is bringing to life the ultimate in music, culture and fashion. First unveiled during the FW16 presentations last February, the low-top sneaker features a new striped pattern on the upper for a classic aesthetic, with a mix of Primeknit and adidas' coveted Boost cushioning technology.

Originally sold at US$220, West's vision for effortlessness and timelessness, melding the forward-thinking technologies of adidas with a bold new design, is now worth between US$800 and US$1,250, depending on your shoe size.
