Last night was the opening launch of S.A.M (South African Made) by Wae West store in Umhlanga Center (the old Buxton's center) not only as a shopper and support local enthusiast but also as one of the Designers.
Genna-Wae Botsis a local designer and the main brain behind it all, she has pulled together local talent and creatives to bring you SAM store. This is the first permanent retail store and they stock the best in local art and design from clothing to accessories.
The concept of SAM is to bring local manufacturing back to South Africa and to give local designers a much needed platform to launch themselves in the world of fashion (you can read more here.) By supporting local designers, mills and the manufacturing sector it would go a long way towards developing local industries. (you can read more here.) Everyone always turns to overseas for fashion. Why, when we have such brilliant local designers producing unbelievable fashion right at our fingertips.
This is an amazing concept promoting local designers with the main drive of being all South African Made!
The launch, which took place last night 31 July 2014 was well supported, with drinks, entertainment and of course shopping! What I love is how diverse the store is, with collections by Wae West, Dragonfly Dreams, Spine, Sportissima, Cookie Cutter, Wildchild, Xclusive, Lucky Lemon, Jo Reynolds, NNUU by Tristan, Pixiecreationskzn, Tasha's closet, Bad Girl clothing, Tiba-Sheena Fashions, aFREAKA.co.za, BYOKOB, AZORA, Billy Beanies, Fashion by Miss Rich and many more.
Be sure to also check out the SAM online site here or see more of Fashion by Miss Rich on my blog or on Facebook
