LONDON CALL !

Cheers from London on this gorgeous Thursday night !

Just checked-in at my new home for the next days, the Wilson House at the Imperial College, and it seems like I have never left London after all. I remember being so sad to say goodbye last time, I literally dreamt of this day countless times during the past months. I guess London has that effect on me; it moves me. It's always like saying good bye to an old friend, you know you'll see each other agin pretty soon but you can't help yourself but to feel more on the down side for having to stay apart for a while. I don't know if it is something that goes away with time but if not, I guess they'll plenty of other reluctant au revoir's in the future.

But hey, we're in London NOW and not in two months from now. Let's enjoy it as much as we can, shall we ? Speaking of which, I am so looking forward to tomorrow as I have a day packed with shows and presentation, along with two major events at night which will all probably drain my energy for the next ten years but that's okay, I brought my BFF Emergen-C with me, just in case ;) No but for real, here is my lineup of activities for tomorrow, in case you'd want to follow along via social media:

19h30 Style Now Shanghai
20:30 Mud, Love & Bullet

The Calm Before The Storm

Do you ever feel the need to press pause on life so everything around you could stop, even if it was only for a few seconds ? Every year, Fashion Week season seems to get to me in a way that is pretty hard for me to describe or understand. All of the excitement of making plans, sending away show invitation requests, book flights and hotels, getting invited to parties and after-parties, all of a sudden, changes into exhaustion and and energy loss at one point of another. Ask anyone who does Fashion Month twice a year, these times of the year are ruthless ;)

Not that I am complaining or anything, I mean, who is to blame but me for putting myself through such a soul-sucking mechanism that is Fashion Week, right ? But still, with time, I've been wanting to take better care of myself in those situations; if I want to do it, I have to do it the right way and the healthy way. Aside from exercising regularly, eating well, sleeping and almost acceptable amount of hours per night(!), I turned to meditation as a good way to re-energize my body, recharge my mind and spirit, and regain my strength, whether it is before of after a busy couple of days. I am finding myself to be totally obsessed with Éveil des Sens Spa Urbain's newest addition, the float spa; a giant pod filled with warm water and epsom salt in which, you can let yourself literally float for hours, a scientifically proven, time-efficient method of unwinding and regenerating from the daily grind !

Floating is a means of intense relaxation, based on the perfect state experienced while inside the womb. I find it to be SO deeply relaxing and rejuvenating for the body and mind, not to mention that it reduces harmful stress hormones, alleviates pain and tension, and stimulates the release of beneficial endorphins within the brain. Many benefits I get to enjoy before important trips and eventful adventures abroad ;)

Friday's Favourite Five | Skin Cleansing Devices

Ever since I got my Mia 2 Clarisonic brush a few years ago, I became obsessed with skin cleansing devices and the incredible results I got from it ! Little did I know, I would end up with 7 ;) (Sigh…) Okay, okay, I must admit seven skin cleansing brushes is a little excessive (even my mother thinks I've gone crazy with this!) but if you know me well, you'll know that if there is one thing I do believe in, it's the importance of investing in a good skincare routine. I mean let's face it, clothes, shoes, bags, they all come and go, but your skin stays for life so why not put your best face forward ?

How does it work ?

Depending on which device you choose to go for, the various pulsating, rotating and vibrating movements of your brush will gently break up surface impurities including dirt, dead skin cells and make-up residues. Very often, up to three frequencies of sonic (or non-sonic) pulses will allow a deeper reach into your skin to further break up impurities lodged into your pores. With a cleaner skin, your skincare products will be able to penetrate deeper and work even better, which makes any kind of skin cleansing brush a great add to your skincare regimen. I personally invest a lot(!) in skincare products so it's important and good for me to know that they're 100% effective and that I am getting the most out of it, don't you think ? Here's a round up of my five favourite skin cleansing device, including my daily go-to, the Philips Pure Radiance, my travel options, the Clinique Sonic System and the Mary Kay Skinvigorate, my weekly deeper cleanse, the Clarisonic Mia 2, and my sensitive skin alternative, the Foreo LUNA.

JUST CAVALLI RUNWAY FALL-WINTER 2015

Many designers looked to the East this season for inspiration with gold brocaded kimono jackets, rich embroideries with silver flashes, beaded floral motifs from the Ming dynasty and oriental motifs that ooze luxury and glamour. Leave it to the Just Cavalli girl to sport her gold fringed jade gilet set with metal pagoda buttons, with tassels as her new favourite pair of earrings, shown off by some strands of hair pulled behing her ears. Here, her desire for freedom meets the formal balance of Bauhaus, creating an imaginary place where the warmth of romance and the formality of techno merge. As oriental inspired clothing, are weaving stories of opulence and exoticism across the catwalks, an air of androgynous cool is made for tales of the Orient, both astonishing and wild.

But this was potentially a collection that would make Cavalli fall right into his own signature fads (or clichés, depnding on how you see it!) with a mash-up of colours, textures and prints, cleverly decorating Seventies silhouettes bared by the world's tallest, most slender female models walking under huge neon reproductions of traditional Chinese lanterns. Do judge Cavalli or don't but either way, do it on his own terms; that is how he made this FW15 collection a huge success ! Because Just Cavalli, as opposed to the mother house, has its own personality and is not afraid to embrace it.

Put it like this, it had the romance of love, the purity of the Orient and the charm of disco.

Thanks to Just Cavalli and Moroccanoil for having me backstage and seated at the show.
