WHO WORE WHAT?.....88th Annual Academy Awards: Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive

Cate Blanchett in Custom Armani Prive

Cate Blanchett seems to be one of those actresses that NEVER gets it wrong on the Red Carpet (or in her films!). Tonight at the 88th Annual Academy Awards, Cate wore this gorgeous Mint Green Armani Prive Gown.

The gown was covered in beautiful Couture flowers that were made from feathers and crystals. They were strategically placed throughout the gown with a heavy emphasis on the shoulders and bust. The PERFECT look for all the Close-up photos!

WHO WORE WHAT?.....88th Annual Academy Awards: Alicia Vikander in Custom Louis Vuitton

Alicia Vikander in Custom Louis Vikander

Alicia is the "face" of Louis Vuitton, so it was no surprise that she arrived on the Oscar Red Carpet wearing a custom Louis Vuitton gown by designer Nicolas
Ghesquière
.

This is obviously a departure from what a Louis Vuitton Ready-To-Wear dress normally looks like as they do not do Red Carpet gowns. This is why a custom designed look was made exclusively for the Oscar nominated actress.

I love the soft lemon yellow color and the Tea-Length, Hi-Lo hem.  The silver beaded and embroidered detailing is classic "Old Hollywood" and I love how she paired the dress with a very modern silver and Lucite heel shoe.

Her diamond Chandelier earrings were gorgeous too!

Night of the Jumper 'N' Jacket @ Art Space Woolloomooloo..

A huge show of local and international art is always going to deliver a huge crowd. It's my first trip back to the Gunnery in Woolloomooloo in its new incarnation as Art Space; and it did not disappoint as the style flowed as freely the wine and beer, so much so I need to get back there and check out the show. What I saw I loved and I didn't see anyone kick any of those ticking metronomes - "Object to be destroyed" on steroids! At least they are the wooden German ones with the nice tone. Jumpers were hot and I wish that knitwear in the second shot down had the face woven in, alas it is just a shadow. Plenty of colour, but I seem to be falling in love with black and white photography all over again, so here's a selection of both. thanks guys (guys and gals) you are awesome!

From Art Space website,
"With over 60 artworks, and drawing on the notion of the dematerialisation of  art, Art as a Verb looks broadly at art’s relationship to the world and what constitutes the work of an artist. How do the varying roles of an artist (as instigator, facilitator, teacher, performer, consumer or visionary) fit within broader society? And how does the museum or gallery support art forms that function beyond the art object?"

An outfit I'd happily take the 'repeat offender' bullet for, and proof that wearing achromatic colours can be exciting.

When Winter blesses you with sun during the long weekend, you dance. Or in my case, strip yourself of winter pants, dress head-to-toe in knitwear and take a stroll with Karen Walker. It makes you forget for a few hours that the sun will set at an inconvenient 5pm and the succeeding morning's chill will bite at your bones until you get up for work, but it's bliss nonetheless.

Determined, as this would be the last long weekend until November, that I would hike through my Saturday and be at one with nature, something about my lack of physical preparation for the 1000 steps had me rethinking this elaborate idea and settle into something a little less further down on the achievement scale. I swear this coming weekend is it though - it's time to put my money where my mouth is and 10x everything, so maybe these relaxing few days were a blessing in disguise for the busy, achievement-filled, and abundant lifestyle to come.

And while my long weekend didn't include as many (or any) yoga poses as I had anticipated, I did carry out an impressive trek through the entire first season of The O.C, and that's fine by me (just don't tell my brother).

ANY STEP MBFWA Raffles International Showcase 2015

Oh Bondage - Up Yours!

Well actually the range is called HEROINE SS 2015/16 and it is Amazonian princesses meets late night bondage club all of which reminds me of going to the Beat club in Brisbane back in the early 80s... or even more so, Black Market in Sydney later on (though real B&D has never been very attractive to me). I do like the playful dress-up elements in this range; perhaps more inspired by Malcolm Mclaren and doyen of British fashion Vivienne Westwood who's shop SEX, was pretty much to-the-point and where it all got started as (Punk) fashion from fetish. And here we are, we have come a long way; certainly rebellion is prettier this time around. The designers of ANY STEP by Amy Le and Stephanie McGuigan have just shown at China Graduate Fashion Week #CGFW in Beijing, so time I thought to get my shots of this range off the hard drive and up online. I hope you enjoy the show; gold-lamé leggings on suspender straps.. I certainly did. Mouse over image for details.

My love for rose gold has grown over the past few years, and it shows with my new addition from The Peach Box. I'm not sure if the fact that it's called the 'Empress bracelet,' or the crisp Roman numerals that got me, but it got me. Now just to add some more to my basket to go with the rose-gold Marc by Marc Jacobs watch I've been planning on getting for a while (I think this is the week, it will happen).

I feel a little all over the place today... I got up at 5am fuelled by fangirl-level dedication with Mum to squeal over Guy Sebastian as Australia's entry into the Eurovision Grand Finals, so I'm a little exhausted and dazed now. Was it worth it? YES IT WAS.  I'm so proud, and once the performance squealing was over, I proceeded to fangirl every time someone gave us 12 points (THANK YOU SWEDEN & AUSTRIA). I feel the need to live-tweet the event every year, but a few favourites I re-tweeted this year about Australia were x, x and x. What a fantastic achievement in placing fifth as a non-European country.

Did you watch Eurovision? Who was your favourite? Hint: the answer is Australia/Guy Sebastian.

You're welcome.

I saw Jimmy Barnes at China Heights!

No that was not the name of the exhibition; I did see Jimmy Barnes at China Heights gallery last night. He was there as were a lot of other people for Jesse Lizotte's LOWRIDER photography exhibition of Mexican Gangster portraits and Lowrider car portraits too. And there was a magazine launch in gallery 2 (or next door) called Awake and no it was not a Seventh Day Adventist magazine launch! I don't think they would have liked the crowd at all; but as usual I loved it and here are the shots including a portrait I took of Jessie in the melee of it all. Where's Barnsie? You just need to look closely, he is definitely in there somewhere..
