2009 Ford Ranger MAX Production Version Scooped in Thailand

2009 Ford Ranger MAX Less than a month's time after the unveiling of the Ford Ranger MAX Concept at the Thailand Motor Expo, and the first photos of the revised 2009 Ranger pickup truck have surfaced on the internet. These pictures, courtesy of the Thai-based Fordclub forum, reveal that the European / Asian market 2009 Ranger picks up several design cues from the prototype model including the 'in-your-face' three-piece chrome grille, the domed hood and the headlamp design. We are not aware of any other details, but expect to see an official release in the next few weeks. Hit the jump for more pictures.

Official BMW X6 M Video Confirms Production Version, Power to come from Twin-Turbo V8

BMW has confirmed through a new teaser video - to be exact, in the description of the video- that the forthcoming X5 M (see the teaser film of the prototype model here) will be joined by an X6 M model that will be introduced later in the year. In this latest video, for the first time BMW reveals that both the X5 and X6 M will share a new 'M' prepped twin-scroll turbocharged V8 engine combined with a rear-wheel biased all-wheel drive system.

Up until now, the most powerful variants of the X5 and X6 models are equipped with BMW's new 408HP 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, something that leads us to believe that the 'M' variant of the V8 will deliver an output well over the 500HP mark. Our sources state that BMW will also use this engine on the next generation M5 and M6 models.

Peugeot 3008 Crossover Spied without any Camouflage

2009 Peugeot 3008 CrossoverOnce again, the forthcoming Peugeot 3008 crossover that will debut at the Geneva motor show this March, has been caught completely undisguised. These photos, courtesy of the members over at 'Forum-Peugeot', reveal that little has changed from Peugeot's Prologue concept car that was unveiled at the Paris show last October. The compact crossover is based on the Peugeot 308 hatchback and it's supposed to combine the practicality of an MPV with off-road ability of an SUV. Just like its most apparent rival, the Nissan Qashqai, the 3008 will be offered in front-wheel and all-wheel drive versions.

2009 Peugeot 3008 CrossoverPowertrain options will include naturally aspirated and turbocharged variants of the PSA - BMW Group co-developed 1.6-liter petrol engine as well as a wide range of HDi diesel powerplants. The 3008 is expected to hit European dealerships in the second half o 2009.

2009 Suzuki SX4 Facelift Spied Undisguised

The same folks over at the Sedici community that brought us the first shots of the facelifted Fiat Sedici, now bring us photos of the subcompact crossover's Japanese twin, the 2009 Suzuki SX4. More of an (extremely) subtle makeover than a true facelift, the 2009 SX4's nose gets a revised bumper with a restyled center air grille and concave surfaces above the fog lights. Other than that, Suzuki has also revised the protective aluminum plate on the rear bumper. Given that the 2009 Sedici features a few mild changes in the interior, we gather that the SX4's cabin will also be upgraded. Like the Fiat Sedici, the 2009 SX4 will make its market debut in 2009.

2010 Porsche Cayenne II Spy Shots Reveal SUV's Interior

Carscoop's spies have caught the sleeker and lower-riding 2010 Porsche Cayenne testing near the Nurburgring race track in Germany. The new batch of spy photographs include the first shots of the second generation Cayenne's cabin which is apparently inspired from the Panamera. Just like Porsche's new sports saloon, the center stack of the dashboard is dominated by a large touch-screen and the smaller climate controls. On the elevated lower console are the suspension-adjustment controls as well as many other buttons.

2010 Porsche Cayenne SUV Compared to the original Cayenne, the new model appears sleeker thanks to the lowered roofline, the smaller rear window and the steeper angle of the rear tailgate. Furthermore, the prototype model seen here features a lower front design giving the Cayenne a more aggressive stance as Porsche is evidently trying to make its soft-off-roader less of an SUV and more of a sports car.

The new Cayenne will share the same platform with the Panamera sports sedan meaning that it will be offered with an identical line-up that will include V6 and V8 direct injection gasoline units ranging in power from 300 to 500 HP for the more powerful turbocharged engines. There will also be a hyrbid variant as well as a diesel model.

As with the Panamera, the second-generation Cayenne will benefit from Porsche's new seven-speed PDK double-clutch gearbox. The new luxury SUV is expected to make its market debut in early 2010.

2010 Hyundai Sonata / i40, Tuscon and i30 Facelift Shown on Korean TV

The Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), South Korea's premium public broadcaster, recently aired a program that focused on Hyundai's R&D facility located in Namyang, Korea. Among other things, the show revealed a prototype model of the next-generation Hyundai Sonata undergoing testing as well as a camouflaged 2010 Hyundai Tuscon and a designers sketch depicting what appears to be a proposal for facelifted i30 hatchback. The new Sonata that will be called i40 in Europe and other international markets, is due to arrive in Hyundai's dealerships by early-2010.

Based on a newly developed platform, the 2010 Sonata will be offered with an array of engines including Hyundai's new 2.0- and 2.2-liter turbo diesels with outputs of 184HP and 200HP respectively, as well as a 2.0-litre petrol engine available in naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions.

2010 Kia Soul Mini-MPV Scooped Inside and Out

First of all, allow us to say that it is not at all certain that Kia's new mini MPV model will use the Soul name. However, the car which bears the codename YN, does share the same platform with the new Kia Soul as well as with the Hyundai i20. Set to take the fight to the Opel Meriva, Nissan Note and Honda Jazz when it's launched at the end of 2009, Kia's new little MPV will offer more space and practicality than its faux-crossover Soul sibling.

2010 Kia Soul Mini MPV The prototype model's heavy camouflage does not allow us to see any exterior details other than the large panoramic roof, but it is apparent that Kia's mini MPV will be less flashy and funky than the Soul. Inside, as is evident from the scoop photos, the mini MPV uses the same three-gauge instrument panel and three-spoke steering wheel as the Soul, though the center console has been completely redesigned. Buyers should expect to find lots of clever folding seats and plenty of storage compartments.

Powertrain options will include 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines, both producing an output of 126HP, while some markets will also get a 115HP 1.6-liter diesel and a 142HP 2.0-liter gasoline engine.

2010 Kia Soul Mini MPV The new mini-MPV will be manufactured by Kia's sister brand Hyundai at the company's new factory at Nosovice in the Czech Republic, although Korean versions are likely to be built in Korea. Production of Hyundai's version of the mini-MPV, which will replace the Matrix, will start in the Czech factory in 2010.

Expect to see Kia's little minivan making its global premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2009.

2010 Opel Meriva MPV: New Spy Shots Reveal Suicide Doors

Our latest set of spy shots of the all-new Meriva that is expected to arrive in late 2009, reveal that Opel's second generation mini-MPV will retain the innovative suicide rear doors of the Meriva Concept that made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. Called FlexDoors, the Meriva's rear-hinged back doors can open independently from the conventionally designed front doors. Even though this future is not only unique but also promises to make access to the car interior much easier, we must note that we question its functionality in tight parking spots.

2010 Opel Meriva Mini MPV In other aspects, the prototype models seen in these spy shots especially the ones of the body shell, leave few doubts that Opel has retained the concept's sharp looks inside and out. Just like the current model, the new Meriva will be equipped with Opel's variable FlexSpace rear seating system that allows the transformation of the vehicle from a five-seater to a four, three, two or even single seat vehicle without the need to remove seats.

As seen in the concept, the production Meriva will also gain the Zafira's panoramic roof with its four individual glass elements and aircraft style integrated storage compartments. This feature will be offered as an extra.

Underneath the sheetmetal, the 2010 Meriva will share many of its underpinnings with the latest Opel Corsa supermini. That spells larger exterior dimensions and more interior space for occupants and their luggage than the current model.

2010 Opel Meriva Mini MPV Aside from the usual petrol and diesel engines, according to Carscoop sources, the new Meriva will also be offered with GM's brand-new 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with outputs ranging from 120 hp to 140 HP. As for the top-of-the-line Meriva OPC, it will be equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo unit producing an output of 180HP. In Europe, the Meriva will compete against the Nissan Note, Honda Jazz, Renault Modus, Citroen C3 Picasso and the Skoda Roomster.

It remains to be seen if GM will bring the Meriva to the States as a Saturn model - that is, if Saturn is alive until then...
