Fall Fashion Trends - Tips For women

Keeping up with the latest fashion trends isn’t as easy as you may think. Lots of times the fashion seen on the run way does not translate well to the average person’s wardrobe and the style may very well be lost in the process. Struggle no longer ladies! Here I break down the latest high fashion trends seen in this season’s Paris fashion week, to a much more wearable alternative. These are the Fall/Winter 2017 fashion trends to copy! Happy styling!

The Color Of Fall 2017: Red.
The 2017 red is not the commonly assumed Fall maroon. A brighter, cherry red is what is trending. This is most easily worn as an outer layer. A pea coat, rain coat, or puff coat/vest would be ideal. It also dresses well in combinations; a red sweater with red shoes or a red pant with red nails.

A Secret Weapon: Metallics.
Metallic fabric alone can be daunting and I wouldn’t blame you if you turned around and ran the other way. This winter, give it another look in the form of a detailed purse, ballet flat, or mini skirt. Pair your metallic pieces with monochromatic outfits, such as the always bold, all-black ensemble.

The Always Loved Distressed And Messy Look.
This trend became popular last fall and winter when artist Kanye West began his fashion line. The simplicity and the undone look attracts many people to his everyday, wearable style. This year many more designers followed in his footprints. This is seen in the unfinished hem on denim jeans, jackets, and button up tops. Pair these frayed jeans with an oversized, broken-in knit sweater.

For When You Have Your Beyonce Days, Choose Leather.
Leather has come back in full force and this will be no different for the fall and winter. Choose a leather paneled legging to give you longer looking legs with a mix of texture to catch the eye. You can also pair a leather skirt with a pair of leather booties in the evening. If all else fails, go for the leather jacket.

Stay Extremely Warm And Stylish This Fall And Winter With Shearling Detail.
Most commonly seen worn as a coat, shearling detailing will keep you warm while avoiding the dreaded outfit ruiner that a jacket can tend to be. Shearling coats can be dressed down with a pair of jeans, but can be worn in the evening over a black dress. Also keep an eye out for shearling skirts that will definitely be trending.

Denim On Denim Outfit Rules - Tips For Women

Denim on denim: It’s a tricky beast. When done correctly, it looks amazing—but one minor misstep and you can wind up with a situation similar to the Justin Timberlake/Britney Spears debacle of 2001.
Something about the double-denim trend—often referred to as a Canadian tuxedo—feels innately wrong fashion-wise. Even when we see street style stars execute the look flawlessly, it can still be intimidating to try to pull it off ourselves.

How to Wear a Denim Shirt in Different Ways

With that in mind, we’ve dissected the ultimate dos and don’ts of putting together a denim on denim outfit.

Play with colors if you’re a total beginner
Before delving into shades of double blue, start out by pairing different shades of denim together, like white jeans and a blue denim jacket, or black jeans and a chambray shirt. It’s almost impossible to go wrong this way.

Use denim shades to flatter or hide body parts
As a general rule, lighter shades of denim draw attention to the body parts they cover, while darker washes create a slimming effect. For many women this means that dark denim jeans, and a lighter denim top or jacket is the most flattering way to go.

Distress
Something about distressed denim (ripped jean shorts or jeans) just lends itself well to the denim on denim look. So don’t be afraid to rip away.

Dress up your double denim
Don’t be afraid to elevate your outfit with luxe-looking items including statement heels, a tuxedo blazer, or a fabulous red lip

Houndstooth Pattern

Why You Need Houndstooth in Your Closet

I have always loved the houndstooth pattern, I find the pattern to be timeless, and the wonderful thing about houndstooth is how adaptable it is.  You can use it to create a very runway-inspired look or wear it more traditionally; either way, it is quite chic.  Houndstooth is a classic menswear print that Chanel had made famous for women in the 60’s.  The pattern has been around for over decades in its classic black and white shades but now is making a comeback in a variety of colours as well.

If you are brave and bold enough, try wearing houndstooth from head to toe.  The simplest and easiest ways, of course, is to wear a houndstooth printed dress.  You can also get in on the suiting trend and rock a houndstooth suit or, if you want something more flexible and something that offers you more freedom and options, you can simply wear whatever you feel like wearing and top it off with a houndstooth coat.

The Houndstooth pattern makes for great work-wear.  The simplest way to wear this trend is to wear a houndstooth printed jacket over your formals to work.  Also, a houndstooth blazer can easily go from day to night.

The check now comes in a multitude of fabrications and colours, seen on tweed texture pants and slinky silk shirts, there’s something both modern and classic about it.  Pick one piece and keep the rest of the outfit clean and neutral—houndstooth is bold enough to be the sole focal point or a houndstooth accessory, like a handbag or scarf, to keep you from being overwhelmed.  Trust me, you’ll get addicted.

Now, for the really bold and adventurous fashionistas out there, here’s something more challenging: wear houndstooth with other prints. The print on print trend is still in full force so why not add the houndstooth print to your arsenal of printed patterns to mix and match?

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Emoji Fashion - is it a thing?

EMOJI ARE LEAVING THEIR MARK ON FASHION

If you have recently seen a lot of people wearing shirts or sweatshirts with your favourite emojis on them, you’re not alone. The emoji trend from social media has made its way into the fashion world and is mostly seen on the streets, with young social media users boasting them. Are emojis taking over the fashion world? Those cute little icons we love to put on the end of our text messages are gaining a stylish life of their own.

The luxury fashion house Acne Studios has launched a line of apparel and footwear inspired by emoji food graphics. The range, which includes sneakers, sweatshirts, T-shirts and hats, features various emoji food illustrations, including hotdogs, hamburgers, microphones, bananas, and doughnuts, among others.

Before Acne Studios jumped in, there were several other fashion world emoji pioneers. In 2015 Donatella Versace spruced up her collection with emoji symbols and in 2016 took it a step further with a Versace emoji keyboard. As well as British designer Anya Hindmarch nearly pioneered the fashion function of the emoji phenomenon with emoji-splattered clutches and bags originally in 2015, with permanent stickers to jazz up any accessory. Ringing in her Fall 2016 collection, she also brought them onto clothing such as printed coats and jackets.

But perhaps no fashion designer loves emoji quite like Karl Lagerfeld. Karl Lagerfeld included emoji-style prints in his Chanel Fall 2016 collection, with garments adorned with emoji motifs that include his cat Choupette, the peace symbol and the brand's iconic camellia flower.

I have come across shirts, skirts, and one-piece dress that has emoji printed, which makes it geeky-cool fashion. This may be because that emojis itself are very colourful and flashy, but also fun! “#emojifashion” on Twitter or Instagram also makes it interesting to see how people will coordinate the colourful item in to their style.
