Fall Fashion Trends - Tips For women

Keeping up with the latest fashion trends isn’t as easy as you may think. Lots of times the fashion seen on the run way does not translate well to the average person’s wardrobe and the style may very well be lost in the process. Struggle no longer ladies! Here I break down the latest high fashion trends seen in this season’s Paris fashion week, to a much more wearable alternative. These are the Fall/Winter 2017 fashion trends to copy! Happy styling!

The Color Of Fall 2017: Red.
The 2017 red is not the commonly assumed Fall maroon. A brighter, cherry red is what is trending. This is most easily worn as an outer layer. A pea coat, rain coat, or puff coat/vest would be ideal. It also dresses well in combinations; a red sweater with red shoes or a red pant with red nails.

A Secret Weapon: Metallics.
Metallic fabric alone can be daunting and I wouldn’t blame you if you turned around and ran the other way. This winter, give it another look in the form of a detailed purse, ballet flat, or mini skirt. Pair your metallic pieces with monochromatic outfits, such as the always bold, all-black ensemble.

The Always Loved Distressed And Messy Look.
This trend became popular last fall and winter when artist Kanye West began his fashion line. The simplicity and the undone look attracts many people to his everyday, wearable style. This year many more designers followed in his footprints. This is seen in the unfinished hem on denim jeans, jackets, and button up tops. Pair these frayed jeans with an oversized, broken-in knit sweater.

For When You Have Your Beyonce Days, Choose Leather.
Leather has come back in full force and this will be no different for the fall and winter. Choose a leather paneled legging to give you longer looking legs with a mix of texture to catch the eye. You can also pair a leather skirt with a pair of leather booties in the evening. If all else fails, go for the leather jacket.

Stay Extremely Warm And Stylish This Fall And Winter With Shearling Detail.
Most commonly seen worn as a coat, shearling detailing will keep you warm while avoiding the dreaded outfit ruiner that a jacket can tend to be. Shearling coats can be dressed down with a pair of jeans, but can be worn in the evening over a black dress. Also keep an eye out for shearling skirts that will definitely be trending.

Peak Cycling in Paris - Get on ya Bike!

Cycling in Paris? Well sadly I admit I did not manage to straddle a saddle and go cycling through Paris myself, although I certainly would have liked to. Although I have not had a bike for the last few years - insert sad face - cycling has been my primary form of transport for most of my life; so it was with much interest and both a cyclist and a photographers eye that I  paid considerable attention to the style of bikes I saw being ridden and the personal style of many of the people I saw riding those bikes. And as a rider from Australia where cyclists are sadly viewed as a menace, road-kill and potential cash-cow.. it was truly great to see the wide cross-section of people choosing a bike as their means of transport to get from point A to point B. It's also nice to see people free to ride without a helmet - I read recently that many European countries have introduced a law where if there is an accident between a car and bicycle the driver of the car is automatically at fault; which is the opposite of the law here in Australia I believe. Perhaps this is one of the reasons people can ride without fear for their safety; though having competitive cycling as the #2 sport throughout Europe I think means your average Madame and Monsieur are very bike aware anyway. It seems too that age is no barrier to getting on your bike, nor is fashion a problem, wear what you like. The bikes? I must say I was happy to see what I took to be an inordinate number of vintage 1980's frame sets; it seems you can't beat an Iron Horse after all. Of course the 20,000 Vélib bikes certainly made their presence felt too and next time I am in Paris; I will certainly be taking one for a spin. So here you are, 20 views of cyclists commuting along Boulevard du Palais just after 6 pm, 28°C while I enjoyed a lazy beer at L'annexe - I didn't even rise from my café chair to get the shots! If only things could be so civilised back home.

Basic Fashion For Teenage Guys - Tips For Girls Only.

TEENAGE GIRLS FASHION

The teen years can be a confusing stage, especially when it comes to individual style and fashion. Instead of trying to always fit in with the peer group, as most teens do, it’s also about being an individual and making your own mark. If you have a teen girl at home, you’ve probably already seen her fretting over what to wear and how to style her look.

As a mom, here’s your chance to update your girl with some interesting and very ‘it’ fashion styles that are all the rage right now. Check out some fun and fresh fashion tips for teens that they love to try out.

Here is a list of fashion ideas for teens that will let your teen girl find her own style and be comfortable with it:

1. Colorful Layering:
Layering is one fashion trend that is always in rage, and goes perfect for all age groups.

Help your teen try out all her colorful clothes at once, without them looking too in your face.

Ask your teen to wear a colorful vest and style it with a colorful shirt or jacket on the top.

Let her pair it with plain denims and sneakers, and a colorful cross body bag.

2. Striped Simple Crop Top:
Crop tops have come back with a bang and lots of teens as well as adults are wearing it all the time.

Your teen can wear a cute striped crop top in neutral tones, such as a black and white striped one, and pair it with a simple pair of denims.

To keep the focus on the top, ask her to keep the accessories or makeup to a bare minimum.

3. Winter Color Match:
Your teen can use some bright colors in her winter wardrobe to make sure the look is structured, yet vibrant.

Ask her to pair any two items in her outfit in a color of choice, such as a bright teal woolen cap with a bright teal woolen scarf.

Make sure she keeps the rest of the outfit is in neutral or light tones, so that the focus remains on the color coordinated ones. A plain white tee or shirt with a basic pair of denims will go great. This is one of the best fashion tips for teenage girls.

4. The Basic Vest:
The basic vest is one fashion accessory that should be a must-have in your teen’s wardrobe.

A basic vest in the shade of white will always help her coordinate her other clothes around it.

Let your teen try out a white vest with a blue pair of denims and simple or bright tie-on sneakers.

She can also use a number of accessories on her hand to create the layered effect.

The best part about this look is that your teen can always add another layer on top, by using a scarf, a shirt, a tee or even a jacket.

5. Classic Blue Denim Jacket:
Make sure your teen has a classic denim jacket in her wardrobe in the shade blue, as it is one fashion accessory everyone should have.

She can either go for a more form fitted one jacket or one that is a little big for her size, as both will look great when paired up with other clothes.

Your teen can wear the jacket over a dress, over a regular skirt and top, over a vest and denim combo, over formal attire, or even as a buttoned-up jacket with a black pair of denims.

6. Shorts And Stockings:
Teens love wearing shorts, and it is one fashion item that your girl can always use to make a stunning style statement.

Help your teen dress up a simple pair of blue denim shorts by wearing a netted stocking underneath.

She can team it up with a white crop top and a colorful pair of tie-on sneakers.

To give the whole look that much more edge, ask her to add a cap and aviators. This is the best teen fashion tips.

7. Vibrant Pair Of Glasses:
Big and chunky frames of glasses have come back to make a major style statement, both for teens and adults alike.

The best part about using glasses as a fashion accessory is that your teen can choose the type of look she wants to create.

You can help your teen choose a pair of glasses that are either same in color or have multiple colors in them. Also, ask her to choose colors that are more vibrant instead of dull, as they will help to brighten up a plain look.

Your teen can use the glasses with her formal wear as well as easy and fun casual wears.

8. Arm Candies:
Styling your arm with the right type of accessories is a big fashion statement, one where your teen girl can actually mix and match her different bangles and bracelets.

From chunky bracelets and bangles to the more dainty and feminine ones, your teen can go for a super stylish layering effect to add character to a regular and plain outfit.

Let your teen decide what type of look she wants to wear for that particular day. She can take a pick from leather bands, braided bracelets, chunky jeweled bangles, wooden bangles, beaded bracelets, charm bracelets, wristlets, shell bracelets and many many more.

Make sure that if she wants the highlight to be around her arm, she needs to keep the other accessories to a minimum or not wear any.

9. Pretty In Boots:
Let your teen girl have a gala time dressing up her outfits by choosing some cute and fashionable boots to go with them.

These days, boots are available in a variety of colors and styles, not just the blacks and browns of earlier times.

Ask your teen to pick two pairs in her favorite colors. She can wear them with outfits that she wants to color coordinate with her boots. Alternatively, she can use them to add some spunk to plain and neutral colored outfits.

10. A Girly Dress:
Make sure your teen has at least one girly dress in her wardrobe.

Floral patterns, pink or lavender hues and frills or laces will work best.

She can wear her dress as it is, or dress it up with jackets, stockings, leggings and more.

As a mom, let your teen girl explore and enjoy the world of fashion, even as you guide her through some interesting ideas that will help her create her own individual fashion identity.

What are those three fashion essentials that you feel your teen girl should have in her wardrobe? Do share about it here.

WHO WORE WHAT?.....Cannes Film Festival 2017 Day 1-3: Top 10 Best Dressed

Belle of the Cannes Ball: Bollywood Diva and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at 2017 Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet "Okja" Screening, Cannes Frances

This week is the 70th Annual Cannes Film Festival and you know what that means: RED CARPET FABULOUSNESS!!!! The Cannes Film Festival--and its very long red carpet--has always been a Fashion Extravaganza--but lately, in the last few years with the advent of Victoria's Secret Supermodels and random international actresses/fashion influencers, the Cannes Red Carpet has become the equivalent of the Academy Awards-meets-The Met Ball when it comes to Couture. Maybe there's something about being in the South of France...or that it is after all, Cannes, but...it has gotten the reputation of being a Red Carpet Heaven when it comes to actresses/models displaying extraordinary style.

Prom Queens: Dakota Fanning in Vivienne Westwood Couture, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Michael Cinco Couture and Araya A. Hargate in Olivier Theyskens--70th Annual Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet, Cannes France

For this 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, there seems to be a main Style Trend: 90's Prom-a-Licious. Lots of BIG BALLGOWNS, lots of late 80's/early 90's silhouettes, lots of POUF's (where's Christian Lacroix when you really need him??) long gloves and Prom-like necklaces. Here are my Top Ten Red Carpet Goddesses of Day 1-3:

Aishwayra Rai Bachchan in Michael Cinco Fall 2017: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan dropped the COUTURE Mic with this stunning baby blue silk organza/applique gown from Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco and his Michael Cinco Couture Fall/Winter 2017 "Infanta Maria Theresa" collection...

Gown Fab: If there was ever a moment to wear this--and wear it for free (as opposed to the $100,000+ it probably costs to order it!), it would be the Cannes Film Festival so...Kudos to Aishwarya and her Stylist for choosing this for her. #Love

Deepika Padukone in Brandon Maxwell: Styled by  A-list celebrity stylist Elizabeth Salzman (who styles Gwenyth Paltrow and Uma Thurman), Denmark-born Bollywood Indian actress and L'Oreal Global Ambassador Deepika Padukone, wore this green gown from Lady Gaga favorite designer Brandon Maxwell on Day 2 of the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. The one shoulder gown was daring, sexy and column fabulous, featuring a high side-front slit opening, and beautiful back drape "fall" detail. One of the BEST LOOKS from 2017 Cannes Days 1-3.

Araya A. Hargate in Olivier Theyskens Spring 2017: British-Thai actress--and recent Red Carpet Darling--Araya A "Chompoo" Hargate, was very much on the 90's prom Trend Vibe when she delighted the 2017 Cannes Red Carpet Paparazzi in this black strapless gown from French designer Olivier Theyskens--formerly of Nina Ricci,  Rochas and Theory. He has his own namesake line now and Araya seems to be the perfect muse for it--at least for one day at Cannes. I thought she looked quite elegant, sexy and 90's Prom Retro--the gloves, the shape of the gown...the necklace...it was all On-Trend!

Araya A. "Chompoo" Hargate in Ralph & Russo Spring 2017 Couture: Araya landed in my Top Favorite 2017 Cannes Red Carpet Looks of Day 1-3 TWICE, and here's my second pick--this look of a white gown with white silk cape covered with crystals and ostrich feathers--from British design line Ralph & Russo and their Spring 2017 Couture collection. She's got a bit of a baby bump and looked quite beautiful and dare I say sexy-appropriate! Love the Cannes Drama of that cape. This is how you show up to Cannes darlings!

Sara Sampaio in Zuhair Murad Spring 2017: Portuguese model--and Victoria's Secret Angel--Sara Sampaio--dazzled at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival in one of my favorite gowns so far--this fire-red design from Lebanese couturier Zuhair Murad and his Spring/Summer 2017 Couture collection. The ballgown featured "fireworks"-like hand sewn sequins over a silk organza and crinoline tulle base with a full A-line shape skirt and semi-plunging neckline. As you can see, the silk satin draped waist piece was removed and I think that was a good idea!

Fan Bingbing in Elie Saab Spring 2017 Couture: Next up on my Day 1-3 2017 Cannes Red Carpet Favorite Looks is this blue gown worn by Chinese actress and Fashion Diva Fan Bingbing. The gown is from Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab and his Spring/Summer 2017 Couture collection. I absolutely love this dress; the delicate torso hand pleating is gorgeous as well as the soft yet drama-fab look of the attached gathered neckline cape. She looks like the Empress of a country...at a black tie official dinner event!

Elle Fanning in Vivienne Westwood Couture: Actress and one of the newest L'Oreal Brand Ambassadors Elle Fanning, looked marvelous and so on the 90's Prom Fab Trend with this white strapless ballgown from Vievienne Westwood Couture. The gown was custom-made for her and the artwork was hand painted, naturally.  Westwood's team said that it took 10 people to work on the dress and it took more than 300 hours to finish over the course of ten days. It was very pretty and so Grace Kelly-at-Cannes-like...for the 21st Century.

Julianne Moore in Givenchy Couture: American actress Julianne Moore looked like a modern fashion Diva, in this red gown from Givenchy Couture Spring/Summer 2017 that she wore for the 2017 Cannes Opening Night Gala and "Ismael's Ghosts" (Les Fantômes d’Ismaël) Screening. The gown--in its original form--was in a light peach color, but for Julianne , it was created in a strong Red Carpet RED! The dress featured hand applied feathered applique and if you look closely, she was wearing matching silk lace pants under it. I loved it! It was directional, fashion-fab and unique, in a good way! Moore would probably have never worn something like this in the U.S. (too "out there" for that market!) but I give her points for "going there" in Cannes France.

Uma Thurman in Atelier Versace Fall 2016: What U.S. actress Uma Thurman is wearing on the 70th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Night "Ismael's Ghosts (Les Fantômes d’Ismaël)" Screening Gala is my 9th favorite Red Carpet look of 2017 Cannes Film Festival Day 1-3. Thurman chose a pink body-hugging gown from Atelier Versace Fall/Winter 2016 collection. The pleated drape across her off-the-shoulder neckline was exquisite as well as in the front of the dress. The gown was fitted to a 1/4" of her life! She looked DIVINE!

Lily Collins in Johanna Ortiz Spring 2017: Lastly, I wanted to give "2017 Cannes Red Carpet Props" to the beautiful Lily Collins in this chic and fashion-forward ensemble from designer Johanna Ortiz which she wore for the "Okja" photocall in Cannes. Colombian designer Ortiz is known for her "Oscar de la Renta"-like poufs and ruffles and I absolutely loved this striped top and sequined pencil skirt outfit on the lovely Lily Collins at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. She dazzled and looked Muy Chic!
