THE ONE SHOULDER FASHION TREND

YOUR NEXT FAVOURITE WARDROBE PIECE

With 2016 being the year of the off-the-shoulder, 2017 is kicking off with a little more clavicle coverage in the form of the one-shoulder design. Showing off just the right amount of skin, the look took spring and summer by storm. One Shoulder is something that I always liked, it creates such a pretty silhouette, whether it's a dress or a top.

Here are some tips on how to make this trend work for you:

Whether it's trendy magenta or classic black, choose a solid-coloured one-shoulder piece if you're feeling nervous about the style. You can still look for chic accents, such as beading or ruffles, to give your solid colour some punch, but don't be afraid to go basic at first.

Nothing looks classier than a one-shoulder top paired with straight leg or palazzo style pants.  Stick to matching neutral shades for a chic, understated look or go for contrasting colours to truly make an impact.

Celebrities have been rocking one-shoulder dresses with hot belts to showcase their waists and keep their styles far from frumpy.

A fabulous pair of shoes and a great bag are all you need with a one-shouldered dress. If you're going to wear jewellery, try a cocktail ring or glitzy earrings - you don't want a necklace competing with your neckline!

This is a style that is made to be seen, not layered over. Shoulders are pretty universally attractive, so show it off! If you need to keep warm, try an open blazer, cardigan, or bomber jacket so your cute threads can still be seen.

Like most items of clothing, all one-shoulder tops fit differently, so you're going to want to try on a variety of options before making your pick. Sometimes the necklines can hit at the wrong places or fit uncomfortably. There are lots of options within this look, from the traditional Grecian style to one full sleeve or even a solo spaghetti strap. Pick what speaks to you and go from there!

Pick your bra wisely! One-shoulder styles demand a strapless bra. Those colourful bandeau bras you might have in your closet from last spring also work well under one-shoulder tops. Your bare shoulder provides the beauty of this look - don't clutter it with a bra strap!

Here are a few chic one shoulder pieces that will ensure you are on trend this season.

The fashion runway is always upbeat with the new and the gorgeous. One such top fashion trend making its presence in the Fall of 2015 is trendy footwear. Of the lot that’s catching attention and limelight among st models, celebs and street-style owners is lace up sandals, heels and flats. This is one sultry fashion trend that helps you make a playful statement every time you walk. It’s a strappy style that is feminine and has the right attitude to be worn for shopping trips or red carpet. Rope closures make the shoes fit you Goldilocks-style. And you don’t have to break the bank to wear the Fall’s best shoe showpieces.

Lace up caged heels can be worn to work as comfortably as evenings or nights. When you go for flats, the laces give you a girly, ballet-inspired look. In fact, lace-up footwear can match with just about any style vibe of yours. We’ve rounded up some top adorable options you will love to lace up with!

1. Gladiator Style

This is an attractive lace-up which gives you a choice of multiple heights. It is available as flat sole or heel. However, you will have to be choosy in matching gladiator style with your outfits. The absence of padding in the sole can be a little discomforting. But gladiator is meant for girls who want to flaunt their style in a bohemian and individualistic style.

2. Wedge Pattern

Wedge heels are the next best in terms of adding height to your persona. Available in multiple colours, wedges look superb with pants, skirts and dresses. Depending on your comfort factor, the wedge heel can get a bit uncomfortable when worn for a long period of time.

3. Stiletto

This is again a high heel that makes you tall and adds height. Work or night out, a stiletto is perfect for both. Wear it by all means to the socially appropriate occasions but not to the beach as you might trip in the sand.

85th Academy Awards

THE MOST BLESSED AND SACRED DAY HAS FINALLY COME AND GONE. The 85th Academy Awards, aka. My favorite day of the year (As previously discussed a million times on the blog/in life.), are over already and boy, oh boy, did we have some great dresses grace the red carpet. Shall we begin?
Amy Adams won my heart for Best Dressed of the Night. She looked more like a princess than ever in this stunning Oscar de la Renta gown. I love me some Oscar de la Renta, this is a fact, so this entire situation has my heart.
Jennifer Lawrence was my second favorite for Best Dressed of the Night. This Dior gown was FANTASTIC. I mean, it was everything I love. It was huge and so wonderful. I mean, yes, my future BFF did trip walking up the stairs to accept her Oscar statue for Best Actress, but if anyone was going to trip and embarrass themselves on national television, it would be her. This is how I know we are soulmates.
Jessica Chastain finally wore something flattering and pretty! This Armani Prive gown was just really quite gorgeous. And don't get me started on her hair and makeup, because that was flawless all around.
Samantha Barks was seriously overlooked by all the awards shows, I think. She seriously stole the show in "Les Miserables." She was all I could stare at. Her face, her tiny little waist, etc. She's great. This dress is also so great.
Someone decided to invite Kristen Stewart to present. Now, my best friend and I watched the awards show in an hour (Instead of 5) so we missed a whole bunch of the nonsense from Seth MacFarlane, KStew, etc. so I'm not sure how she did, but either way I don't love it. I do, however, love her Reem Acra gown. It's stunning. I feel bad for her though because she did have to use crutches on the red carpet. So sad.
I am still quite obsessed with Kerry Washington's fashion choices as of late and I really quite like this Miu Miu gown. It's so pretty and I heart gown trains.
So, I like the top of Zoe Saldana's Alexis Mabille Couture gown, but I kind of really dislike the bottom. The ombre gray situation happening is not my favorite. But the top, the top is so pretty!
Jennifer Hudson's body looks bangin', but she looks like an Avatar in this Roberto Cavalli gown.
So, I adore Reese Witherspoon, but I don't love this Louis Vuitton gown. She is way too tiny and there is just way too much fabric for such a tiny body. You know? Of course.
Anne Hathaway is really annoying me as of late. But that's besides the point. Her Prada gown was not great. The darts, aka. Dress nipples, were so distracting, it's all I was paying attention to. But, on a more positive and optimistic note, her hair is growing back nicely, her jewelry was gorgeous and her Ryan Gosling look alike husband is still really attractive. So, you know, there's that.
I am very disappointed in Jennifer Aniston and her hair. She generally has impeccable hair, but oh no, not last night. It was all over the place and I'm not having it one bit. Her gown was alright, it was kind of wrinkled and I think she should've worn at least one or two pieces of jewelry to spruce it up. It seems like a general missed opportunity.
Naomi Watts looked like a gorgeous alien in this Armani Prive gown. I didn't like it at first, but now it's weirdly growing on me and I'm totally okay with it actually.
Charlize Theron looked like a grown up Miley Cyrus on the red carpet. I think I like her Christian Dior Haute Couture gown. I mean, I think I do? I'm not super excited about it.
I DON'T KNOW WHY NICOLE KIDMAN WAS THERE. Ha ha I mean, I never know why Nicole Kidman is there, you guys. I don't. Only I do this time because she was a presenter. Now, her L'Wren Scott dress. It's interesting. I don't like the belt, mostly. It's just too much, I don't know what to focus on. I'm hoping it just doesn't photograph well? But I'll give it to her because she actually looks so great. I'm proud of her.
Halle Berry wore some type of Beetlejuice looking Versace gown. Nope. Nope. Nopers.
Jellyfish Garner. I mean, Jennifer Garner. She looked gorgeous in this jellyfish-esque Gucci gown. I mean, it's similar to something she's worn before, but I still love it. Also, her hair and makeup is flawless. And watching her tear up in her seat while her hubby, Ben Affleck, accepted the Oscar for Best Picture "Argo" (Which, by the way, was such a freaking good movie) was tugging on my heart strings. I adore it.
Adele wore a black dress, so like, alert the presses, you guys!
